You failed to mention something very important about slavery. All that "white men" had to do to get slaves was to bring goods that appealed to the kings of tribes in West Africa. The kings (black people) would gladly sell their own subjects (black people). For moralists, the most important aspect of that trade should be that Muslims were selling goods to the African kingdoms and the African kingdoms were paying with their own people.
I am not saying that slavery is a OK thing to practice.

Curiously, you left out the word "own". Our own perception of reality is a blend of what we experience and what we are conditioned to believe and think. We have difficulty in accepting what is actually there and we prefer the illusion of what we think is there. If your own perception is not affected by your conditioning, then why leave out the modifier that provides the key to the above quoted statement?
