I've always thought the best type of cover is one that is different to the original. If someone is going to do a carbon copy of a song then why bother - just listen to the original. I like to hear musicians make a song their own and I can decide what version I like. I don't see why it has to be a competition and people standing on the either/ or stance. I like them both as does my 8 year old. He has several Linkin Park albums on his i pod but has asked for this version of My December.

He sounds nasally in this song because he was sick for this performance. He normally sounds way better. And I'm a die-hard Linkin Park fan, but I have to admit, even with a cold, Josh sounds way better than them.

There is nothing like the voice of Josh Groban. Every song that he sings inspires and relaxes you. Doesn't matter if he covered a song or if one of his own, His voice is one of an original and nobodies voice can compare. I can listen to him all day and never get tired.

I love this! Linkin Park is absolutely amazing, and no one can replace the original, but this is....this is a fantastic cover. I already loved Josh Groban's voice and music, and this just heightened that love. Beautiful. And as has already been stated, it's not weird. I love all different genres, ranging from some death metal to classical and country. It's good to have variety ^.^

@KP4856 This song is on the "Live at the Greek" DVD, but that DVD is not a very good purchase, really. Josh was having a very bad day that day and really sounded horrid on several of the songs. Even this one is nasal for part of the song. His orchestration here though is just *so* spectacular

@KP4856 Glad I could be helpful. I have the whole DVD -- and the early songs are very hard to listen to, because he's singing so badly, but later on it improves. I'm not sure if he was sick or nervous or what. It seems like he must not have been sick, because by the end of the concert he was singing ok. It seems more likely that he was nervous. When he discusses his early career now, he often discusses how paralyzing his nerves used to be, such that he could not sing.

Linkin park rarely ever really screams first of all and when they do it's really incorporated well into their songs. Chester sings this with a really soft voice and he has one of the best voices I've ever heard. Just thought u should know that you're misunderstanding what LP is all about. Maybe I'm too much of a linkin park fan idk haha but listen to the LP version, maybe you'll like it.
If you want less vocal bass, listen to Chester. If you want more vocal bass, listen to Josh. Both versions are awesome. It is all a matter of preference.

I like both Josh Groban and Linkin park (and a who slew of other opposite groups/artists) and as 19person895 said it's not weird. Those who do, have a better appreciation for the different genres out there.

@KP4856 This song is on the "Live at the Greek" DVD, but that DVD is not a very good purchase, really. Josh was having a very bad day that day and really sounded horrid on several of the songs. Even this one is nasal for part of the song. His orchestration here though is just *so* spectacular

@straightarrow372 Thanks for the info! I bought the single from iTunes, and I love it. I've heard that he was sick during that performance, but if so it doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the song. I like the vocal counterpoint, which the version here doesn't have. You're right, though, the orchestration is terrific.

@KP4856 Glad I could be helpful. I have the whole DVD -- and the early songs are very hard to listen to, because he's singing so badly, but later on it improves. I'm not sure if he was sick or nervous or what. It seems like he must not have been sick, because by the end of the concert he was singing ok. It seems more likely that he was nervous. When he discusses his early career now, he often discusses how paralyzing his nerves used to be, such that he could not sing.

i like this version but not as much as the linkin park version. Groban has a great voice but I think Chester sings it with i dont know more pain or sadness behind it. Like you feel something different when you hear chester sing it.

Both versions are great and as a die hard Linkin Park fan it is hard to say this but I did not like Linkin Park's version as much as I like this version:)

Linkin park rarely ever really screams first of all and when they do it's really incorporated well into their songs. Chester sings this with a really soft voice and he has one of the best voices I've ever heard. Just thought u should know that you're misunderstanding what LP is all about. Maybe I'm too much of a linkin park fan idk haha but listen to the LP version, maybe you'll like it.
