  • can a Twister Army RTF 2.4GHz RC Helicopter fly without a blade at the back?! if it cant is it possible to make one?! Please ans.

  • who farted

  • i thought it meant somethin else

  • i thought these were bull shit tips

  • Dave

I'm one of your subscribers and I really like your videos and I learned alot from them.I have one problem with my Blazing Star, I crashed the other day and now when I push the throttle up and when the heli goes up the body wobble a little bit ,do you think the hollow shaft got bent ? Pls.contact me I need your expert advice on this. THANKS :)

  • Why Dont You Fly This BStar Outside

in little or no wind?....I would rather fly it

    outside.....

  • @pautay Check my vid response, I fly it OUTSIDE! It's great! I have also uploaded an HQ version... Check my channel for it!

  • I just let my antenna dangle from the canopy... This heli glitches REAL bad if you leave the antenna in the stock posistion.

As a amatuer radio operator KJ4JAE and a radio enginner I know that the antennas are made a certain length for a reason. Since most people hold the tx with the antenna facing upward, MAXIMUM range will be when the heli's antenna hangs strait down. Nice vid. If you watch mine, you'll see that mine still gliches now and then.

  • Great video and yes the best option is to stretch the antenna out.

The base coil is the way most center tuned and some base tuned CB antennas have been made for years. The other type has an impedance matching transformer in the base. You don't get a loss of power but there is a loss of current, shortening you range.

I have never checked a carbon rod for conductivity but carbon in the raw state definitely is. Could having it as a center rod short out the coil that is wrapped around it?

  • Maybe so, but it totally fixed the glitching in this heli and others, so it is hard to argue with success. These helis dont fly far enough away to run out of range, as they are small and hard to control if you cant see them.

Carbon filled fibre is non conductive.

  • @richlaue

Im New to rc hobbies I have a blazing star and it s been working fine until last week. Now Im having problem getting it to pair up when it does pair the throttle does not work can someone please help.

    JP

  • excellent, flight 10/10

  • Thanks.

  • I'm glad that you are acknowledging the glitching Dave. When I talked about it on my video people gave me nasty comments and blame pilot error even though I been flying heli's for a few years.

Hopefully they won't go through what I went through.

  • True, very true.

  • Ha ha ha... very cool! I have to get me one from Xheli too! You make it look like just plain ol' good fun. AND WHERE did you get those shoes??? I have to try the roller heli. I want sneaker that flash and have wheels in them. You are just a big kid inside hiding behind all this science stuff huh?

    Good stuff Dave!

  • Uggs! Austrailian winter Sheepskin boots. $189. My theory is "if you play with toys all your life, you will never get old". LOL. Thanks.

  • how much and where did u get it? i have an indoor heli and would like a bigger one, would u recommend this one?

  • Got this at Xheli. See the link in the description box. I like this, but the tail, not needed, is easily broken off, and easily glued on too. ALso I would make adjust the antenna before flying as I show. l

  • hey, whats the avg run time for this? is it worth the money? looks like its a pretty good heli. there is a walkera 3D micro heli called the 2.4GHz 3G4, this thing is amazing from what i saw, no idea they made them that small, if you ever pick one up, do a review, i would like to see that. i might by this or maby the walkera, not sure.

  • I fly about 8-10 minutes. I thought is was a good deal, because of the metal head, but the tail boom is weak and the antenna needs fixed as I did in this vid. The 3g4 is cool, but hard for me to see at my age. lol.

  • Sometimes you can grab the whole head with your hand and bend it back straight enough to fly it. What heli is it?

  • You could also make a small coil antenna with a shaft but this looks probably cleaner.

  • is f.m. 10 inch, whip!?!? if i remember right!?!? david k.

  • 32 inches on RX for 72 mhz was our standard antenna length when I worked at Kraft RC systems. But this is a whip with no back folds.

  • hey, i have a apache ah-64 s009. it is my first ever rc chopper and i just wanted to know because somtimes when im flying and i release the thrust joystick (whatever you wana call it) the apache still flys and also the antena cable is wrapped around a wing so i was thinking if i unwraped that and did what you did will that fix it?

  • The antennas should be unraveled and fully extended in the real world so try to get it out the back, as that may help.

  • Hey Dave, what other changes are noted from shorter blades, i.e., good and bad, like any difference in battery duration, any flight charactoristics, etc.?

  • It doenst jump up as fast, but battery runs a bit longer. Coaxials are very stable, so I dont see much flight control difference.

  • I just purchased one of these, and when it's working properly, it's an absolute joy to fly. I only seem to have one problem.. a few minutes into each flight, the top rotor seems to want to stop spinning at full throttle? Have you seen this? Would this fall under the base loaded antenna fix?

    Thanks!

  • Mine did the same thing, and My antenna fix, fixed it for me.

  • This is a comment on your "HoverLite is WORST HELICOPTER we have ever tested!" video since you've disabled the comment feature. Have you ever thought that the one you bought could have been DEFECTIVE? Keep in mind that you only bought and tested one. You're smarter than that,

  • Come on! Do you think I would go to all this trouble to make this video (trying to fix the design flaw} if it was a fluke? Every body that has this heli had the same problem. It is no longer available and yes, I looked at the other 7 in the store, finding them all the same, since I am very good friends with the owner, he pulled them off the shelf not wanting to sell them. Pure Junk. But this Blazing Star, does fly as advertised with proportional controls.

  • hay Dave, I got me a coaxe heli, blade cx, did'nt care for the tail, so a couple of bic pens small styro, tail fin/w ant. out the tail, and mod mount, looks way better, any how I got two probs, batt dont last long bought another same thing, and on hard controls changing direction forwerd reveres or side, side flybar can hit lower blade, thought i was killing bees or somthing, but figured that one out took a while. DAVID K. P.S. nice shoes, did you mod.the wheels on,ha ha ha hee hee good job!!

  • Yes hard turns on any coaxial will let the blades hit, each other and down it comes. That is the drawback with all of them. The way I reduced it on mine is to be gentle in turns and not to jokey the throttle or land hard. All causes blade strikes. Anyway I tightened the blades on mine so they dont move much and that helped the most. Battery or HOT Motors cause short run times. Those are UGG Austrailian sheep skin boots, I'm wearing. It was -13 degrees this day.

  • Hey Dave, thanks for the fixes to the B.S. they greatly helped me. A few weeks ago I ordered a Falcon 40. Have you any insite to the F40? Other than that, well you are a big help, thanks for your video classes.

  • Thanks. Thanks for attending my class and good luck. I do not have a Falcon 40 to compare to anything. If I get one, I will review it.

  • Dave, you make it look soooo easy!!!! Thanks to you I'm hooked LOL !! Just bought my 2nd blade mcx and now looking to go large. Could you kindly suggest which model is best to upgrade? Been flying fixed wing pax planes for 23 years but always inside the flight deck and I can tell you its much more fun flying RC Helis !!

  • Thanks very kindly. Well, A bigger coaxial is a good next step, like this or the Hunter and when your ready, get a HB fixed Pitch to learn tail rotored helis. Study my 9 heli flying tips again and good luck.

  • Those tips are really great. Thanks a lot !!

  • Also I just attached a base loaded antenna too, works just like you said.

  • Good for you. Great.

  • I learned how to fly a 4ch coaxial "Heli-max Axe cx" in one day, thanks to your very informative videos! I admit, I was flying 3ch's but when i stepped up to 4ch, I was realllly confused because of the rudder controls being in the wrong position on the 3ch Tx. Anyway, sorry for rambling. Thank you, and I recommend anyone new to r/c flying watch your videos. God bless, and "No chopstick, No bang boom."

  • I really appreciate your comments. Thanks kindly.

  • lol @ inverted hehehe.

I was thinking to myself mmmm so he's going to try to invert this coaxial???? Ok me watch crash lol now lol.

  • LOL.

  • thank you dave i kinda followed your advice on antennas.i have now moved it away from my battery connector and tthe glitches have vanished..i now have the lama i always wanted without having to pay out for the 2.4ghz system i was planning to upgrade to..perhaps i will make my base loaded antenna, but for now thanks you and keep up these brilliant vids

    antony

  • Thanks kindly. Glad it worked out for you.

  • thanks for the video,my lama suffers glitches at times so will be unwinding and moving my antenna away from my battery connector..well flown geff

i have blade strike a few weeks back in the garden and lost about an 1nc from my blade.strange it never came down and still have enought power and control to fly down the garden though the door and land on my lama table in my lounge.these little helis can cope with a lot

  • Thanks kindly. Be careful with the broken blade, It can cause vibration too. Good luck.

  • Thank you so much for posting a vid about what to do with all that antenna wire that you seem to get with some receivers. I was about to request such a video. I've learned alot from your other videos on helicopters. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.

  • Thanks kindly. I appreciate it and wish you great success.

  • More bull s**t tips? or what

  • If you watch the video, you will see BS stands for Blazing stars.

  • I've heard carbon fiber is produces glitches.

    Not sure though

  • Well this totally stopped mine. You can use a plastic nyrod or straw too, if you feel I'm wrong.

  • do have any rc cars/trucks?

  • All broke. LOL

  • gooo nightflyer! u pwn

  • Thanks kindly.

  • nice

  • Thanks.

  • Nice idea Dave, on mine I ran the antenna wire out the right side back through the boom, with 6'' hanging loose, seems to be working fine now.

  • Great. Thanks.

  • works fine, even with shorter blades, another winner !

  • Thanks kindly

  • roller skates at all ages, typically for americans

  • Yeah, well it is big in Germany too.

  • lol roller skates? The point of that was?

  • The point was that I skate down there and didnt bother to take them off to test out this heli. Amazing how many people like to put my fun down!

  • it made me laugh to see dave on those roller skates. sometimes, you're too pragmatic for your own good, dave.

and great camera work at the end, jeff.

  • Yes, I rollerskate down there all the time and at the rinks every week for 30 years. It is good excercise and good for the brain too,

  • i read some where, that antenna are not so friendly with cf and making a coil out of ur antenna not a good idea as well.

but it seems like you beating the oods there by doing it both.

still a good vid after all. 5*

  • I'm with kapitanC on this, wrapping the wire on CF is bad, also it's not a base loaded antenna, it's a helical. At the distance being flown almost anything would work. But good flying being shown.

    Steve

  • I worked in rf tuning for years and found that it really breaks up any dead spots, but range is reduced a little, but with micro helis, no problem. Thanks.

  • i rest my case ... :) thanx sir, one more lesson for me.

  • Also, it stopped the glitching, which was the point of the fix. It works like Hitec's "Rubber Ducky" TX coiled antennae did and if it helps your glitching too, then go for it.

  • Jeff ................ u have become quite a good flyer now m8, cant wait to get my HBK2, only a few more days.

looking forward to more vids from you Dave.

  • Jeff is really progressing well. Thanks.

  • INVERTED, now that was funny. Thanks for the laugh! your havin too much fun son.

  • Thanks very much. We try.

  • LOL you had me worried there for a minute Dave i thought somebody had maybe annoyed you when i saw the title of the video then when i clicked on it i saw it meant Blazing Star haha.

Looks like you sorted the glitching out there bud, i wonder if having smaller blades makes it more efficient as they would draw less current but maybe the higher RPMs needed would cancel that out?

    Anyways Nice vid as always.

    Cheers Lee.

  • Thanks kindly. Yes it will run longer, as there is less load when the motors are running happily at higher speed. I should try to time it, but have since put the stock blades back on.

  • Fly that big red/white plane in the background.

  • I have. See my video VIntage Bipe goes down in cornfield to see it. There are other vids on it too.

  • ha ha love it rollerskatin and flying, ican't do either very well,on my ass with heli stuffed in the wall, what a legend

  • LOL Thanks for those kind words.

  • i personally think this man needs help

  • Yes, What do you have in mind? I have some gardening work that needs done.

  • i thought shorter blades would give less lift power

  • It does have less lifting power, but still enough as you can see.

  • Nice vide like 5-5

  • Thanks kindly.

  • She really flies great Dave, nice and stable.

  • Thanks. Yes pretty nice.

  • Great inverted flying! lol. I thought you would have edited that out, but it's cool that you left it in. Adds a little twist to an already good video. 5*

    Jeff

  • IT was a nice surprise when you did it. Thanks Jeff.

  • hmmm...

  • So thats how you get our coaxal heli's to fly inverted lol, good tip for the little glitches as i have a little glitch on one of my heli's and it stoped me from using it so nowe i can get it back out of the box and do your little mod to it,thanks for sharing Dave,5*

  • Thanks kindly. Hope it helps. Good luck.

  • I was all excited fo the "inverted flying" but NOOOOOOOO! You and your trickery of words, hAHAH!

  • Well at least you can see what it would look like ifinverted. LOL

  • WOW! Those are some old skates, LOL!

  • Yes almost 6 years old. I skate once a week in a rink for 20 years and they are nicely broken in.

  • WOW! this looks like a really nice heli! how much dose it cost?

    Thx :)

  • Thanks. Click the link for today's prices in the description box, as they have discounts.

  • kk thx

  • Thanks.

  • retired,r/c toys,roller skates,dave you`re the MAN!another great video,keep `em coming!!!total RESPECT

  • Thanks very kindly.

  • When i saw the title when it said B.S. i was like =|, lol i tohught it meant bull****

  • LOL.

  • Thanks for the heads up on the antenna issue never thought of that as a problem thanks

  • Your welcome.

  • nice vid!

  • THank you.

  • cool

  • Thanks.

  • awsome vid

  • Thank you.
