in a proper comparison, everyone is trying to compare the iPhone and X1 together, the truth is, the iPhone sucks. just because the web browsing is good, doesnt make the whole phone good. the camera is rubbish, you havent even got a file manager, and everything is the same as the iPod Touch. the iPhone feels bulky and cheap. the 3G iPhone back is plastic and cheap asian feel. and yet people still buy them for over $1000 AUD on ebay when you can buy them unlocked from the shop for only $750 AUD.

why does any new phone that comes out have to be compared to the iPhone. Just because the iPhone was the first phone to come out with some stuff, it doesnt mean that SE is sitting in the office going "we must kill the iPhone". I am pretty sure they know they cant beat the iPhone. Besides, HTC had gestures on their Touch series before the iPhone came out. Dont get me wrong though. I love the iPhone. I just hate it when ALL phones r compared to it...

I agree and disagree with u. Think about it. Comparison is good. I believe that the MacBook Pro is a benchmark too. But, no new laptop that comes out with a LED backlit display or slot loading dvd drive can be termed 'MacBook' Pro copies. When an industry standard is set & there is a new trend, all companies will follow to cash in. There were full touch screen phones before the iPhone like the HTC Touch. I don't see people going 'the iPhone is based on the Touch'. I think its about the fanboys.

I think what most people are comparing is not the touch screen, it's the UI. Sure, the iPhone was early in the market with a touch screen, but it was not the first. What it was the first to do, though, was have an extremely usable interface which is responsive, smooth and well thought out. Now if you look at the Xperia's UI in this video, it's sluggish and looks a bit annoying to use. That's what everyone is comparing, and that's why the iPhone is still the number 1. :)

the iPhone has a basic user interface, I think thats why its still popular in a mainstream market, though saying the iPhone is the best phone by far is a load of rubbish. im not saying your saying that, but others are, The iPhone has basic features thus making it easier for people who want something basic and simple, the iPhone wins. if you want a seriously powerful touchscreen device, then the Xperia X1 wins.

the reason for that is that sony ericsson only work on it for 14 - 16 months to produce a handset and thats why things look like their lagging. Apple however would have spent 24 - 32 months on the iPhone Gen 1. software bugs can be eliminated over the long working period. if Apple and SE had to release their phones in 12 months time, Sony Ericsson would win.

if you had payed attention, you would have realised that the phone had 6 panels (things running in the background), thats why it was lagging.

the firmware on the i phone is no where near as advanced as that of the xperia meaning its virtually lag free. but thats what is so great about it, the simplicity.

the cpu on the xperia is 528mhz

the i phone is 412mhz

so thechnicaly speaking the sony is faster.
