this are the kind of movies that have the right to be part of the OSCARS in the best foreign film category along with Asiong: the kingpin untold story...i don't understand why this kind of stories are the garbage of the Philippine cinema...i think this kind of movies must have a higher respect. it's one of the best film being produce in the MMFF along with Asiong.

Maravigliossa! Grande! Grande! We needed MORE movies like these in the Philippines. Mga period films... nkakasawa ang mga "pop", "commercialized" love films... mga sam milby, piolo etc... cheesy films. haha Kudos to the director.

do not be fooled by aesthetics and a melodramatic trailer. I saw and it's the best example of what is wrong with Filipino cinema tendencies: newbie director bereft of technical skill, bad editing, over-acting, mediocre cut scenes, plot line while real wasn't projected correctly to magnify characters. All in all a bad movie, ambitious is attempt but it's all there is. Period films are not about production design alone, it is about characters. Director messed up and wasted his chance.

the last scene is brilliant! no dialogue, no script, jennylyn's eyes is enough to show her emotion and her story. the last scene alone is enough for her to be nominated in the said category, last Sunday i've watch paparazzi on tv5 sinabe nung isa sa mga guest na manghuhula na na-Visualize daw nya na mananalo ng INTERNATIONAL AWARD c jen this year, she also said na nahulaan din daw nya na si ai-ai ang mananalo sa best actress and it happened. . i really hope na magkatotoo ung hula nya. ^^,

i just learned "Noy" na pala ang official Philippine entry to the Oscars. not as happy as when FAP chose "Ploning" and "Ded Na Si Lolo" over other mainstream projects in 08 and 09. Still, good luck on RP's bid. :)
saw my most anticipated mmff 2010 movie finally! okay lang. loose ang narrative. i was also half-expecting a gulat factor similar to that in "malena" (g. tornatore) and "the piano" (j. campion), but i didn't see any other than ara mina's make-up and sid lucero's mortal combat stunt LOL.all-in-all, they could have paid more attention to detail especially for an ambitious period film. I hope the producers and creative team would constructively take these comments and continue to make quality films
MMFF is nothing but a dissapointment.. sana palitan na lang yung festival.. its nothing but a fetival for money making and not about quality film.. mas maganda pa yung cinemalaya kasi doon naipapakit ang tunay na husay, ang tunay na galing sa larangan ng pagarte at paggawa ng pelikula.. nakakalungkot ring isipin na ang mga pelikulang tulad nito, ang mga pilikulang maituturing na gawa ng sining ay di masyadong na propromote kaya kunti lang ang nakakapanood.. job well done Rosario.. ang galing

Let's admit it, I don't think they even know what cinematography is, and I think they don't have much time to identify quality movies so they'll go for the commercial ones. Jennylyn for Best Actress. her acting in this movie is different from her previous roles. it is on a different level. mas mahusay. hindi paulit ulit unlike other actresses na paulit ulit lang yung kind of acting sa bawat pmovie nila. this is a different and very high level of acting for Jennylyn Mercado & her co-stars. Even Albert Martinez deserves to be at least nominated for Best Director

I've seen filipino movies, but this, ROSARIO, is so far the BEST Filipino movie I have ever seen. Cinematography, Plotting, Story time lining, Video Editing (example: the Hong Kong Ship scene), I can't say enough, you better see the movie for yourself. I am no fan of any of the actors in the movie, nor am I a fan of Filipino Show Business, but ROSARIO, puts Filipino Movie making a notch above for international showing. Well Done TV 5!

Super ganda ng Movie. sana lang mas magaling si JEN pero sobra nakakaiyak yung ending lalo na yung part ni DOLPHY. nabitin lang ako sana pinakita pano sya namatay or kung ano na nangyari hehe :)) more more panonoorin ko sya ulet, sarap kasi mag travel back in time :)

i really wonder why it didn't won best picture, and the director and the actress was not even nominated. considering that it won 2nd best picture, they should have been nominated for the major awards.sure Ms Ai-Ai deserves it,but i wonder why Ms. Jen wasn't even nominated.AND for a film with the main character having a few lines in a movie but can still move the audience, is a very rare talent. i thought MMFF had changed but i was wrong.it still remained to be the MMFF that we've known.
sorry sa mga haters, pero ROSARIO is a movie that can be lined with LEGENDS of the FALL. Magalit at magcomment na kayo mga haters, I am not a fan of the main actress or even Trillo. The movie as a whole is what I see and recommend.
@itmakesmereal94 Couldn't agree more. I'm kind of skeptical with the choice of Ms. Mercado and Mr. Trillo as part of the main characters. But the story itself and the craftsmanship are just superb. I felt that the acting is kulang.
@makiloverainbow hi :) it was intended to be an underplayed acting :) they wanted to stray from loud acting. if you have time, you can read Katrina Santiago's review about the whole thing. it's entitled "Riveting 'Rosario': Melodrama with restraint" she has a very good analysis about this :)
@itsmejustbecause By kulang kasi, I mean the sincerity of the actress (Jen) when delivering her lines, when she's acting. :) The melodramatic, not "overrated acting" feel is what I like, it's just the "sincerity" that lacks :)
This is just sad. I think the reason why Rosario didn't win as Best Picture was because the jurors probably thought that there were no family values here (30% on the criteria). Which was totally stupid! The value of atonement for what Rosario did was well encapsulated in the whole movie. They probably thought that she didn't receive the forgiveness she wants. Yes, somehow. But that's not the point! Forgiven or not, her whole life and her decision to Carding reflects her love and reparation.

the cinematography and color correction look absolutely gorgeous...but they shouldve added a liitle bit extra on their titles..the Rosario logo at the end looks like it was just made by downloading a random font off the internet and putting photoshop layer effects on it...anyways the content of the movie is what matters :)

The part of Rosario is a role of a lifetime. It is a difficult one that called for a long preparation and a series of workshops. That required her to look coquettish and flirtatious. The judges didn’t see that on screen. For heaven’s sake, she doesn’t even know how to hold a cigarette — when the character is supposed to be ahead of her time and one who smokes and smokes like it’s second nature to her character.
paano naman ba ang MMFF ay binubuo ng ilang tao na malapit sa ABS-CBN kaya ang Tanging Ina ang nanalo pero ok na rin nanalo ang Tang Ina este TANGING INA kasi naman ang hanap ng mga tao ay mapasaya sila kesa sa lumuha sila pangawala yung sa storya ng Rosario mukhang may kulang at very usual ang dating pero at least kahit paano bumawi sila sa casting at higit sa lahat sa costumes at settings, mas naramdaman ko rin ang pagka-pinoy ko!
To be honest, I don't think Jennylyn really had the shot to win the award for Best Actress, though. There's still something missing; Something's kulang. Though she reall deserves to be nominated.

The Best Filipino Movie i have ever seen! i love the cast and Albert Martinez did a very good job,the settings and the story match with all the casts especially Jennilyn Mercado she has the classic beauty and she played the part well, how come she didn't get the Best Actress trophy?and I heard not even nominated.

I've seen this movie cenxia na po but i find it BORING. Wlang special sa story at sa acting, dinaan lang sa production design. Inantok ako waiting for the highlights pero sa last minute na ng movie ko na kita un kung saan umiiyak si Dolphy. Now I understand kung baket hindi humakot ng awards ang movie na to. Cenxia na po opinion lang ng isang manonood.

do not be fooled by aesthetics and a melodramatic trailer. I saw and it's the best example of what is wrong with Filipino cinema tendencies: newbie director bereft of technical skill, bad editing, over-acting, mediocre cut scenes, plot line while real wasn't projected correctly to magnify characters. All in all a bad movie, ambitious is attempt but it's all there is. Period films are not about production design alone, it is about characters. Director messed up and wasted his chance.

Pleassee lang panuodin mu muna yung movie bago ka magsabi ng cheap ikaw kasi lumalabas na cheap sa salita mo palang.. nagmamagaling ka pa jan...at isa pa bago ka magsabi ng "grow up" sa ibang tao better understand and apply what those words mean para hindi mo kinakain yung mga sinasabi mo!

the last scene is brilliant! no dialogue, no script, jennylyn's eyes is enough to show her emotion and her story. the last scene alone is enough for her to be nominated in the said category, last Sunday i've watch paparazzi on tv5 sinabe nung isa sa mga guest na manghuhula na na-Visualize daw nya na mananalo ng INTERNATIONAL AWARD c jen this year, she also said na nahulaan din daw nya na si ai-ai ang mananalo sa best actress and it happened. . i really hope na magkatotoo ung hula nya. ^^,

ok yung cinematography.. editing etc.. i just feel like there's someone else who's more capable of portraying Rosario other than Jenelyn. kahit yung di sana sikat.. mraming magagaling na indi talents. i havent watched this movie though. pero sna nga nagimprove na si Jenelyn. a few of her acting sa gma series, kasi dull. parang "galit ako.." "takot ako" "masaya ako" -- with a poker face.

i just learned "Noy" na pala ang official Philippine entry to the Oscars. not as happy as when FAP chose "Ploning" and "Ded Na Si Lolo" over other mainstream projects in 08 and 09. Still, good luck on RP's bid. :)

saw my most anticipated mmff 2010 movie finally! okay lang. loose ang narrative. i was also half-expecting a gulat factor similar to that in "malena" (g. tornatore) and "the piano" (j. campion), but i didn't see any other than ara mina's make-up and sid lucero's mortal combat stunt LOL.all-in-all, they could have paid more attention to detail especially for an ambitious period film. I hope the producers and creative team would constructively take these comments and continue to make quality films

Jennylyn for Best Actress. her acting in this movie is different from her previous roles. it is on a different level. mas mahusay. hindi paulit ulit unlike other actresses na paulit ulit lang yung kind of acting sa bawat pmovie nila. this is a different and very high level of acting for Jennylyn Mercado & her co-stars. Even Albert Martinez deserves to be at least nominated for Best Director

I've seen filipino movies, but this, ROSARIO, is so far the BEST Filipino movie I have ever seen. Cinematography, Plotting, Story time lining, Video Editing (example: the Hong Kong Ship scene), I can't say enough, you better see the movie for yourself. I am no fan of any of the actors in the movie, nor am I a fan of Filipino Show Business, but ROSARIO, puts Filipino Movie making a notch above for international showing. Well Done TV 5!

siguro mas better lang kung pinakita talaga kung pano sila namuhay mula nang iwan sila ni alberto. as in pano sila kumakain it will make the movie more dramatic to see how terrible their life has become :)

i really wonder why it didn't won best picture, and the director and the actress was not even nominated. considering that it won 2nd best picture, they should have been nominated for the major awards.sure Ms Ai-Ai deserves it,but i wonder why Ms. Jen wasn't even nominated.AND for a film with the main character having a few lines in a movie but can still move the audience, is a very rare talent. i thought MMFF had changed but i was wrong.it still remained to be the MMFF that we've known.

sorry sa mga haters, pero ROSARIO is a movie that can be lined with LEGENDS of the FALL. Magalit at magcomment na kayo mga haters, I am not a fan of the main actress or even Trillo. The movie as a whole is what I see and recommend.

@itmakesmereal94 Couldn't agree more. I'm kind of skeptical with the choice of Ms. Mercado and Mr. Trillo as part of the main characters. But the story itself and the craftsmanship are just superb. I felt that the acting is kulang.

@makiloverainbow hi :) it was intended to be an underplayed acting :) they wanted to stray from loud acting. if you have time, you can read Katrina Santiago's review about the whole thing. it's entitled "Riveting 'Rosario': Melodrama with restraint" she has a very good analysis about this :)

@itsmejustbecause By kulang kasi, I mean the sincerity of the actress (Jen) when delivering her lines, when she's acting. :) The melodramatic, not "overrated acting" feel is what I like, it's just the "sincerity" that lacks :)

This is just sad. I think the reason why Rosario didn't win as Best Picture was because the jurors probably thought that there were no family values here (30% on the criteria). Which was totally stupid! The value of atonement for what Rosario did was well encapsulated in the whole movie. They probably thought that she didn't receive the forgiveness she wants. Yes, somehow. But that's not the point! Forgiven or not, her whole life and her decision to Carding reflects her love and reparation.

Walang kwenta ang mga Jurors! Palibhasa puro comedy at fantasy nalang ang nasa utak nila! Pwede na tong pang-international na movie! At least my future ang ganitong klase. Anong mapapala natin sa fantasy at comedy??!!! Putang ina! Walang kwenta! Palafi nalang ganito ang MMFF. Paulit-ulit ang mga pelikula! Boring na! BORING! MMFF = Worst Film Festival in the world.

I wtched both tanging ina & rosario & pareho clang mganda, pro 4 me ms mganda prin tlga tanging ina. kc ang tanging ina naka2tawa na naka2iyak pa nd ung story tlgang may sense, realistic and maka2relate ka. kya 4 me agree ako s bxt picture nd runner up. pgdating sa acting, mgaling c ai no doubt pti rn c jen kya sna manlang kxma s mga nanominate c jen.

the cinematography and color correction look absolutely gorgeous...but they shouldve added a liitle bit extra on their titles..the Rosario logo at the end looks like it was just made by downloading a random font off the internet and putting photoshop layer effects on it...anyways the content of the movie is what matters :)

butch Francisco should've kept his mouth shut if he had nothing good to say....i truly think that the movie deserves to be this year's best picture...and it's so unbelievable that Albert and Jen werent even given the honor to be nominated...what kind of jury does MMFF have? how could we establish ourselves in the international scene if we keep pulling each one down...

Well Guys.... I know it suck that the bobo masses don't appreciate intelligent, artistic, well crafted movies... at least there is hope for Philippines that there are pinoys who can produce this kind of gem.... keep it going!!!! BTW.... next time gusto ko teen romantic comedy set in 1890's Spanish period naman.... that would be cool!!!!!

the story of Rosario is a one of a kind story that portrays woman's desire and hardships....not to mention that Rosario is very radical in our time. hope that this movie will be discovered abroad.this should won the BEST PICTURE, ACTRESS, ACTOR, STORY, SCREENPLAY, DIRECTOR and most especially ORIGINAL MUSICAL SCORE!!! The music used in the movie and even in this trailer is damn so WONDERFUL!and they used classical music!!!!!THIS SHOULD BE A GRAND SLAM!!! :(

Ang ganda ganda ng Rosario !!! puedeng ipanglaban sa foreign film.. Bakit di ito nanalo? Ang ganda ng mga costumes, settings, sounds, tha acting ng main characters are excellent, lalo na c Jennelyn.. para siyang batang Nora Aunor in her deep eye expression. I don't think the Tanging Ina deserves to win...

The part of Rosario is a role of a lifetime. It is a difficult one that called for a long preparation and a series of workshops. That required her to look coquettish and flirtatious. The judges didn’t see that on screen. For heaven’s sake, she doesn’t even know how to hold a cigarette — when the character is supposed to be ahead of her time and one who smokes and smokes like it’s second nature to her character.

paano naman ba ang MMFF ay binubuo ng ilang tao na malapit sa ABS-CBN kaya ang Tanging Ina ang nanalo pero ok na rin nanalo ang Tang Ina este TANGING INA kasi naman ang hanap ng mga tao ay mapasaya sila kesa sa lumuha sila pangawala yung sa storya ng Rosario mukhang may kulang at very usual ang dating pero at least kahit paano bumawi sila sa casting at higit sa lahat sa costumes at settings, mas naramdaman ko rin ang pagka-pinoy ko!

To be honest, I don't think Jennylyn really had the shot to win the award for Best Actress, though. There's still something missing; Something's kulang. Though she reall deserves to be nominated.

i love the part 1:30 on the movie. I felt the shrill of the emotion when Rosario had her teary eyes locked on mine. :(
this movie should have been #1, 2nd should be rpg metanoia :)
