Probably, but MJ took that move from inner city kids more than Elvis specifically, which he acknowledged. Certainly Elvis must have influenced him, as he did virtually every performer that came after him. That being said, Elvis too had his influences: the Gospel music he grew up with, Hank Snow, and African American rock & roll pioneers like Rufus Thomas, B.B. King and Fats Domino (who Elvis himself ackowleded as the real King of Rock and Roll). No one is 100% original.

He had a long succesful career, but in my opinion, the early years were THE BEST.

He inspired millions and kicked the gates open for so many that rushed in behind and were able to get exposure. His movies were rather crappy except for KING CREOLE which showed he could have been a great actor had he been given decent plots and roles.

I'm Writing this on the 30'th anniversary of Elvis's death, and as I write local TV stations are "honoring" Elvis by playing his godawful films from the 60's. Young people watching this crap must justifiably be wondering what all the fuss was about, and rightfully so. If only they could watch him perform "Mean Woman Blues" from "Loving You", (which is very seldom shown), then they could catch a glimpse of the charisma that changed music forever. Rest easy Elvis.
