I am a Yankees fan, and even I don't think NYY should get Mauer. Hell, I don't think any team save for the Twins should get Mauer. He is so iconic to the Twins franchise after all, it would be the equivalent of taking someone like Derek Jeter away from the Yankees. I'm really glad the Twins signed him for eight years :) I respect him immensely as a player and as a person, no matter what team he plays for.

Mauer is not overrated. Dude manages to be the best hitter in baseball while playing the toughest position and (well, at least until next year) working in the crappiest sports venue known to man. On top of it all, he's HUMBLE. How often can you find an athlete so talented and offensively handsome who refuses to whore himself out to the media?
