I hated how she said one micron (which is a micrometer) is 1/1000th of a millimeter. She should use the meter as the basis from which to explain a micron, and that is 10^-6 meters (or one-millionth of a meter).
Have the sound all the way up on my computer as well as the you tube playback and I can barely hear her. Maybe a better mike is in order. If my kids make any noise at all I miss what she says.
I love Miss Marion...but the camera guy...srsly? I know it's for a grade so I hope the rest of the lectures he'll get with the damn program. He's so slow! And for an older woman, Miss Marion is lightning fast. I have to rewind to keep up.
Another mature student here, doing anatomy for the first time at the age of 47 (Animal Management BSc), I am finding these lectures so helpful. I can watch them over & over and never tire of listening to Professor Diamond. I love the way she writes everything down and repeats everything. She also makes me feel that it really is worth learning at my age.
The pelvis bone consist of three parts the sacrum, coccyx, and hip bone which is made of three bones fused together 1.The ilium is the uppermost and largest bone of the pelvis is the largest and upper most part 2.the ischium is the posterior-inferior (back-lower) part 3.the pubis is the anterior (front) part of the hip bone.
the pubic bone is not considered part of the axial skeleton but the sacrum and coccyx are
no, the axial skeleton is only composed of the bones of the skull, hyoid, the ribs, and the vertebral column. the pelvic bone(s) are part of the appendicular skeleton.
@dillow086 I don't know if this is a good explanation, so here it goes... remember like she mentioned, for the appendicular bones; there are girdles. Definition of a girdle is: an encircling or ringlike structure "Pectoral girle" which consists of clavicle and scapula, while "Pelvic girdle" consists of crest of illium/coxal bone/etc, (Google an image/ a colored diagram).
Thank you, you are really a DIAMOND Ms. Marion and I wish you longevity, health, happyness and that you continue to find joy in teaching others and changing lives positively.
I love this professor...you can feel her love of what she does and that she cares about her students..Thank you for posting these classes ..very helpfull

when we get infections and viruses how do we know that it doesn't get all the way to the tempral bone? I mean, shouldn't there be filters in the nasal and ear cavities that protect us from infections entering the head?
The mastoid (bump behind your ear) is full of sinuses (open spaces) and bacteria from an untreated inner ear infection can make their way through to the mastoid. The infection of the mastoid is mastoiditis. Once in the mastoid, bacteria can make their way to the meninges possibily leading to meningitis. Due to antibiotics, mastoiditis is not seen much any more.

she is so cool! i wonder how she gets it but she is able to steal my attention. i thought anatomy was boring but because of her ways of teaching, it's not that bad after all.. hahaha.. I wish she is going to be my teacher, it would be so fun..
Professor Diamond is truly a gem. I love how she still uses the blackboard and verbally repeats her points as she writes them. Power point is great for complex diagrams and pictures, but the blackboard is superior for note taking. It forces the students to participate by physically doing something and it forces the professor to go at a slow enough pace for the students to absorb it. We need more teachers like her.
wooow this is lady is incredible, she is soo full of knowledge, i really wana be as good as she is hehe, im a medical student almost finished my first year, and to be honest this lecture taught me alot maybe some things which i would have never known, please post more and more videos and holla at me, from now on wards i will watch all her videos untill graduate from my university, i think she can help me be a great doctor, the way she was teaching tells me medical studies aint hard as i thought

Thank you for the videos, they have been a great help to me as an adult student taking anatomy for the first time at 35. It is a challenge to memorize so much, and these lectures really help with the unique ways that Marion Diamond has for explaining things.
Also, Aceland's DVDs are extremely helpful and would go well with this course. I would recommend them as a companion to these lectures since you will be able to see cadavers and how anatomical structures look like in our bodies.
I LOVE IT! This is awesome. Huge help to me. Helps me to learn by both hearing the information and to watching her write it. She is awesome. Thank you for putting this on youtube!
Basic/sound approach to teaching. She gets right to the point & does not waste time. Her structure is organized, she is clear, obviously loves her work, she wants the student to learn and does whatever she knows how to do to see that she succeeds at her goal. The Lady is Grand! Thanks.

can anybody please answer?.. Wouldn't the pelvic bone be considered as part of the Axial skeleton? it also lies directly midline.
