  • good work here

  • her handwriting is that of my mom's... :) i love this professor.. :)

  • I hated how she said one micron (which is a micrometer) is 1/1000th of a millimeter. She should use the meter as the basis from which to explain a micron, and that is 10^-6 meters (or one-millionth of a meter).

  • The professor knows how to surf too?!! Amazing!

  • Professor Diamond rocks! Thanks to UCB for sharing!

  • Have the sound all the way up on my computer as well as the you tube playback and I can barely hear her. Maybe a better mike is in order. If my kids make any noise at all I miss what she says.

  • @GWPrendergast

me too, I use keepvid.com to keep for play back later. So,I can here her properly. Thanks for this class sharing. It s very useful.

  • @SamaelTePersigoaTi Thanks for the help!

  • she is an awesome teacher, i would enjoy having a teacher like her when i go to collage . I enjoy her lectures very much! :)

  • Great teacher. I wish the UC-Berkeley would hire an educated cameraman who would know how to shoot and when.

  • Why does this skeleton's skull have a small hole just above the zygomatic process?

  • Marry me .

  • This is so great!

  • Great lectures

  • I love Miss Marion...but the camera guy...srsly? I know it's for a grade so I hope the rest of the lectures he'll get with the damn program. He's so slow! And for an older woman, Miss Marion is lightning fast. I have to rewind to keep up.

  • Very helpful and well presented. I am inspired by Prof. Marian Diamond.

  • great teacher way better than my Anatomy teacher. Her lectures are helping me get through my class. Thank you Professor.

  • These slides were already presented in the previous lecture (02).

  • my hood cul

  • Another mature student here, doing anatomy for the first time at the age of 47 (Animal Management BSc), I am finding these lectures so helpful. I can watch them over & over and never tire of listening to Professor Diamond. I love the way she writes everything down and repeats everything. She also makes me feel that it really is worth learning at my age.

  • can anybody please answer?.. Wouldn't the pelvic bone be considered as part of the Axial skeleton? it also lies directly midline.

  • The pelvis bone consist of three parts the sacrum, coccyx, and hip bone which is made of three bones fused together 1.The ilium is the uppermost and largest bone of the pelvis is the largest and upper most part 2.the ischium is the posterior-inferior (back-lower) part 3.the pubis is the anterior (front) part of the hip bone.

the pubic bone is not considered part of the axial skeleton but the sacrum and coccyx are

  • @sarahmariao I feel like we are in the discussion sections of the actual class.

  • no!

  • no, the axial skeleton is only composed of the bones of the skull, hyoid, the ribs, and the vertebral column. the pelvic bone(s) are part of the appendicular skeleton.

  • @dillow086 I don't know if this is a good explanation, so here it goes... remember like she mentioned, for the appendicular bones; there are girdles. Definition of a girdle is: an encircling or ringlike structure "Pectoral girle" which consists of clavicle and scapula, while "Pelvic girdle" consists of crest of illium/coxal bone/etc, (Google an image/ a colored diagram).

    Hope it helps :)

  • Thank you, you are really a DIAMOND Ms. Marion and I wish you longevity, health, happyness and that you continue to find joy in teaching others and changing lives positively.

  • Thanks for this, I live in a ver issolated place in Australia, I have to do all this by corrospondense! It's nice to sit down and watch an actual lecture. Looove this lady, what a legend, Thank you

  • esta profe is the best ... I have a tedious anatomy class that i have to go to, but seing this professor makes me love anatomy.

  • at 30:31, Can I ask something?

when we get infections and viruses how do we know that it doesn't get all the way to the tempral bone? I mean, shouldn't there be filters in the nasal and ear cavities that protect us from infections entering the head?

  • The mastoid (bump behind your ear) is full of sinuses (open spaces) and bacteria from an untreated inner ear infection can make their way through to the mastoid. The infection of the mastoid is mastoiditis. Once in the mastoid, bacteria can make their way to the meninges possibily leading to meningitis. Due to antibiotics, mastoiditis is not seen much any more.

  • Thank you very much, Dr Puglia.

  • hahaha

    ok! sorry...

  • quando eu quero ver algo não pode passar de 10 minutos, agora isso aqui... ¬¬''

  • These videos are associated with youtube, 'cause of this they have more than 10minutes... but please, do not complain because knowledge is always the best thing to see :)

    valeuu

  • i everyday watching her lecture

  • coool...i love your comment : )

  • hey u thankx u for ur comment but i have Quetion for u did u took anatomy and physiology before or u will taking this course sometime soon

  • i just loved her style of teaching.she is a great teacher.

  • her name diamond, and she is diamond

  • She is so old and so enthusiastic. She is truly an example. Her knowledge is owesome.Apart from her knowlege i like her dressing sence and hair style. She is lovely

  • ucberkeley is the best.

    Many thanks from Thailand.

  • Sura4 My mother was from thailand, Korat thailand. And yes UC Burkley is pretty great.

  • This ownes! More of this free knowledge!

Maybe culture lessons so that people could get greater acceptation towards eachother? ;D

  • i am on bed for a long time and got vacation from university bcz i have knee injury.listening lecture here at home is great specially interest i created by prof like her.really great

  • she is so cool! i wonder how she gets it but she is able to steal my attention. i thought anatomy was boring but because of her ways of teaching, it's not that bad after all.. hahaha.. I wish she is going to be my teacher, it would be so fun..

  • Professor Diamond is truly a gem. I love how she still uses the blackboard and verbally repeats her points as she writes them. Power point is great for complex diagrams and pictures, but the blackboard is superior for note taking. It forces the students to participate by physically doing something and it forces the professor to go at a slow enough pace for the students to absorb it. We need more teachers like her.

  • I'm liking anatomy class so much I want to put labels all over myself so I can remember the names forever.

  • UC Berkeley - Thanks so much! I'm a Naturopathy student...these lectures will help a lot.

    Prof Diamond is wonderful!

  • @Junosdaughter

    Naturopathy isn't medicine.

  • wooow this is lady is incredible, she is soo full of knowledge, i really wana be as good as she is hehe, im a medical student almost finished my first year, and to be honest this lecture taught me alot maybe some things which i would have never known, please post more and more videos and holla at me, from now on wards i will watch all her videos untill graduate from my university, i think she can help me be a great doctor, the way she was teaching tells me medical studies aint hard as i thought

  • ima medical student and never thought american teachers could make anatomy more interesting than here in the uk, but i think marian is soo incredibly gifted, i learn more with these than i do at lectures (mayb cause there im asleep) please keep them coming,

  • im sure uk teachers must be quite interesting! but there are great teachers here in america, you probably just dont hear about them!

  • what kind of chalk is that??...works quite well and quiet

  • Thank you for the videos, they have been a great help to me as an adult student taking anatomy for the first time at 35. It is a challenge to memorize so much, and these lectures really help with the unique ways that Marion Diamond has for explaining things.

  • Also, Aceland's DVDs are extremely helpful and would go well with this course. I would recommend them as a companion to these lectures since you will be able to see cadavers and how anatomical structures look like in our bodies.

  • @cntrydncegrl I'm 31 and I'm the same way. I'm enjoying it.

  • I LOVE IT! This is awesome. Huge help to me. Helps me to learn by both hearing the information and to watching her write it. She is awesome. Thank you for putting this on youtube!

  • i agree, this is great...i love the way Marion Diamond teaches...she is a gift to education.

  • Thanks for posting these videos they are a great help!!!

  • I wish she would write less on the board... Some things she could simply say!

Also, a bit more joking would be great, as it is in any type of class. But she is good!

  • Basic/sound approach to teaching. She gets right to the point & does not waste time. Her structure is organized, she is clear, obviously loves her work, she wants the student to learn and does whatever she knows how to do to see that she succeeds at her goal. The Lady is Grand! Thanks.

  • so very true, she is the best lecturer which every student looks forward to, hats off to her and her enthusiasm.

  • I'm in! cbgp.

  • I think this is what Al Gore invented the internet for.

  • As much enthusiasm an old lady can bring to anatomy. I personally think shes great.

  • I Agree, this is Basic Knowledge that Everyone Should Have.

  • wow i like her class ^^
