Kaydara Motion builder, is a product that enabled you to retarget the motion from one character to another, regardles of size/scale, even if it had different a different number of body joint, from what i can remember, it was a long time ago i did this, another product was called human IK, which also helps, but these days I am sure 3dsmax 8, has many more tools in it for better character animation,
the last time i used it, you could splice different motions from different parts of motion capture files...
I would love to do some more but it is real tricky designing characters and skinning the biped... but if you have the program, you can find on the web some starwars characters all fully skinned up, ready for action..
I'm familiar w/ Biped and the Physique modifier. I'm working on some characters with it right now. I think I've got all the envelopes tweeked properly, but I haven't put him through his full range of poses to look for any out of place verticies. I'm just learning character animation (Self taught from books). It's tricky, I want to learn how to mix between mocap & keyframing seamlessly. It's a task, but it's fun. Good work!
