@Adjudicator Shaolin Kempo and Kata's are good if you want to become a dancer. No practical use in real life fighting. If you want to be able to protect yourself and defeat an attack, you should be learning grappling, jiu jitsu, and boxing. Otherwise, you'd be better off taking ballet lessons.
Brings me back. I got out of this years ago but it was really fun especially since I was never into general sports. My school was the best sparring/grappling in my state in tournaments and I almost placed in the top 3 a couple times... ahhh... almost... I kind of want to go back but I figure I'd be better to pick a different style because I'd just be relearning 4 years of this... :(
I actually do Kempo, its been 8 years. Im brown belt. Though, Shaolin Kempo that's onyl the first kata. Just the 9th, is pretty depressing for how many moves there is. People think it's all about the fighting techiniques, but Kempo. Is mostly memory for knowning WHAT to do when your in combat. Not to "Kick his ass"... :)
No it is Kenpo. Tae Kwon Do patterns have a totally different stylized format. Their patterns involve more kicks, and have very basic upper body impact/striking techniques. The patterns almost always repeat the movements on both sides. The also use the sine wave motion to generate power. This can be described as "bouncing." From a Kempo instructor(myself) This kid did a pretty good job! Keep up the hard work
I agree, this is Kata 1 and 2 from SKK, he does it slightly different. I am a Black Belt in SKK, and now there are many different nuances in the Katas (Villari, USSD, Leo Michaud, Thomas Ingargiola's SKK) All of them stem from Nick Cerio and Villari
