Ya live both in Collaroy and in Gosford at the same time. Go to Sydney every weekend and in the holidays. Have also previously filmed the trucks in Harbord. And yes things certainly have changed within the decade. Used to have URM collecting the bottles and papers and collex collecting the normal around 2002. Will post ASAP.
I prefer the Collex/Violia ones myself. They had a split truck. I miss the old trucks taking 10 minutes through a street of flats with the side loader, especially in Dee Why and Collaroy.
Anyhow fellas i like this ost of the URM trucks.. haha that new Gen V wont stay white and new lookin for long.. urm have a bad habit of neglecting their trucks.. and they know it ;) but having said that they where the best mob iv worked for yet and their where a few trucks in the old belrose yard that hard to this day he fasted arms iv ever operated before.. i currently drive a raptor pak and not a great fan. Use will find URM will make use of a few of the sidepacs mabey send sum to fivedock....
That'd be pretty interesting if they moved the Ingleside yard, would suck for the Pittwater guys but would benefit the Mosman drivers - the new Cromer yard must be bloody big if they can accomodate all those trucks! Yer I was told 122 and 123 are from Pittwater; hate to think which trucks are being used on their veg collections and the clean-ups =] Those Mercs from Gosford would've made a cool video on here, believe those suction-type lifters were popular back then... shame they're long gone...
Whereabouts did you work when you were with URM? They seem to be an alright company to work for by what I've heard (at least when the trucks are working haha)... soon I'll be working there so I'll get a first-hand experience, the pay seems to be the only downside. I just feel sorry for the drivers when their trucks break down so often, would give me the shits if mine wasn't maintained properly... you'd think they'd take a bit more care of their equipment that makes the business possible!
Yeh u would think they would but johnson is a tight ass and dont wana spend the money pointing out the obviouse.. they where ok to work for pretty cruisy i guess. Sita where good and so are cleanaway. Dont do pittwater veg unless u like pulling ticks out of ur head every 5 mins haha.. try get on units or something or even the barge mon and friday ;)
yeah the yard was at belrose when i worked for them next to the big tip. They had a massive fleet of mercedes benz RL's think all where the older style MJE's and they had a few old accos 042, 083 and a few others and just 1 or 2 new RL's international acco. All the trucks from all the contracts where in the one yard aswell. No doubt the pittwater boys are hating the old shit boxes with slow compactors and and slow bin lifters haha
They where awefull to work wth cause the bins wuld slide into the hopper if there was frost on them and what not and the hopper was lower cut then a sidepack so fter a few tips it would over flow , but still was good to see they where still putting a few ancient trucks into service for a while. In the end they replaced most wth rotar grab arms like the MJ's have then got rid of them all together, accept one which was replaced with an iveco cab then deregested anyway then that cab was put on a MJ
Sorry to be so blunt in the post below lol. I was just lookin at stuff on youtube and stumbled across this.. i am a garbo myself for for cleanaway baulkham hills. I have checked a few of your posts out guys and i like what use are doing.. the trucks are interesting and how they work aswell.. depending what it is that is.. hehe. I worked for Sita at Gosford 7 years ago and they had some real ancient trucks that came from BFI take over. SL with mercedes benz V2222 cabs and suction cap bin lifters.
Hey guys dont know any of you but i have mates that work for urm and worked there some years ago and iv herd they are moving the pittwater and mosman trucks from terry hills to the cromer yard (id say thats warringah then) and as for the sidepaks (heaps of shit) if u ask me they are going to keep a few as spares and the rest will all be GenV's and they are also waiting on 2 or 3 new JP5's as 122 and 123 are pittwater trucks
That's how it seems at the moment, the GenVs are coming in a lot now so a lot of the MkIVs and Sidepaks are coming off the road. Don't know if some of the MkIVs or Sidepaks will be kept as spares or something? As for the RLs, JP5s and the 1 HEIL in the fleet seem to be the permanent trucks... unless they're also getting new RLs too? Still trying to figure out the whole story...
AWESOME! Nice to see some new trucks. That MKIV Refuse and the SidePak are definitely ex-Sutherland Trucks becuase they have the "amplifier" on top of the cab. I had a feeling the paint scheme would be identical to the Pittwater trucks. Anyway, I assume we're going to be seeing more GenV's, and the Sutherland Trucks are just temporary?
Great to see some new trucks for sure; be awesome if the current trucks made the permanent fleet for the next 5 years, unfortunately not the case. Cool to have GenVs around -- didn't expect to see them in my region for ages, let alone my actual council! Yer figured the paint scheme would be the same as all the other councils, would be nice if they made it a bit more lively. A lot more GenV footage to come, and as far as I know the Sutherlands are just temporary unless they keep some as spares?
some of these trucks look like they have just been resprayed, except the first truck, didnt URM need to get new trucks for the contract?? but a good video.
I'm guessing that the resprayed trucks are temporary until new trucks arrive. Remember, URM would have only found out a few weeks before the contract started, and it takes ages to build a truck.
Yes Aussierefuse is pretty much right; URM found out only a couple of months before the contract started and most of these trucks were bought 2nd hand from Sutherland, with a few taken from other URM yards. I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of the side loaders will be brand new (about 17-18 of them) and the rear loaders seem to be existing trucks, except for one at the moment. So far 5 of the new side loaders have arrived, they're coming in gradually...
Oh the GenVs are awesome... it will be a shame when they start to get dirty :/ Some of the Veolia drivers stayed to work for URM, but a decent amount didn't hang around because of the not-so-good wages and the 7am start. It's a bit hard to contrast between the Veolia/URM services as there have been a few changes to the collections if you get what I mean? However, when it comes down to the workload Veolia/URM put on their drivers, I'm thinking URM might be a little better.
Holy crap Mitch!! 90 view after this vid being here for 8 hours as of now?!?!! Things are looking good on this vid's success haha!
So in the descr. when you say " (residential garbage / recycling) ", does that mean it does one for first pt. of day and the other later, or it sometimes does either one, whichever it's needed for?? Also there still is one SidePak currently in the fleet? (contd.)
I sure would like to see one of the JM's doing commerc. if you can find it, it'd make for an interesting vid since they're mostly seen doing public bins...
Anyways the video was just fantastic, bet the GenV driver was thrilled to have a new truck after contract renewal :D Loved the second MJ and its spectcular paint job (most noticeable on the ARM!!! WOW!) (contd.)
Also esp. enjoyed the early morning paper collection, I had thought you got that in the afternoon but I'm probably thinking of the wrong date, when'd you take this? (contd.)
How couldn't I fav/5star/feature this, certainly enjoyed (obviously had a hell of a lot to say LOL!!) and I'm looking forward to seeing more auto greens once you post it! Also glad to hear you've got lots of good stuff to come (I know I've heard how it all was 'achieved' but it's hard keeping track of how much is still accumulated/waiting to be posted, I too have a massive amount and great variety of videos to come for at least that much time. . . . .
lol 4 x seperate comments!!! Yer it did pretty well in the first day, got up to just under 200 in the 1st 24hrs =] When I say "residential garbage/recycling" I refer to a load of garbage and a load of recycle per truck. There are actually a fair few Sidepaks in the fleet, just not on greens. I'm trying to catch one of the JMs; may be a bit hard finding one on commercial because they're generally quick stops for only an 80 or 120L which are manually lifted, though I'll see what I can find...
A lot of the drivers I've spoken to love the new machines!!! Not surprised either, they're great trucks the GenVs! :) That paper collection was actually from the late afternoon just after 5:30pm... couldn't resist a video in the semi-darkness :D Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the fav/feature/5stars =] =] I'm just like you, know how everything was achieved by you, just hard keeping track of everything haha
Yer there's still a fair few Sidepaks working on the residential garbage and recycling routes, a lot are parked back at the yard I believe... seems to be just while the new trucks are gradually coming in. haha Yer that was the dayy I screwed up BIGTIME in the am... oh regrets, kinda :)
Oh they are fine from my POV, and I reckon they'll do pretty well for the length of the contract as long as they keep the trucks maintained and the workers happy at a reasonable level: they should just be paying their drivers a higher wage.
5 stars mate!. in warringah, if someone has 2 bins do they drop one in the truck cos they do round here. they put 2 in today but they let me keep one.
