  • Komodos are freaking awesome!

  • i'd love a pet like that, could take it for a walk in the park and feed it dogs and small children

  • i want one. :l

  • So cute how kind the dragon was, also I appreciate the LOTR themed name on the fallow.

  • Nice Animal. She is very close to him.

  • ...After the interview she got eaten...

  • @ 2:46 he's like "alright Bitch im leavin. Interview over".

  • @usmananjum17 they are intelegent enough to recognize people, mabey they are smart enough not to attack the thing giving them food. i read somewhere that they can count aswell....i dont know how u could test for that but yeah...

  • All it needs are wings

  • I WANT ONE!

  • You can tell its excited when it rips your balls

  • not the largest lizard.... a croc monitor is bigger

  • Comment removed

  • imagine some kid pass by to look at the tank and say, ITS THE MOMMY!

  • he looks bored

  • As soon as the guy spoke, Smaug thought "Food"

  • @l0lsfunny thats a guy?

  • if you are an existing Komodo island INDONESIA, do not forget you buy clothes dragons. : D ahhahaha

  • one of indonesias awesome animals

  • omg these beasts are so scary.... This is one of the very few species to eat humans.... and she's sitting next to it???

  • @Astragoth2 Komodo dragons in captivity can be very affectionate actucally. They even like to get petted. Hell they even play.

  • Amazing how she just talks nonchalantly by the lizard that has a bite that would kill her lol.

  • Reptiles are just so awesome. ^_^

  • Beautiful monitor but Komodo is not the largest, varanus salvadorii is

  • @Dan37064 2nd largest lol

  • @Dan37064

the ora or komodo dragon is the largest monitor with respect to body mass and weight as well as length. Even if a salvadorii were to grow as long as a komodo, it would not compare as far as the bulk of its body is concerned. As far as I know, the komodo is also the longest, with some individuals reaching to almost 10 ft in length.

  • @Dan37064 Wrong, salvadorii is the longest. By sheer mass alone, the Komodo is the largest.

  • He doesen''t like to move much xD

  • :D

  • It's not venom. It's bacteria in the saliva. That causes blood poisoning

  • @gmoco86 The bacteria is the same as found in the mouth of most lions, and even some 5-year-olds.

  • @gmoco86

It has recently been discovered that the Komodo as well as many other lizards do have venom glands. In most lizards they are vestigial and not used in prey capture, but in some such as the Komodo and the Helodermatids, the glands are able to produce a potent venom.

  • I would never get in a cage with one of them

  • If I would suddenly see one in the wild my first reaction would be "Aaah, a crocodile!" then realize "wait wtf that's no croc" and look at it while being confused.

  • They have both, a semi potent venom that wont kill but paralyzes/prevents the blood from clotting. They DO have a large sum of virulent bacteria and their victims will succumb to massive infection before they die to the venom they have. They're very specialized predators and living proof on the effectiveness of selective evolution.

  • wow if that turned around and bit her, modern medicine does NOT have the anti venom to keep her from dying. it hasn't been invented. its some of the strongest venom in the world.

  • look like a statue

  • Its Geico's fat grandpa.....LoL

  • @Jaychiz104

    Hahaha!

  • BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL. what does it take to get one of these young and to raise them?

  • how does she not get eatin?

  • @usmananjum17 Because he was raised in captivity. So he's used to seeing people, she proberly also raised him herself and therefore he/she knows her and trusts her because he/she has known her it's whole life.

  • @usmananjum17 Exactly! And to add, the beast weighs more than what she said. It looks 3 times as heavy as she does. A woman can go almost anywhere! If the dude went in alone he'd be toast, I'd bet on ot!

  • where's his dwarven treasure hord?

  • aren't they also the most dangerous lizard in the world?

  • That's a pretty chill dragon.

  • It would be fun to watch Smaug turn to attack that woman.

  • I expected it to whip her or something ;(

  • BOOM! The komodo dragon eats her =0

  • dj-ness. webs .com is a new reptile website like facebook

  • smaug?

    wheres his treasure hoard

  • @aldoreshgaramok His treasure hoard's the wench, yarr!

  • @StringerDCUO You fail at life. Go read "The Hobbit."

  • @aldoreshgaramok I can't he's dead...

  • haha like all sarcastic looking, "Oh yes they have great personalities!"... *turns head.. See what I have to deal with (-____-)* Hes probably thinking "bitch all I wanna do is sleep, eat free food, get fatter, and lay down all day. Now gtfo im gonna go eat now"

Lol, Im pretty amazed though. How the hell do these big fat cute things even catch their food in the wild? o_O they look so lazy slow n chill. hmm.

  • How do give them vitamines, like vit. C? In the meat in a tablet form?

  • i thought he would spit on her ,in the least.

  • Lol that man ran behind that small ass bord

  • :( Houston is far away from my house

  • LMAO, 8 feet and 155 pounds. that lizard looks like he came straight from Auschwitz. no wonder that woman is not afraid of him!

  • I watched about 4 minutes of this, hoping she would pet Smaug. I feel ripped off or something, so weak.

  • Hes all like "shut the hell up an gimme a deer"

  • I like the Hobbit reference.

  • they eat boar!?

  • It would eat her if it wanted to.

  • Is it suppose to be named after smaug the dragon in the hobbit?

  • @potty268 She sais who she reference's it to. Pay more attention. - .-

  • @stinkysnak7 I never watched the whole thing T_T

  • @potty268 yer the book by tolkin

  • @potty268 It's best to listen to the whole video before posting.

  • @irishfinger You must be a smart one, replying to a 8 month old comment.

  • @potty268 watch the video hahaha

  • they are really dangerous

  • does it bite

  • @jackassqwe1 They do bite, and the amount of bacteria in it's mouth makes one bite enough to kill a person

  • @beavis527 No, they have venom, NOT bacteria, as was thought in the past.

  • @ornatusvaranid ur a dumbass they dont have venom

  • @bubbusid Why the name calling??? Check out the following website, then come back and give the correct info before you post!! venomdoc.com

    They have venom glands!!!

  • @bubbusid as surprised as i was i checked on this and turns out that they have been found to use venom, it lowers blood pressure and causes shock in victims. this is unusual since previously there were only 2 known species of venomous lizards, the beaded lizard and the gila monster. perhaps the real question is does this venom affect humans enough for us to consider it dangerous?

  • @thuzan117 i stand corrected :)

  • I have two 1 year old Komodo Dragons and didn't know they get this large. Wow!

  • He's so chill :O

  • Smaug is so fat. Really different with others komodo in Indonesia

  • averaggy- yes the Komodo Dragon bites its pray and the bacteria ridden saliva kills its meal. Komodo Dragons can also eat one another- but i dont think the saliva is deadly to another Komodo. Then again... its been a few months since ive researched it.

  • what is ur whole point in keeping him in a zoo? a zoo doesint do anything but put them on display and make people want to have them as pets

  • these animals are ultra rare which is my favorite animal

  • THAT LIZARD LOOKS AWESOME. I WANT THAT FOR A PET...DAMN.

  • LOL once the guy aske a question he gets up and is like yah your making me wonder

  • Smaug's all like, "I vill eat CHOOOOO!"

  • in their natural habit, they are really fast, really strong, powerfull, have many way to kill a human, eat just about anything and they are intelligent and tactic... they have hunting strategies and all... these are funny...

  • One of my favorite animals

  • Smaug. The Hobbit. Me likee.

  • I want to wrestle with it LOL.

  • 3:16 "yo man, how 'bout that close up? Catch my good side"

  • i would love to have one as chill as him as a pet

  • When wandering around, why do they keep sticking out their tongues?

  • @agwoodliffe Komodo dragons have an organ that allows them to pretty much taste/smell the air. like snakes.

  • he weighs as much as me, almost

  • @twasbrillig33 If you took away a tail on a 8 foot long dragon, he'd only be about 3.5-4 feet in body length. That's a heavy-set lizard.

  • m8 i would smaug my pants if i were alone in there with that thing

  • the biggest lizard allowed as pets would probably be either a Lace,Nile,Black-Throated or Water Monitor Lizards

  • your pretty much done for if your bitten, right?

  • @MasterMint2 yup. their saliva is poisonous, and they have four rows of sharp retractable teeth

  • Komodo Dragons are awesome. I am going to visit this mofo now that I live in Houston.

  • It will eat you. Run fricken away.

  • hey i have a corn snake thats names smaug

  • I would love to get one as my pet, feed him my boss & pet him.

  • What is the second biggest monitor lizard to the komodo? Just asking. I assume that the komodo is not suitable or legal to keep for a pet, but what is the biggest lizard allowed for a pet then?

  • @pblomgren

I don't know, but there's a Monitor Lizard living in Australia that is about 3 feet long.

  • @pblomgren croc monitors are longer they get about 10ft + but not as wider an crocs are legal in most states

  • Comment removed

  • Please can someone reply ASAP?

I just bought a 13$ lesh from t-rex company!I am trying to put it on my lizard slowly and wide open but he either opens his mouth ot run back can someone help?

  • Smaug is pretty cute. The bigger, cooler dragons in the corner are Ancalagon and Glaurung

  • hope she doesnt get bitten, that would really mess her up!!!

  • Heh, good name.

  • lol. it be pretty hilarious if that thing ran up and attacked the camera man

  • these would have no problem killing humans

  • i'm looking at getting one of these beauties!

  • @MrPirarucu97 They're endangered, and huge - good luck with that.

  • do you think she could pet or hug it without it freaking out on her?

  • @walkertexasranger33 Do you think you can hug a crocodile without it biting your head off.theirs your answer

  • @honest413 yes i do it all th etime

  • lol that's mike rowe in the background! DIRTY JOBS

  • isnt if they bite you the have some kind of poisin or very strong bacteria that will kill you?

  • @jrcfoxtrot13 yup, u wouldnt wana play fight with one. lol

  • cool animals =)

  • hes so large!!!!!! WOW!

  • @asabales in the wild the males can get bout 2 - 3 times bigger than this :p

  • He's a cute lizard

  • tiny little home for a big guy like that...

  • 8 and half feet long he only looks like a little one

  • GODZIRA!!

  • Most reptiles will learn to put up with you, if you spend enough time with them. But a reptile will never care much for you being around, other than bringing them food.

  • @JayDeLamar Indeed, specially this animal. Its evil.

  • @JayDeLamar very true, turtles this particularly comes to mind with, i have a box turtle and he greets me every morning when i wake up, if he sees me getting out of bed, hell come over to the side of his tank and extend his head up at me, their very responsive animals, id say some reptiles are fairly intelligent and responsive, for reptiles

  • @JayDeLamar I've heard anecdotal stories of tortoises becoming quite attached to their owners, and crawling towards them when they show up (sort of like puppies).

Generally though, that is the case.

  • @JayDeLamar whats makes you so sure? you trully can say that about any animal then

  • @JayDeLamar well it depends on the type of reptile. theres various factors to consider, especially intelligence. monitor lizards and especially tegu have been known to become surprisingly tame. iguana's are even smart enough to "potty train" so to speak. komodo dragons have been observed as being particularly quick to tame in captivity for monitors. they are even known to "play" games such as tug of war or small things like tugging out your shoe laces.

  • @thuzan117 I think most big lizards are smart, you just have to be around them a lot.I have big lizards that respond to their names and go back to there cages at night, evan sometimes follow voice comands. The lizards I have are iguanas and monitors.I would think a Komodo Dragon is very, very, smart !

  • @JayDeLamar not necessarily haha go to youtube.com/ watch?v=nz5mvOpCnvI

  • @JayDeLamar the komodo dragon may be the exception

  • What is that? Godzilla!

  • I think they have a nasty bite.

  • @tomheaddoc they dont have a NASTY bite, but they are extreamly faital once you are scrached or bitten, you are almost garenteed to die. they have a VERY hight bactiria level that will get infected fast. in the wild (unlike cheetas) they are not fast so they do 1 bite and just fallow a little bit till the prey dies then have a feast!

  • actually...Komodos have a very poisonous toxin in their saliva that can kill you within minutes if you get it in your blood stream...just touching it wont harm you much if you wash it quickly but if it enters a cut or scratch it can kill you

  • @Nyberg1283 almost exactly wat i was saying, you just went a little further in explaining lol, it may kill US (humans) within minouts but if it were to go after some kind of larger mammal it could take for weeks thats if you were bitten tho, but if you were scrached, they it would be highly infected and if not treated, you could verry well be hospitalized

  • @Nyberg1283 theres a difference between Bacteria and Toxins, in the Komodo Dragon's case, its a very infectious Bacteria that is in their Saliva, they did research into this, and their blood has properties that fight off this bacteria its why they cant infect each other via Biting, though i warn you NOT to look up pics of Bite Wounds of White Tail Spiders, they have a similar case, its not their Venom that gives you such a horrid looking wound, its a very infectious Bacteria covering their Fangs

  • @Lavos2007 i thought they discovered that they actually are venomus, that there are little glands inbetween each tooth that give off venom

  • you might aswel have raised a pet T rex lol

  • that thing is a Midget!!! ive seen the size of a Small boat!!

  • I'm all for animal appreciation and this is definitely a fascinating creature..... but no way in HELL would you catch me in that closed in room with that bad boy! D:

  • Say hello to my Sister, Judith (Hannah in the birds)

  • Smaug the Golden.

    This dragon eats rabbits.

Smaug tried to eat Bilbo, a hobbit, which are said to be rabbit-like humans.

  • A tegu can recognize humans and also have personalities. Most big lizards are known to be as interactive as mammals.

  • I need a tat of one of these bad boys.

  • very photogenic

  • lol

  • he will eat you oneday

  • It must be very nerve racking, but thrilling, also. They're such fascinating creatures, I would love an opportunity like that to be around them.

  • thats dumb. females can maltiply by thim selvs and give berth to male off spring to breed

  • You know what else is dumb? Your spelling.

  • early in the morning reptiles are not active

  • what lizard is the most intelligent lizard in the world?

  • them animals run hella fast too.

  • is that woman nuts!!!!!

  • y... ive worked with komodos b4

  • These things really do look like modern-day dinosaurs...and I would be very nervous to be in there with one right now...

  • i wouldnt mind i messed with a 9 foot crocodile monitor but with that saliva i see why

  • actually a cassowary or chicken is more like a modern dino

  • @houstonzoo I thought iguanas were the smartest. My uncle has one that follows him around and comes on command.

  • Never mind the bite the whip of the tail is massive massive pain

  • She never answer the question

  • have they taken the venom out of it? and she's def not worried bout the teeth!!!
