  • Am a ringer who'll be in Hawaii early next year for a break, would love to come grab them though dunno if its doable with where we'll be. Coool, didn't know there were change-ringing bells hung here!

  • why do you have loads of porno pictures on you account?!?!

  • Whats with all the ropes down the wall at the beginning of the vid?

  • @simonbellringer The ropes along the wall are gifts from other ringing towers. Each one has a tag identifying where it came from. The tufted grip section is called a sally and the various stripe colors often have meaning. For example this tower's sallies are a maroon red and gold which were the colors of the Hawaiian monarchy.

  • @wurlitzer3 Our sallies are just plain red, they match our carpet in the ringing room!!

  • @simonbellringer Here's a question for you or someone reading this post. My little church has a bell tower with one lonely bell speaking a rich E-flat and I've always dreamed of adding a second bell. If that were to happen, what pitch should it be?

  • @wurlitzer3 I think it should strike the note D (If it is heavier) or F (if it is lighter than the existing bell.) Really you need to get a professional company such as Taylor's or Whitechapel to come out and have a look for you.

Any idea how heavy your existing bell is approximately?

  • I love it!!! I'm the bell ringer for Maria Lanakila Catholic Church in Lahaina....and one of the better ones :o)..... would love to give this a try one day....although i might take too much room in the room, a bit chubby...Hahahaha!!!!

  • Never short of a spare rope or two!

  • Truely amazing, that there is a ring in Hawai'i, but not in California! I am a stranded ringer in SanFrancisco!

  • There are occasionally some amazingly low fares from the Bay Area to Honolulu. I've found hotel rooms for less than $70 a night - and that was when the economy was good.

  • Tuesday practice is from 6 pm to 7:30. Saturday is at 2.

  • Is the practice every Tuesday and Saturday? And what times are the practices?

  • TU 6:00pm SAT 2:00pm

  • @macstyle2004 I ring the bell at my church too, but a change ringing bell is SO different. It's almost in complete balance and so takes very little effort to ring - but control, that's something else!

  • Is this a local band? Good striking for a tower so remote from any other tower.

  • Thanks, the crew would be happy to hear your comments. Yes they're all local. They practice Tuesdays and Saturdays. They do get help though from visiting ringers who are always welcome in the tower.

  • the video was made on my Canon SD850. It's just a little pocket camera. The woman in the middle is just sitting one out. The ringing room is a little small. It's a very friendly tower. Two guests were ringing on this day.
