I think, while the interview seems kinda pointless, AFI does appeal to certain people, and if you are not one of those people, that is fine, but you shouldn't bash them straight-up. I have no problem with you bashing them on your own ears, but leave everyone else alone.

i remember hearing a demo of them in 94 bootlegged from gilman, so to say they changed a bit is a a huge understatement, if you like them fine but they went from by all accounts a true hardcore punk band to a bad cure cover band. and thats a fine line to say that you have been punk forever, i could say the same thing and mean the 16-17 years if not more i have been involved in the scene, while some kid could say it and mean 3-4 years, so the statement becomes a pissing contest.

i would not called them emo, and don't believe i did, theres a million threads about what is or isn't emo, and few really know anyway. however they are more like the cure, and since black sails then maybe the change has not been that drastic, thats when i gave up on them. they are by all accounts a different band from answer that. change is good but disconnecting almost complete from your roots is sad. being someone who was there from the their start is is quite disheartning.
