So what about a guy who is 5' 7". Would you still recommend a single point when in order to keep the rifle off the ground it has to be so short that mobility is gone? At my height carrying a 14.7" rifle in a standard single point means the rifle is not only touching the ground, it's practically laying on it.
@spam1712 I agree totally. I have a one point system that I've hade great success with. I tie a 3' piece of an old bootlace(beyond affordable) around the trigger guard and tie the other end around my neck really tight in case I have to run and pull people to safety. That way it doesn't hit my sensitive knees, I can pull a person with each hand, and then one or two people can hang onto my rifle and get dragged to safety while returning fire with said rifle. We were all doing shit like this in Nam.
I run a Blackhawk 3 point sling on my M4 because it is so versatile and can be switched to 1 point configuration in a second with the pull of a strap for transition from strong to weak side and back again it gives the best of both worlds in 1 sling.
1 point slings suck balls for everything except close quarter stuff and thats it.
I much prefer 2 or 3 point slings. They can still be used fast, not quite as fast as single but fast enough for me. Its not like almost all of us are going to be gun fighting in our streets.
I only see the use for single points in competitions and thats it
@Kataquan Knee pads.. You should always keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction. And the only reason you rest your weapon is in a malfunction and you have to transition to your side arm rather than clearing it, or you are out of ammunition and your transitioning to your side arm.
@Kataquan no need to safety your weapon before you transition, you should only be transitioning to pistol after your rifle has run dry, or you get a click or some other type of malfunction...the whole point of the transition is to get another gun into the fight ASAP after your 1st one runs dry/malfunctions..if your on the range transitioning before your rifle runs dry(kind of pointless to me), then yes, safety on would be better....Thank you that is all.
I like these guys, arent afraid to tell it like it is. Theres no need for slings that can adjust 1 through 3point. Your weapon should be simple and extremely effective, no need for foregrips with strobe lights and lasers. If I got into a firefight I would want people like these guys to have my back, plain and simple.
No such thing as comfort in a gunfight? Then why make ergonomic grips, knee pads, elbow pads, tactile gloves, moisture wicking undies... The fact of the matter is that if you aren't always fighting with your gear, you're going to be better off than someone who is. Adrenaline is unpredictable and more unreliable than a Century CETME.
@DDTea Those things are tools when your adrenaline turns off! Bang your knees hard without kneepads, you won't feel it when your adrenaline turns on, but you will feel it seriously injured and swollen later when your adrenaline's turns off.
@IMFDB I agree with everything you just said. However, you have to remember that adrenaline glands can be exhausted. Also, adrenaline can also *decrease* your performance by reducing decision-making abilities and fine motor coordination. So again, adrenaline is a real monkey-wrench and too unreliable for my liking :)
@DDTea Well, that's the difference between discomfort and liability. Gun hitting your knees hard enough to leave a bruise = reason to change to a different sling. Gun hitting your knees and being annoying = workable.
@josephtorres11 It is definitely TAD Gear softshell jacket. Which is around $400 plus dollars!!! Good stuff though. If you want a "replica" you can always go for the Condor Soft shell. I dont really like Condor products but I was suprised to see that Condors softshell is decent and for around $80 you wont kick you but knowing you blew $400 bucks on a TAD
If you dont believe Travis Haley is the real deal check out the Blackwater Sniper video here on Youtube which shows him taking out Insurgents in Iraq for real.
@obamaisanazipig I just have seen a few comments saying that hes a fake.... I was just saying that there is evidence on youtube that proves he has seen action.
Adrenaline takes over.,. You'll keep your ass moving if you and your buddies' life is on the line. And humans can tolerate lots of pain. Deal with it.... Get used to it.
I don't really understand how it's supposed to be acceptable to run while you AK or AR is slamming you in the knees? Deal with it? Yea I'll deal with it when the damn thing shatters my knee cap or my muzzle goes down in the mud... Most people I know are not robots and cannot flip a switch to turn off pain.
@Trac453 I mean I suppose maybe if you're wearing kneepads it wouldn't be an issue, but I know if my front sightpost on my AK banged into my kneecap while running, it's probably going to shatter my kneecap, and I'm very sure I'll feel that if not drop to the ground or be limping on one leg. kneepads may prevent that though depending on how strong they are I suppose, I'll give the benefit of the doubt on that.
Well maybe you just dont have balls. I wear a 1 point every day and run a lot with it. It ALWAYS hits my knees. And try climbing a ladder for VBSS. that sucks too. But gues what the solution is. Have some discipline in your body and suck it up.
I wear a one-point every day with my M4. Im lucky if 10% of the swings miss my knees. But thats just how it is. And try carrying something or someone while running. It only gets worse. Climb a ladder for VBSS and it sucks too.
Bottom line. It's gonna hit your knees. The Solution... Grow some balls and have some discipline in your body. Suck it up!
@M5Beast Last time I checked most SWAT and US Armed Forces come with knee guards standard issue. As for the muzzle you need to improvise or switch to your secondary.
