@MKMoharana29 It's amazing how it only takes one legally blind person and an imagination to come up with a brilliant idea as this. I too am legally blind and college has been a nightmare for me. This video hit home in more ways than anyone can imagine. I would love this piece of equipment. What a miracle this would be for me. @yccc.edu
Can't some lens be created (working like the so called gravitational lenses in space that can curve light arround a planet) to allow them to see what is in front of them using the peripheral vision instead? Even if there's no such lens, the remapping could be done using camera and software (they could see through VR goggles)
being legally blid honestly it gets better i have had it ever since birth and my vision has gotten better not much but im currently at 195/20and for me living with this problem longer you learn how to live your everyday life and enjoy it i have to give the credit to god that my vision is getting better but for you guys that lose your vision from having it at one time you go through the child hood stage of you eyes because the more you live with it the better you begin living God Bless you all
@michellesaywhaa Is this a tool you would like to see in the classroom? When I was a student I had a lot of trouble seeing the board as well, especially when sitting in the back of the room. thanks for posting i thought the same growing up thinking we all seen the same way it wanst untill i was a teen hanging out with friends that isen diffrently from other pepole then i was told by mant test taken when i was 13 that im slow going blind but at the time i didnt think to much of it and just kelpt moving forward with things i wanted to do it wanst untill i was 25 when i could no nolonger work makeing $2,000+ a week as a truck driver it was a big dummer for me to give up
@grizzleybearz282004 Wow, that is an incredible story. What are you doing now? We never know how difficult things can be until something gets taken away. Are there other devices you think could help in your daily life? I met an Imagine Cup team who was creating a phone app that could read stop lights and oncoming cars to make walking more safe for those with low vision. Thanks for your feedback about this video! Very impressive, but I suspect the claim that there are 20 million low vision adults in the United States is erroneous. That would be something like 10%. I'd believe 2 million.
@gsacks53 it could very well be more than 20 million. The term "low vision" encompasses so many eye pathologies and not just blindness as some would assume.
