Yeah you're right, I could never watch another human being in dire need of protection and not act on it. Sorry if I came off as brash. Where I used to work (recently quit) , shoplifters didn't steal books or anything petty like that. Criminals would attempt to lift high value merchandise. Often times they would try to grab these items and flee, sometimes they would be with a friend and often they would try to fight. We had no weapons and we had to rely on our strength and judgement.
