Why is Boris Johnson so likeable? He's a fumbling buffoon but it's so appealing. Him trying to dig his way out of even minor digs from Paul and Ian are hilarious and you really feel for that guy.
If he could get a good handle on reading the Teleprompter, then I think he'd be a fabulous permanent host.
@mikeyman211 The thing is, you can tell that he knows that he comes across as a bumbler, but he has a sense of humor about it and plays to that. Contrast that with the cretins we Americans have for politicians, who genuinely believe that they're clever.
people love Boris because hes "Honest" something we dont get allot of from MP's we also love him cos hes funny and silly and acts it brits love that we dont want a stuck up twat who lives in a mansion and talks down to ppl boris doesnt talk down he acts down to earth Boris for PM
I think Boris is probably much more intelligent than he appears. Ever hear of Lord Peter Wimsey? Pretend to be a bumbling git and let people under-estimate you.
He's quick, witty, intelligent, yet people give him a bad time because his sentences can't start formaly.
Not to mention he's naturaly funny, and people don't like that. He's a MP ahead of his time, people want someone that can CONVINCE them, Whereas boris makes people laugh. He has my vote.
ah, but the difference between boris and most other politicians is that most politicians appear smart and capable on the surface but are complete and utter chaotic idiots, whereas boris appears to be a chaotic idiot, but is smart as hell. so i'd trust the capabilities hidden under his amiable chaos rather than well-groomed suits who are nothing but masters of pretence.
Thats because they're as insane as that loony who's now mayor of london. He's an idiot who got voted in based upon his TV appearances rather than his politics.
Yes, people so enamored with celebrity that they no doubt don't even know his dreadful views. Reading the comments people have written on here about him being brilliant is very depressing.
You mean you'd trust someone with the linguistic fortitude to fool you over someone who couldn't bullshit you for all the spin doctors in the European political system?

I don't allow words to fool me, I let actions convince me as to a person's worth one way or another. This guy is a bumbling idiot in both cases and should be running a bloody guest house on the coast or anything but being the mayor of london. At any rate, a man who lacks the skill to form a sentence usually lacks the skill to do anything practical, look at John Prescott for example, another prize prat.
You are, then, unaware of the fact that Boris has been educated at some of the most prestigious academic institutions in Europe and, in his early career, was Minister for the Arts?
He was there when they happened to be teaching it because his parents were rich enough to have him sent there, probably to keep such an idiot out of their hair. He's not educated in anything because of a natural intelligence but because he was born into rich family. In the end he's still a tosser and won't do any good for london, he'll just move from one monumental gaff to another, he's the prince philip of politics. He too is well educated but still an idiot.
Shadow minisiter yes, not the actual minister, tories and education for the masses don't mix, they don't want us educated, They'd rather that be reserved for fellow chinless oxford toss pots who are born into money. Had Boris been born a common man he'd be doing sweet fuck all and still not making any sense. As I recall wasn't the banning of alcohol an old idea, not actually his? He's just another tory band wagon jumper and all round useless politician not to mention a philanderer.
just because hes bumbling doesnt make him a bad mayor. and most stuff that i've seen him doing political stuff, he didnt bumble. he bumbles here because he's nervous because he's never hosted a show and because this is not what he does as his work!
He's an MP he doesn't do work! He spends his time either forging expenses claims, shagging his assistants, appearing on tv and making a fortune from dodgey business dealings such as arms sales or insider trading, like MPs do. There needs to be a serious cull, especially of so called pro MPs like Miliband.
Most ingenious way to cause difficulties in the labour party (paraphrased) - yes a classic line, another cassic line would be "[its] by far the best way to annoy Gordon Brown"!!

@ELuhn That's true. I've seen him in other things like Room 101 and Top Gear and he's charmingly humble about his character.

Very odd to watch this now. Look how little Boris has grown. And the Tories have no hope of getting into power, huh? Oh dear, oh dear...

Well, he did graduate from Oxford and write for several newspapers before becoming editor of the Spectator.
He's also been the Shadow Minister for Higher Education.
He's a keen and popular historian
As mayor, he has banned alcohol on public transport.
But none of that matters because some of his sentences start with 'Bhrbhrbrhbhr'
