A long time ago in the 80s my family had a friend named Nelchia. Her sister went to police academy, graduated and went to work for NYPD. The first day out on patrol she was shot by a drug dealer and she died. It was a complete shock to Nelchia - especially considering that this happened on the FIRST day out.

If I were a cop, I would be wearing body armor at all times, regardless of if I was a patrolman or detective. @konman001 - Well I don't know the whole story, maybe the cops were "dirty" cops... Then again these were WA police officers, not Serpico or LAPD. Still, my understanding of it was that the guy killed these cops just because he hated cops. I don't know what really could have been done I guess to prevent this. How did this guy get out of jail anyway? If he served his previous sentence and was out fair and square, then so be it. Still, I don't know what can rly be done to prevent this stuff.

I seriously doubt that all four cops were "dirty" - only in Hollywood movies.
A long time ago in the 80s my family had a friend named Nelchia. Her sister went to police academy, graduated and went to work for NYPD. The first day out on patrol she was shot by a drug dealer and she died. It was a complete shock to Nelchia - especially considering that this happened on the FIRST day out.
Condolences to the families of these police officers. May God give them a measure of peace.

I previously stated that the assailant got what he deserved. I'm sure that if he had been taken alive, he would have gotten life in prison without parole. Had he done it in a state like Texas or California, he would have undoubtedly faced the death penalty. But he got what was coming to him anyway.

The SAD thing is that it is OBVIOUS that the guy had to use a gun that was purchased ILLEGALLY on black market perhaps. The guy was released from prison with a criminal record and there is NO WAY that he would be able to purchase the gun legally if a gun store checked his background. Any gun law that liberals would propose would DO NOTHING to limit illegal gun market - in fact it would probably grow.
