i'm sorry but i got an easier way, jsut have to of those ntsc bars after each other in the same video track. make the one black/white then do transision you want ( you can chose that round thing) and play. done..

if you have the video twice (one on each layer) you can make the bottom layer black and white and the top stay in coulour. You can then use a mask to draw around the character

Hm. Wouldn't this be a problem if you were dealing with an actual video, with motion? By making the top clip shorter you're just making it go faster. Since I used a video with this effect I just split a part of it. Thanks anyways.

You can also get rid of audio by just right click on the video click open in trimmer then right click on the video in the trimmer and click 'select video only' then pull it up in the timeline.
