Most people have more problems fighting the capra demon because of wearing light armor with 0 poise, so they get stunlocked by the 2 dogs + the boss before reaching the stairs. Phil did get a bit lucky because one of the dogs got stuck somehow, but it might have not mattered anyway since his heavy armor + drake sword allows him to just trade blows with the boss and spam estus flasks afterwards, but hey, whatever works.
And the word of the day for this playthrough is "TROLL". EXAMPLE; Did Youtube just update the playlist thing, because i was having problems using it at first then i reloded and it looks different now??? Im confused. youtube is trolling me!

@DSPGaming Actually, you have exactly 2-3 things that greatly helped in this fight. You have heavy armor plus that wolf ring that grants you extra poise, enabling you to literally stand your ground and trade hits against the demon, who can slap you around silly with light armor. Also, drake sword is quite overpowered this early, compared to any normal weapon. I'm not saying you completely lucked out, but you were equipped just right for this boss and had the right instinct to run up the stairs.

@Bakalar ^ this. Don't get me wrong, I STRONGLY favour rolling but sometimes you do need to tank it out to make it easier. Lighter armour in general IS king, phil will learn this the hard way, stick to your light armour it will win out in the long run especially with the ring that makes you do the improved roll it's op.
Going at things with too much tactic can be bad sometimes the bosses phil has faced you can beat by being a berserker. Bed of chaos will be +20 death unless he looks it up.
@rustyburger ikr. dark souls is about adapting to situations. not trying to force your own play into the game. it may work sometimes, but not until 213786 deaths which is rather time consuming.

You did pretty good! Most people have trouble with Capra Demon because he will occasionally stun-lock you as you enter an area and kill you outright. You are getting a good bit better, which is cool.

@DSPGaming It really helped you that for some reason the dogs derped out. Typically the fight starts and the dogs run up and block your movement, then Capra just wails on you while you can't move. Was fun to watch, I accidentally heal myself like that a lot. Be careful in the Depths! That area has some really, really annoying status effect enemies, they resemble frogs.
Congrats on beating it in one try, it took me 10 tries because the dogs kept blocking the ways and I couldnt get room to breathe forcing me to block his massive attacks lol which I couldnt after my stamina was drained. Youre doing pretty fucking well I'd say, the next area 'The Depths' has enemies (froglike guys) that emit gas clouds that 'curse' you. If the curse meter fills up you turn to stone and die + when you respawn you begin with half life...so make sure to avoid the clouds!

@DSPGaming I think I'm pretty damn good at the game but it took me like 20 tries to beat the Capra demon because I'd always get stuck by him or the dogs near the beginning and I couldn't get to the stairs. I finally had to summon two people while in human form to beat him. Nice job.
I was honestly pissed at the Capra Demon.. it took me like a hundred times and when I did it.. well let's just say it was the first time in a game where I have been that happy
He is doing very well. Night and day difference. Looking forward to seeing how he does after ringing the second bell in Blight Town. That is pretty much where the game really starts ramping up. Hopefully he will stick with it long enough to see. Who knows, he may even start to love the game?
@spitfiremanlizerd Gaping Dragon is easier than The Capra Demon because you have room to move around. Stay to his sides and it's cake. He probably will not have too much of a problem with it. Gaping Dragon looks much worse than it actually is. Kind of like the Hydra.
@anongrey true but what if phil gets hit with acid barf and loses all his weapons and armor? also i had a hard time with him because i was cursed and he has massive hp and damage. really easy pattern though.

i think i realize why i'm so terrible at fighting capra demon. in retrospect, i should have worn armor with a lot of poise rather than light armor.
the concept of "only pros wear light armor because you can roll easier" is stuck in my head. argh.

@spitfiremanlizerd Gaping Dragon is easier than The Capra Demon because you have room to move around. Stay to his sides and it's cake. He probably will not have too much of a problem with it. Gaping Dragon looks much worse than it actually is. Kind of like the Hydra.

@anongrey true but what if phil gets hit with acid barf and loses all his weapons and armor? also i had a hard time with him because i was cursed and he has massive hp and damage. really easy pattern though.
