@hirdy6 I will watch with interest to see if this and my previous comment meet approval and are displayed here. Because when we received the replacement for the faulty unit sent to us initially, it proved less useful than our old phone that we paid less than $100 for and unlike the hub has an inbuilt answering machine and has two hand sets. Not to mention the sound quality was much better on them than the hub. The brand was Uniden, vastly superior to Telstra who's customer service is s***house.
We received one as part of a 'bundle', two days after it arrived the touch screen stopped working. I then had to argue over the phone with a bloke at Telstra who was very hard to understand due to a heavy accent. I ended up having to stuff about, waiting for a 'recovery bag' to be sent then I had to repackage the thing into the bag and take it to post office and then resume waiting for replacement while they ascertained that I was not a criminal and that I had told the truth about failing.
@hirdy6 We're sorry to hear of your frustrating experience with the T-Hub. Are there any issues that we can follow up on? We'd like to point out that the T-Hub does have built-in voicemail - which is more convenient than a standard answering machine...We're still concerned about a) the screen failure and b) the sound quality. Can you expand on the particular issues with the sound? Was there crackling, echoes, faintness? We'd like to make sure any instance of hardware failure is fully detailed.
@TelstraKnowHow With my answering machine which I picked up for under $100 and included the phone base and two handsets, it gave an audible signal when a message had been left, and a display of how many messages there were. All I had to do was press a button to hear them, I could also do so away from home. With voicemail, you have to make a call for which you are charged to retrieve the messages for which you are also charged, how is that more convenient?
@hirdy6 Voicemail gives you the convenience of accessing messages online and away from home and the added advantage of listening to voice messages in any particular order you like. In comparison to the service you described, the T-Hub does alert you to when you receive a voice message. An audio alert is played and the number of voice messages you have received is presented as an alert on the T-Hub screen. As for fees, there are no charges for the retrieval of voice messages from the T-Hub.
@TelstraKnowHow My old phone also gives me the convenience of accessing online and away from home. as for 'the added advantage of listening to voice messages in any particular order you like' What advantage is there in that? Both audio and visual alerts are presented with old phone, which I will stick with. You guys really should do a bit of research regarding your competition. I also don't have to call a service to hear my messages, I merely press a button, much quicker and more convenient.
@hirdy6 You are obviously unaware of what sound quality is, listen to the quality of this piece of junk and then compere it to Uniden or most other phones. Since I left my previous message we received our bill, needless to say it was not the package we had agreed to. Fortunately I was able to sort things out with your billing department but in all honesty I should not of had to. Then at the end of the call you have the temerity to ask me to take part in a survey? Please, get real.
@TelstraKnowHow Audio quality of this thing is NO COMPARISON to the phone I have mentioned for under $100, it has vastly superior sound quality. Try to stick to the facts rather than putting spin on the situation by coming out with rubbish like that. Sound quality on this is disgraceful and I believe you know that. As mentioned in my first comment, I did indeed return the first unit we received currently the 2nd unit sent to us is housed in a drawer for reasons mentioned in my earlier comments.
i got one the other day and it is not rubbish, you can surf the internet like a mini laptop, watch movies, listen to music, make phone calls and it looks good also the wireless reception is great so tell me how it is overrated it does everything it should do and more.

Wouldn't get it, I mean, I've got the iPhone 4, parent's have smart phones too, we barely use the home phone, mobile is the way to go. Fits in your pocket and does a lot more. But I guess it could work with other people
i have had a thub for six months .. and its been nothing but trouble .. it freezes and dosnt work most of the time .. sux for surfing the net .... dont get one ...
Biggest pile of junk I'be ever owned - and I owned a Ford Cortina! Freezes won't open more than one web page without crashing. Phone headset doesn't work properly and you can't get a refund without the original box. Complete Crap!
the wife rocked up one saturday with one and i hit the roof.. biggest paper weight peice of junk we own. Im sorry i have to look at it and even worse use it.. battery is about 20 mins off the stand using the net. useless. the handset phone is just as bad too.. crap battery life and gets hot if your using it for more than 15 mins etc.. never hated anything more
Telstra and Optus are good if you want internet that is about 20kbps faster ( which translates to downloading facebook at around .000001sec faster) than TPG, IInet or even dodo!
Telstra and Optus own their lines and so can determine who to give preferences to, of course their own customers!
At the same time offering, less data limits at twice the cost!

myslef and my in laws have indtalled the thub and the tbox and neither work i am returning them to the telstra store where i will get some help, i had left my phone number with telstra and had no return phone call, thanks alot.
Is this a joke? I don't know why Telstra is 15 years in the past trying to sell the home phone. Does anyone even use a home phone? Why would I go to the lounge room to use this when I'm already in front of a computer that can do more?
Seriously I don't think Telstra have thought this concept through, rather just guess that this will be cool and popular because it has a touch screen.
If Telstra what to win back customers they need products that customers will actually use.
For whoever was bagging out Telstra saying that TPG was better, you do know that TPG rent their lines from Telstra right?
I was with TPG for a whole year and it was the WORST experience with customer service i'v ever had, oh unless you can speak Indian then you should be good.
I'm on TPG right now... It's awesome! I'm loving it and last time I spoke to a Telstra representative they asked me if I wanted Naan or chappatti bread with my order!
I've also had some cut outs with TPG, but very few and far between! It's worth the extra download limit and ALOT cheaper fee's!!!
@GhettoPharmacist US TAX PAYERS STILL OWN TELSTRA. I expect nothing less than good customer service, and not to be ripped off. Unfortunately telstra is crap for service and continually hold australia to ransom through their monopoly.
Like most things Telstra does: CRAP, or if you prefer: faulty, limited and overpriced.
I LOVE my iphone, my ipad and my other beautiful apple products ... and unlike much of Telstra's stuff ... they actually work so well. (also enjoyed HTC products pre-iphone).
Telstra hates Skype and other VOIP products because they offer consumers MUCH better value than their own overpriced products.
Why does it run out of memory when trying to open the bigpondvideo webpage? How much memory does it have? It just freezes all the time. All you can do is boot it again. Next boot is through the window!
Garbage device, why would I want to stand at my phone base to use a cut down version of the internet? Get a smartphone on WiFi, HTC phones do a million things this thing will never do.
haha only the biggest noobs who dont know about technology would be conned into buying this peice of trash. This changes nothing, its really the most average technology, just glossed up and sold to telstra's tech un-savvy customers.
These are people who are already paying 100's for broad band, the equivelant broadband plan to mine on Bigpond is 150$, i pay 50$ with TPG, and i get good customer service. Unlike when i did have bigpond, people ACTUALLY answer my calls. YAY
@joeyNbea The T-Hub does not currently support Flash 9 or greater, but a release will be made available shortly that will enable users to access a wider range of YouTube videos.
@christanbeadleslovax Thanks for your comment, there was a Facebook upgrade last week which affected the T-Hub - this should be fixed now. Please let us know if you're still having issues.
@Vik13vik i have to strongly agree with you on it.my comment is pending approval, but it prob wont be as i said exactly what i thought of T-Hub.glad you got the highest rated comment as its the truth...have a great day!
I have the t hub on it's charger all day and when I come home and use it the charge symbol comes back on (when it is still on the cradle). Fixing please!
I have one at the lack of browser memory annoys me!!! I come home, click internet and it has an no memory error! I have to restart it, which takes about 3 minutes, and open the internet. I have called support but they just give me the 'we're working on it' garbage. I recommend no one gets one until this annoying issue is fixed.
P.S. It runs out even when you stay on the T-Hub based sites.
the reason i keep a home phone is because a landline is independent of the crap electricity supply we have and it's cheaper for everyone we know to call us on the landline with unlimited talking hours.
@nazrila The T-Hub is actually designed for a different purpose and operates pretty differently. It's designed to be more of a hub of the home, rather than a portable media device.
@THATenbay You can log onto MyAccount on Telstra.com to see calls yet to be billed. In the next few weeks, you'll be able to see this sort of information on your mobile, by going to the BigPond mobile portal, and going to the My tab. Stay tuned.
It is great if did not freeze all the time, having to do a restart almost always, the opera browser is consonantly out of memory. just another Telstra product that promises more than it delivers. Disappointed
I think Telstra has taken the wrong direction here. Home phones will soon become all but obsolete. Telstra needs to invest more money into more useful devices - maybe exclusive apps for high-end phones and devices on their network?
@waynoracer There are some YouTube videos that are in a format which the T-Hub does not support. If the issue persists for all videos that you attempt to play, turn the device off and on. If this does not address the issue, please contact Telstra Technical Support on 1300 136 841
@liverpoolFCrok The T-Hub is an innovative to take the home phone to the next level - integrating it with broadband internet, and making it the fastest, most interactive internet-based home phone on the market.
Perhaps... but I think this gadget is just admitting the home phone is dying.
Especially since the wonders of Naked DSL...
Telstra should focus on faster... cheaper wireless networks... its where the future is. Telstra might actually have a chance of "Changing the way Australians stay in touch"....
You guys should have used Android on it instead of some propitiatory OS. It would have been a unique tablet PC/Phone that would have been pretty solid competition for the iPad.
You can get the t hub free atm with one of the packages for telstra phone and internet. Problem is my friend is stuck in a telstra plan and her service is intermittent at best with plenty of phone calls to telstra.
I would prefer a decent connection to a fancy t hub thanks.
I do have to say i was thinking of getting it but then i heard u can only use it if u have BOGPOND internet. Im with TPG Internet but i have a Telstra Home Phone so yea.
I can see the T-hub going nowhere , and going there very fast indeed. Look at the popularaty of the iPhone and VOIP services like Skype for instance, My sister for example doesn't have a landline at her house, she uses her mobile phone for all her communication, and she has a USB mobile modem stick thing for her laptop. SKype is free and very competatively price for long distance phone calls, and if you want all the multimedia get an iPhone.
Is this international or only available in Australia? since it doesnt seem that popular. Anyways I think this looks alright, not really mind-blowing, but its a good start on the idea that everyone would use a some kind of touch home phone in the future. But at the moment i would prefer just a ordinary telephone. It dont seem we need music capability and other stuff. But still , fine product.
@JokerFan252 The T-Hub is only available in Australia. And yes, we believe that home phones are here to stay but they will be increasingly more versatile as communications technologies evolve.
@SuperGadgetMeister We think the T-Hub is extremely innovative – we don't know of anything else on the Australian market with all of this functionality.
HAHA! That's exactly what I was thinking. Underneath all those claims of improvement and "making things easier" it's just a computer with internet access. How is that any easier or ground-breaking when my computer can do that already? Oh, and to Telstra, please stop sending people to my door. I really don't want any of your rubbish internet plans.
@SuperGadgetMeister your joking right?, its not voip, it connects to your phone line, its not a computer, its a mini brick with a glass window,it feels cold to touch, its frigid and doesnt perform most of the functions it implies to do. They should all be recalled! Not even the kids can play with it. Dont get me wrong, i have most other Telstra products excepting foxtell, but this one is a fop!
@100Underscores The T-Hub is aimed at helping families stay in touch, but yes, we are reinventing the phone in a way. The T-Hub shows customers that there are reasons to keep a landline connected at home.
CONS/ handset /hub not the best with speaker phone, u can hear your own voice come through the speaker when using either the handset or the hub to make phone call, thats with the phone about a foot from my face, also click on youtube vid and sometimes plays wrong vid,,,,,,,i may just have got a bad unit ,,,,,though i was told i am not the only one to ring in with the phone problem,,,,,,PROS/ hub has a good feel to it ,looks good, just as quick as pc,,,,overall the hub is a good device,

the reason i keep a home phone is because a landline is independent of the crap electricity supply we have and it's cheaper for everyone we know to call us on the landline with unlimited talking hours.

Oh wow... it's a Telstra rebadged Apple iPad... that doesn't work as well as an iPad eh... :P
nazrila 1 year ago
@nazrila The T-Hub is actually designed for a different purpose and operates pretty differently. It's designed to be more of a hub of the home, rather than a portable media device.
TelstraKnowHow 1 year ago
@TelstraKnowHow So its a Media Center + Phone?
nazrila 1 year ago
@nazrila It's a home phone with internet features that are handy to be accessed quickly and easily.

unrelated - is there anyway you can check your mobile phone bill on your mobile ? i seem to always go over my plan -.-
THATenbay 1 year ago
@THATenbay You can log onto MyAccount on Telstra.com to see calls yet to be billed. In the next few weeks, you'll be able to see this sort of information on your mobile, by going to the BigPond mobile portal, and going to the My tab. Stay tuned.

It is great if did not freeze all the time, having to do a restart almost always, the opera browser is consonantly out of memory. just another Telstra product that promises more than it delivers. Disappointed
eacebase 1 year ago
@eacebase We are addressing a number of browser issues in upcoming software updates which should improve the performance of the browser.
TelstraKnowHow 1 year ago
I think Telstra has taken the wrong direction here. Home phones will soon become all but obsolete. Telstra needs to invest more money into more useful devices - maybe exclusive apps for high-end phones and devices on their network?

Is there anyway at all to set the time displayed on the cordless handset to 12 hr time not 24? Kinda annoying..
Love the T-HUB and such so fare. Big step up from the monocrome B & green handset :D
tek5828 1 year ago
@tek5828 At the moment time can only be displayed in 24 hour format.

you tube wont load on my t hub it wont play the videos past 3 seconds
waynoracer 1 year ago
@waynoracer There are some YouTube videos that are in a format which the T-Hub does not support. If the issue persists for all videos that you attempt to play, turn the device off and on. If this does not address the issue, please contact Telstra Technical Support on 1300 136 841

@liverpoolFCrok The T-Hub is an innovative to take the home phone to the next level - integrating it with broadband internet, and making it the fastest, most interactive internet-based home phone on the market.

@TelstraKnowHow I think you're forgetting the Verizon Hub...
thatulsta 1 year ago
@TelstraKnowHow
Perhaps... but I think this gadget is just admitting the home phone is dying.
Especially since the wonders of Naked DSL...
Telstra should focus on faster... cheaper wireless networks... its where the future is. Telstra might actually have a chance of "Changing the way Australians stay in touch"....

looks like ipad chopped in half!!!
so does this guys chin
toiletbrains 1 year ago
You guys should have used Android on it instead of some propitiatory OS. It would have been a unique tablet PC/Phone that would have been pretty solid competition for the iPad.

Can more the one T hub screen be used in the same house at the same time?

@MrBUMBLEB33 We don't recommend having more than 1 T-Hub screen on the one phone line, no.

this is such a copy of the ipad, except this can make calls...
Johnny800s 1 year ago
You can get the t hub free atm with one of the packages for telstra phone and internet. Problem is my friend is stuck in a telstra plan and her service is intermittent at best with plenty of phone calls to telstra.
I would prefer a decent connection to a fancy t hub thanks.
clown192 1 year ago
T-hub is very similar to the ipad. the only difference is that this can make calls...
wiiwheel64 1 year ago
I do have to say i was thinking of getting it but then i heard u can only use it if u have BOGPOND internet. Im with TPG Internet but i have a Telstra Home Phone so yea.
noe39584 1 year ago
I can see the T-hub going nowhere , and going there very fast indeed. Look at the popularaty of the iPhone and VOIP services like Skype for instance, My sister for example doesn't have a landline at her house, she uses her mobile phone for all her communication, and she has a USB mobile modem stick thing for her laptop. SKype is free and very competatively price for long distance phone calls, and if you want all the multimedia get an iPhone.
Lachlant1984 1 year ago
Is this international or only available in Australia? since it doesnt seem that popular. Anyways I think this looks alright, not really mind-blowing, but its a good start on the idea that everyone would use a some kind of touch home phone in the future. But at the moment i would prefer just a ordinary telephone. It dont seem we need music capability and other stuff. But still , fine product.
JokerFan252 1 year ago
@JokerFan252 The T-Hub is only available in Australia. And yes, we believe that home phones are here to stay but they will be increasingly more versatile as communications technologies evolve.

Its called a computer with VOIP, thanks Telstra, you are so innovative :)
SuperGadgetMeister 1 year ago 10
@SuperGadgetMeister We think the T-Hub is extremely innovative – we don't know of anything else on the Australian market with all of this functionality.

it is actually better than this though

@TelstraKnowHow
...iPhone... you sell them right ?...
crinkelcutchip 1 year ago
@SuperGadgetMeister
FlyingHouseTV 1 year ago
@SuperGadgetMeister doen't iinet have something like this?
LAHrebirth 1 year ago
@SuperGadgetMeister your joking right?, its not voip, it connects to your phone line, its not a computer, its a mini brick with a glass window,it feels cold to touch, its frigid and doesnt perform most of the functions it implies to do. They should all be recalled! Not even the kids can play with it. Dont get me wrong, i have most other Telstra products excepting foxtell, but this one is a fop!

100Underscores 1 year ago
