  • You know I might actually be interested decriminalizing some drugs, but frankly Maher is so much of a asshole. Everyone else is stupid other than him and his liberal elite. Liberals are tolerant since when? He smokes every day...well that explains a lot.

  • that picture also represents my feelings towards the states.

  • I'm still trying to figure out why this video was posted the way it was?? ?I think youtubes couldn't agree more

  • America:

Where pot smokers get harsher sentences than child rapists.

Land of the world's highest prison (slave) population, yet somehow "land of the free." Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone who arrested or reported someone for smoking weed had a heart attack every time they did? These slavers need to be tracked down and publicly executed as the monsters they are!

  • America you fucked up the world with your government and now you owe us something. Oh sure you helped win two world wars, dropped some nukes on innocent non combatans and nearly caused another WW afterwards in your little powerplay with the Soviet Union but hey thats ok. All that was worth it. Now if u please could work out your shitty economy and regain control over your bankers please? I mean I want to see em hanging like good ol Sadam. Entertain the people xD

  • Bill, you 1%'er!

  • The Civil War wasnt just about slavery, money, and power. Its main purpose was to decide if states rights should be over federal rights. The north wanted it to be the federal rights over states right, and the south wanted it to be states rights over federal rights. Slavery was a BIG part of it, but it wasnt the main reason for the civil war, come on people get smart.

  • legalize pot!

  • You know, Bill Maher should really learn to shut-up about his pot use. One of these days, he's get going to get a raid at his house!

  • here's what it really comes down to: Do u want the pilot of the plane you're flying to be stoned? Of course not, case closed.

  • @chuckbaker

Do you want your pilot drunk?

Do you want your pilot high on pain killers?

Do you want your pilot drowsy on cold medicine?

So alcohol, pain killers, and cold medicine should be illegal?

Sorry, but your statement makes no sense.

I never plan to use marijuana. I never drink or smoke either. I will always respect someone else's right to use these things though. Considering people have their lives ruined by law enforcement (not MJ itself) this is not an OK situation.

  • @NucularRobit Laws in this country are made to reflect what the majority deems morally acceptable. The legalize marijuana people still don't have enough people on their side. Government agencies, like the FAA have the freedom to have even tougher standards for pilots in the interest of public safety. Do some pilots drink before they fly? Probably. But...they're not doing it legally!

  • @chuckbaker

Yes, it is illegal to fly while drunk just as it should and would be illegal to fly while high. Jumping to the conclusion that if a product can be misused makes it illegal is the flaw in your argument.

As far as how many people want it: What about the states that have legalized it and the federal government still prosecutes them? The people have voted for legal marijuana but the government ignores that.

Lastly, personal morals should have no baring. Dogmatically, anything is immoral.

  • @NucularRobit If a product can be misused doesn't make it illegal, That is done by passing laws. Democracy, remember? Personal morals has everything to do with it. That's how people vote. Yes, some states have legalized small amounts while leaving larger amounts and distribution as illegal. Can you see the flaw in that arguement?

  • @chuckbaker

And more and more laws are going against what you are arguing for. We live in a republic by the way, not a democracy.

We can disagree about morals but that kind of thinking is exactly what keeps us from avoiding horrible acts. Slavery, oppression of women, segregation, they were all defended with personal morals but zero measurable real world pros. People that resist legalized marijuana will be remembered like people that resisted civil rights. Dinosaurs holding onto dogma.

  • @NucularRobit So tell me, what planet do you live on?

  • @chuckbaker

The one where marijuana is becoming more and more legal. Guess it is true: When someone is losing an argument all they have left is insults. Or do you actually have something to refute in my post?

  • @NucularRobit We are both stating opinions, the problem is that your opinions are so contrived, it's hard to take you seriously

  • @chuckbaker What opinions? That pot is becoming more legal? Because it is. You continue to be obtuse and try and play like we are being equal. I am backing up what I say and you write it off as opinion. There are misused substances that are legal. That is a fact. We live in a republic. That is a fact. States allow their citizens to use pot while the federal government still prosecutes in those states. Prison ruins people's lives more than pot does. That is fact. What do you have a problem with?

  • @NucularRobit Yeah, I know we live in a republic, but democracy is the mechanism that upholds it. To say we don't live in a democracy is just silly. And DUHHH.. federal law takes precedent over state law. Remember the Civil War? Do you want to fight that war again, you'll lose, badly and quickly. Prison ruins people's lives because they made the wrong decisions in life. There's no other reason for it. Now stop making me humiliate you!

  • @chuckbaker In a true democracy a popular vote would count. A republic does not so easily reflect majority thinking. The difference becomes important when you say, "Laws... reflect what the majority deems... acceptable."

Prison ruins lots of innocent people's lives. Even the justice system has acknowledged it.

As for war: No, a few changed laws will do. Thanks.

Pot is becoming more legal. Misused substances are legal. You are hardly humiliating me for you are countering nothing.

  • @NucularRobit So you're back for more, we'll you asked for it. Look, if you don't like the way democracy works in this country, then leave. We'll be just fine without you. I know, why don't you get put in prison, that way you could listen to the stories of all those "innocent" people. Misused substances are legal. Yeah, no shit! What matters is what is the result of the misuse. Yes, pot is becoming more legal. But why is it only small quantities? I know the answer, do you

  • @chuckbaker

Nah, I'm fine with the way our republic works. Criticism helps this country get better. The founding fathers knew that. I think I'll stay. Laws change. Have fun with that, by the way.

Why would I go to prison? I already said it ruins lives. So that means I want to go there?

Alcohol and tobacco have varying legality in different states, but we still consider it legal on a national level. Again your argument runs into the fact that controlled substances are left to the states.

  • @chuckbaker the fact is whether you like it or not the civil war was brought about because the federal government overstepped state laws. The very conditions of the civil war exist today except now it is the Federal Government that is supporting slavery and oppression.Locking people up in prison for victimless crimes is no different than slavery.People are making their living and their fortunes from this practice not unlike the slavers of the civil war era.

  • @redray53064 Oh, grow up!

  • individual liberty means you cant tell me what to do unless im hurting someone else

  • What the fuck is that thumbnail about?

  • Not all of us are filthy rich like you Bill. Fuck off!

  • @Tsnore Not all of us are retarded inbreeds like you! Fuck off!

  • there is nothing better than the conscious state of mind, but since people fuck each other over and over daily, we need a mind altering substance just to endure the everyday atrocities of people on people. some say this needed mind altering substance should be only alcohol, but others say pot is safer and better than alcohol. i say why should anyone decide what you do to your brain? it's your brain; it's nobody's business if u want to kill it or enhance it, as long as u don't hurt anyone else.

  • S'all right talking about legalisation, but America's justice/prison system is the first thing that needs shaking up. Anyone who takes a serious look at the number of American citizens imprisoned each year, and the number of those currently serving sentences - seriously, it is a modern, and very effective slave trade. The three-strikes rule is just backward.

  • No Bill the real reason is because the front runners for supporting decriminalizing Marijuana are people like you, total douche bags. No one wants to be associate with a douche bag so when it comes to the voting ballot everyone votes against the douche bag regardless of if they agree politically. In fact the only way Bill could possibly help the decriminalization of weed is to oppose it with the same smugness he has whilst in favor for it.

  • there has been more drug-cartel related deaths in mexico in the last 5 years than in both sides of the vietnam war combined.

  • Isn't he the one with the playboy mansion..

  • I like how he has a middle finger out on the other hand too

  • Yes, let's legalize weed, then we can sell it at school cafeterias and fund our schools, plus it will make recruiting teachers easier.

  • @MrStevekehl Why not? We legalized stupidity. It's called the comments section of youtube.

  • @kurtizzyflush Did you just call yourself stupid?

  • THE PIC IS FUNNY

  • I heard 16% of inner city youth get scooped up on small time drugs charges. With legalisation that 16% would be small business owners. And why not? Our coalition forces are DYING in Afghanistan to protect the opium crops of that country's heroin farmers. The poppies get turned into H, it gets smuggled into America then the cops wanna arrest some 19 year old kid & lock him up for 10 years to be raped, brutalised &, if not killed, released as a maniac with no fear & a grudge against society? SMDH

  • Old man Maher is senile.

  • Look at old man Maher, that guy is deranged. Some men in white suits will give old man Maher a visit.

  • I respect Bill Maher immensely.

  • Somebody tell old man Maher to shoot himself in the head.

  • @donottake Right after you shoot yourself first.

  • @CrazySheyDZNuts Stick your head 0bama's ass and eat his shit.

  • @donottake You're a fucking idiot, insulting someone who is far more intelligent than you, because you can't see what he speaks is logic. Wipe the cum off your eyes and open them. Faggot.

  • @CrazySheyDZNuts Go shoot yourself in your empty head, loser. Nobody cares about worthless libs. You morons are such losers you pitch tents in urban parks. You have nothing to do but sit there and crap in your pants. When you get tired of sitting in your fucking tents you move out to street pavement and block traffic. If cars and trucks ran your pathetic asses over I would cheer. Loser.

  • ALL YOU PECKER HEADS THAT THINK YOU DON'T GET CANCER FROM SMOKING JOIINTS THAN WHY DO U THINK ANY OTHER TOBACCO WILL GIVE IT TO YOU GET REAL IT'S ALL TOBACCO I READ UP ON ALL THE TESTS THEY DID IN GERMANY AND THEY PROVED YOU CANNOT GET CANCER FROM SMOKING, ALCOHOL IS A GOGGLEPLEX MORE DANGEROUS AND THAT'S A FACT ALL YOU PECKER-HEADS SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH I GUESS POT DOES MAKE YOU LAZY AND DULL YOUR BRAIN THANK GOD FOR GOGGLE ONE BILLION PEOPLE SMOKE IN CHINA & they' better

  • like the photo

  • the people that truly want weed to stay illegal: drug dealers that reap profits from it, and the cops that also reap profits from the "addicts" they convict.

The war on drugs is a societal problem that must be stopped.

  • @frogofzion I agree with you that weed should be legalised but can you explain to me how cops 'profit' from the addicts they arrest? Is there a kickback I'm not aware of?

  • @Tesseract1976 Property confiscation. Later sold at auction. The money goes directly to the the pig sty for more operations. DEA started with $100,000,000.00 budget. Now about 4 billion dollars.

  • @RELeeOnTraveller Funding a government organisation is not the same as the cops profiting. Your words were misleading to say the least.

  • @Tesseract1976 it creates jobs for them - ( drug dealers/users to arrest )?

  • @frogofzion you are SOOOO wrong. i break the law and sell weed. not to make millions like you think or say but so i can afford a little smoko myself. i wish it were legal!!!

  • criminalize it

  • Will "theRealSparano" take a deep breath and start over? What's your question/point? If you want to smoke a dangerous, lethal, noxious substance, go ahead. Just don't do it where the dangerous smoke will affect other people's health. No people don't get cancer from marajuana and no, it's not addictive and it's not "dangerous", except for the laws against it.

  • ALL YOU PECKERS THAT SMOKE JOINTS KEEP COMPLAINING ABOUT REGULAR SMOKERS SHOULD STOP COMPLAINING BREAKING THE LAW AND LET US REAL SMOKERS FREE TO SMOKE WHERE WE WANT HOW COME YOU DON'T ARGUE THAT POINT DON'T YOU GET CANCER FROM SMOKING JOINTS WHOSE THE PHONIES NOW AND GOD BLESS EVERYONE NOW EVEN YOU JOINT SMOKERS

  • @TheRealSparano Check your keyboard, there's probably a little light on. Hit your 'caps lock' and it should turn off.

    Then go away.

  • I like living in my country. While I don't do drugs myself.

We are better schooled on it. It is allowed in certain places, thereby the quality is better, which also means it is safer.

Plus we have a clearer distinction between soft drugs (reasonably safe) and hard drugs (dangerous).

  • I tried marijuana, I didn't like it, I didn't enjoy it. However, I have nothing against it, I'd completely legalize it.

  • Marijuana is FINE... It is not inherently bad... it CAN be bad... but it depends on the person.

  • ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐

  • They should take this goof off the air.

  • Yeah, let's not forget that keeping it illegal is a form of religious persecution. And the present system allows the government to sidle people with ridiculous fines and sieze their assets (homes, cars, children).

  • I don't know about anyone else, but when I'm high I drive BETTER!

  • i totally agree!!!!!!!!

  • i cant watch this - i want a smoke so bad now....

  • @timewilltell7 hear hear :p

  • I love him!

  • Bill Maher tried to get a job as a gargoyle but they said he was too ugly.

Seriously, he makes James Carville look like Brad Pitt.

  • There is no legitimate scientific study that I know of that proves marijuana is more addictive than cigarettes, in fact most studies show it as non addictive.

  • The results of the Toronto study in the 70's and others conducted then, led to the LeDain commision which recommended to Parliament the legalization of marijuana, but under pressure from the US administration the matter was dropped. This is a fact which can be verified.

  • There has been studies of the effect of marijuana on driving done by the addiction research foundation in Toronto Canada in the 70's. My friend , a brilliant phd in physics was one of the subjects. The results over a ten day period were this: each subject was tested driving completely sober, then after a large amount of marijuana, then alcohol, and finally alcohol and marijuana. Marijana improved skills, alcohol detracted, and both was worst.

  • I have never smoked or taken marijuana. As long as it remains illegal, I never will. If legalized, I will not smoke marijuana (I hate the smell.) That being said, I fully support the legalization of recreational marijuana. Marijuana is less dangerous and less addictive than alcohol, nicotine, and even caffeine.

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

  • Bill Maher I support legalizing Marijuana but Marijuana killed and kills a lot of people. It is less harmful than alcohol, but also bad. and if you or one of the people you know haven't died or killed anyone while under the influence. or knew the drug dealer that killed someone. or seen someone kill, rob or steal to get money to buy it, then you are ignorant. and no different from someone who doesn't believe in the Holocaust.

  • @IronAssassin9 ya but they do that shit because it's illegal meaning it cost more so people will kill each other for it and when he means kills he referring to actually taking the drug and overdosing

  • @TheWhiteOp that is true to some degree. Marijuana is more addictive than cigarettes according to scientific research and less addictive than alcohol. Scientists have been wrong before, but I always put my money on scientists than people telling me about their experiences and their friends' experiences. However, I support legalization because the vast majority of the deaths happen on the hands of the drug dealers.

  • @IronAssassin9 "Marijuana is more addictive than cigarettes according to scientific research and less addictive than alcohol."

Really? That's news to me. Cite your source please. Eagerly awaiting your reply.

  • @Tesseract1976 those are people paid to spam lies. don't even argue with them!

  • @IronAssassin9 the drug itself has not killed anybody.. no overdose ever put on record. and people don't go out robbing for money to buy weed thats just ridiculous...alcohol is more intoxicating than Cannabis and people don't go out robbing so they can buy alcohol now if you say crack or meth then yes those are the type of drugs that people need no matter what.. some people will suck a dick to get a fix... but not for weed and if you think otherwise then you don't know what your talking about.

  • @MrPopeye232323 people do rob because of it. I arrested a few. in Nova Scotia Canada. you could only be right if they lied in the police station. it is rare I give you that, but I know what I am talking about!

  • @IronAssassin9 I'm in Cincinnati and a cop just got a dui on duty 3 days ago. It's rare but it happens. A thief is a thief and a drunk is a drunk.

  • Bill Maher I support legalizing Marijuana but Marijuana killed and kills a lot of people.

  • this picture is so epic, i didnt even listen to audio just laughing about this shit right here hahahah

  • YOU CAN GO HUG SOME BODY

  • Potheads start caring about legalization when they get throw in a for profit jail. Too late, chump.

  • peace.

  • The illegality if pot has nothing to do with health, caring about the welll being of the american people, its all about the money, dupont and thier nylon, the medicinal uses, the loggers for paper, hemp is a much better source of fiber than trees, of course there is the phony drug war, our 250 privately owned prisons, everything about the growing of hemp helps the economy, the environment, its just another example of the ruling class blatantly lying to line their pockets

  • @MrDANNYUNDERWOODky Lol hemp is a much better source of fiber than paper? No it isn't.

  • @klm4298 It's better for the environment, not sure if that was the point of the original poster, but that should have been.

  • @klm4298 i didnt say paper, i said trees. The fact of how long it takes a tree to grow in relation to a hemp plant, there is no comparison. plus the revenue it would create for the farmers that grow it would be a real uplift, in the economy, especially here in kentucky.

  • I don't smoke, but I prefer when my father smoke week and relax , then drink and do something stupid !!!

  • @legalizegreen420 When did Bill Maher used the finger liked that in his show because if this is a fake edit or an actual painting you did on Windows Paint or something than you sir are an artistic genius. Also I don't smoke pot and never will but I don't mind people smoking pot because I think it's the least bad drug like cigerrettes unlike heroin which will really fuck people up I think, and I strongly believe legalizing it will end the criminal nature and violance of drug dealings

  • lol at that picture

  • BILL MAHER IS 100% RIGHT!

  • i guess bill maher really is a libertarian

  • Comment removed

  • @saintstrawman Don't beat around the bush man, what are you trying to say? Prove anything Maher says wrong.

  • @saintstrawman ???? what are you even saying????

any way Bill Maher is cool and super funny

what NWO propaganda???? weed??? are you ok man ????

you sound like you should ask your doctor for pills that fix brains full of feces!

  • @saintstrawman Lemme guess, christian?

  • @saintstrawman HEY!!!!! WHAT THE FUCKS WRONG WITH PIZZA BRO??

  • @saintstrawman you sir are a prophet and a scholar....

  • @johnnythesailorman why, thanks

  • They guy ses weed doesnt kill, but what about psychosis caused by skunk?

  • @TheKlink if it was legal and regulated like other legal drugs it would be safe and psychosis would not exist as a result of its use.

  • @MegaFrogballs

You're probably right, but the reason people keep breeding stronger varieties of weed is because it's illegal currently, so someone used to skunk would probably see 1960s-style legalised weed as a waste of time, it'd be like a coors lite compared to vodka for an alcoholic.

  • @TheKlink there is no psychosis. Have you smoked it I have. I ate a bag of bbq chips and slept for ten hours didn' rerally like it I had shit to do lol

  • The height of arrogance is the height of control of those who create God in their image. This ideological process of distortions and dehumanisation over the millenia is a nessasary feature of minority rule to control societies for their material gain and power. Capitalism is the globalisation of the rule of the minority elite and global phenomena of the monetary control of the working class shackled in wage slavery of useless employment in world market mechanism of atificial scarcity.

  • The reason it's going to be hard to legalize weed is because The Sheriff and The Judges are funneling money into their pockets through fines and fees in drug courts, they hang jail time threats over your head till money is extorted out of you and your family. WE MUST IDENTIFY THE PEOPLE IN OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM WHO USE THE LAW TO VIOLATE OTHERWISE INNOCENT AMERICAN CITIZENS.

  • FUCK YES!

  • Bill's Knuckles on his left hand looks arthritic!

  • I do not do drugs, but Bill Mayher is right on this one (and on most things)

  • Just an announcement for the "authorities" - some of US still believe in freedom. And if we do not have the freedom to do what we want with our bodies and minds - then I say we have NO fucking freedom at all - and you are all just liars.

  • Where is the picture from?

  • Pot makes people drive slower and more cautiously. Alcohol makes people make mistakes behind the wheel

  • Bill Maher is a self-righteous, pompous a**hole.

  • @DONGOE no he is a rationalist, and he makes only good points... the fact that you say he is an asshole most likely means you are religious... in which case i can see why you would call him that because you have your blinders on and cannot see anyone elses view because there is no possible way they can be right (sarcasm)... if you are not religious idk what is wrong with you...

  • @yake12 - I think that you got it. Rationalists believe only what they can see or prove by science and most likely very shallow in their thought processes.

  • @DONGOE Only because he's a smart individual who has little patience for idiocy.

  • @DONGOE Not only that. He is one of the agents for destroying mankind through deceit.

  • THOUSANDS DID EVERY YEAR BY VIOLENCE AND ON THE HIGHWAYS DUE TO MARIJUNA......... SO SAYING IT DOSEN'T KILL IS A DAMNED LIE !

  • The problem with Marijuana being legal actually has absolutely nothing to do w/ its effects on people, that just the public excuse along w/ the 'gateway' bullshit. The real reason is this, Tobacco Industry will be hurt from decline in cigs, Pharm.Industry would decline because of all the ailments weed can treat, and treat better than their chemical BS, Law enforcement budget would take a huge hit down, plus the drug dealers are making to much fing money. None of these ass's will allow this

  • @shadowwbn You asshole, Yeah the Marlboro man looks like the typical pot head. The reason why its not legal is we see ASSHOLES like you and rightly assume you're the result of marijuana use, a dumbass.

  • I was looking for the actual clip where this image was captured from, with Maher losing it like a monkey. I don't think I can stand looking through more clips of him being smug rather than angry...

  • @MrBonnalurken He has no reason to lose it, he is smart so he doesn't have to get angry when presented with idiocy. :)

  • If weed was legalized, wouldn't we have a lot more brain cells dying? I mean we already have alcohol which messes up brain function, but that's temporary, won't prolonged weed use will screw your brains up permanently?

  • @JeanLouie1106 No brain cells regenerate ever, wish Bill Maher had a few extra, he's such a putz.

  • @TheKickerboy99

They don't "regenerate" but they grow back, and the synapes reconnect; thats why people remember things after they have had amnesia.

Ofcourse we get new brain cells, thats how our brains grow.

  • @ThomasWadeFraser I think you'll find that they don't, unless you have stem cell infusion, only problem is they on't do it yet. Nerve cells do not typically regenerate with the exception of olfactory stem cells and other self-replacing areas of the body, eyes, nails, hair, stuff that replaces itself all the time the brain and your nervous system do not. That is why we have paralysis. Our brains do not grow.

  • @ThomasWadeFraser On the same token, I like the odd puff, and I drink. These things are not good for me i know this, everything in moderation is the key. People let these things ruin their lives. That is where progressives and others think that government knows better, and will help the stupid people manage living. Its always the stupid people that wreck it for everyone.

  • @TheKickerboy99

    "Our brains do not grow."

...then why are adult brains bigger than baby brains? ;)

We never stop getting new cells, and new connections within the brain are made all the time.

  • @ThomasWadeFraser Adults brains do not continue to grow, if so stroke patients would recover function, they do not. Once you are full grown, thats it i'm afraid. If your brain continued to grow your skull would have to too. Brain cells do not regenerate. Why am I even answering you this is silly.

  • @TheKickerboy99

But patients do recover from strokes... my gran has :p

And what your claiming is rediculous, its like saying "Muscles don't grow obviously, because if they did, they would explode".

The brain cells grow back when needed, this is one of the reasons people have "miracle cures" that appear magical.

  • @ThomasWadeFraser hey i know ask a doctor

  • Bill is a disturbed Marxist Hater who has no regard for anyones opinion but his limited scope.

  • Bill is THE FUCKING MAN!

  • I wish people would stop glamorizing marijuana. It's a drug. It's unhealthy and addictive. It's a gateway drug for many. You can't be high all the time and live a successful, productive life. Drugs are a road to nowhere. Stay straight.

  • well maybe, just maybe, you can manage a life where you are high some of the time.

    like, i don't know, alcohol?

  • If people could use recreational drugs sensibly and safely that would be fine. We all know about the massive drug addiction problem in this country, including alcoholism. I've been high, I understand the attraction. I once stole 5 valiums from my Mom. I have NEVER felt better. I also knew enough to never do it again. I was 17 and I knew then that feeling that good would come with a terrible price if I kept it up. Pot for recreational use, not a biggie. Using it every day? Road to nowhere, folks.

  • being dutch i may have a different persective on this, but out here it isn't a problem. it's no more a gateway drug than coffee or alcohol and even less adictive than those two.

i come from a region that was home to the biggest coffee shop on the planet and where homegrowing was as normal as growing veggies, however, once past a certain age almost all people stop smoking.

let people make there own decisions and most of the time it will work itself out

  • timothy, to say that marijuana is a gateway drug is tantamount to saying that tylenol is a gateway drug. Because I garan-god-damn- tee you that EVERY person in america that is addicted to valium, vicodin, oxycotin, lortab........ started out using tylenol (or some form of NSAID). bu the way, I think Bill Maher is a Facist piece of shit. I disagree with him (politically) almost 100%. Having said that, he makes a lot of sense in this discussion.

  • @vcovreson, Nobody takes tylenol to get high. It's not a recreational drug. It doesn't make you feel good or happy or alter your mood in any way. Marijuana does all of these things, therefore it's much more likely to be addictive and a gateway drug. Like I said before, I've been high so I understand the appeal. I believe too many people will abuse the hell out of marijuana if it's legal and very easy to obtain like alcohol is. I think it's asking for trouble. Too many people are irresponsible.

  • dude, you can believe and likely all you want, there are actual facts on the matter. it's less addictive than almost all other drugs.

it has been legal in the netherlands for ages, altough somewhat resticted, like alcohol. it's not a problem here, it never has been, and as long as religious nutjobs don't get to much power, it always will be.

if you expect people to be irresponsible they will be

  • @rasmAn2, First, I hope your comment about "religious nutjobs" wasn't aimed at me. I am an atheist and have nothing but disdain for most religious fanatics. I would expect the Dutch people to be more responsible regarding drug use than Americans. For the most part, Europeans are more intelligent and have more class than us Americans, Uh oh, now gung ho Americans are going to crucify me with mean and nasty comments. The truth hurts.

  • it was pointed in general to acual regilious nutjobs.

if you view the voting numbers out here there not more intelligent. the biggest party here, the CDA, concistently fuck everything up the touch but still get votes, because relatively old cristian people still vote for them. that's why i have to go without a supermarket on sundays, and faithschools and chutches still get goverment money.

but some things are indeed way better out here .

  • "dude, you can believe and likely all you want" What does that mean?

"it has been legal in the netherlands for ages, altough somewhat resticted" --Have you freaking been to the netherlands? Amsterdam is a SHITHOLE. Full of slums and prostitutes. Because all the bums go their to smoke weed.

"as long as religious nutjobs don't get to much power, it always will be." --You just invalidated any common sense that you have. You are retarded.

  • "What does that mean?"

it means there is evidence to go by, instead of rumours and believes.

"Have you freaking been to the netherlands?"

i have, it's kind of hard not to, being dutch and all. i agree that amsterdam is a shithole, so is paris and london. but there is more to a country than it's capital. there are no slums there, and prostitution is legal, it's called freedom. the bums are mostly foreiners, who can't smoke in there own country.

  • tim, given your past drug use, i'd think you'd understand that at least PART of the allure of doing drugs (especially when you're younger) is that they're taboo. the 'forbidden fruit' and all that. why is there such a big drug/liquor problem in junior high and high schools? it's not because of their lack of availability. why is it that the countries with the strictest drug/liquor laws have the highest crime incindents with those substances. how many grade school drunks are there in Italy?

  • @vcovreson, This is my past drug use: I've been high on marijuana twice. I stole 5 valiums from my Mom and took them all at once one time when I was 17. Oh yeah, I've also been drunk more than a few times. Yes, it feels good to be under the influence of certain drugs. I just think that people who smoke pot every single day are most likely addicted to it and can't or won't admit it. I'm not a prude or a killjoy. I just think recreational drug use should be done carefully and with caution.

  • tim, we're not really disagreeing here. and the part about ppl who smoke weed are addicted, this is purely psychological. there are no withdrawl symptoms, except for the feeling that you want to get high. no headaches, night chills, paranoia....... been there.

  • No..he's right. Marijuana is a gateway drug. When you buy Mary Jane, is that all your dealers sell? No! They sell other stuff as well...stuff that sells for a bit more then mary jane, or even cheaper but you get a bigger high. THAT..is how you are lead to another drug. Comparing marijuana to tylenol is tantamount.

  • redz, actually, back when i used to smoke pot, my dealers predominately sold weed. maybe some mushrooms, a little coke, that was about it. myself, i never got into the 'heavier' drugs. but, like i said, that was just me. my comparison b/w weed and tylenol still stands up. no, they're not identical, there's just a similiar progression fom one 'class' to another.

  • that's exactly the reason to legalize, so that you can manage it. one woulnd't have to go to a dealer to buy.

here in the netherlands it isn't a gateway drug, because it's legal. like alcohol isn't a gateway drug, or coffee, or tabacco, or asperine.

  • I get what you are saying, definitly. Here in America it is definitly a gateway drug, just becuause most everyone who sells it, sells other stuff as well. I do see your point though man,

i still dont like bill maher though :) haha

  • well if you get what i'm saying and agree with it, then why are you against the legalisation of marijuana?

it's costing you money every day it isn't legalized, you have no real point against it medicaly and even socialy it's just a matter of getting used too (even out here it's not completely socialy accepted)

face it, there is no reason to keep it illegal

  • Except that more people will smoke and when people smoke weed they do things that some people dont. Which means we will have more people doing stupid stuff.

Alchohol leads to many many many deaths per year, wheter its driving while intoxicated or what not. People drink because its legal and thats perfectly fine. But why add another item like that to the market and make it readily accessible to everyone. It will just lead to more deaths.

  • no it won't. you cut out an entire segment of crime, so less power to crimial organisations. plus the money you no longer have to spent on locking people up can go to better education. and you don't have to make it readily available, you just legalize it. you can control how much people can buy, and the amount of thc in it. there is no proof that it will lead to more deaths, all the evidence seens to point to the opposite

why add another item? freedom! have the power to make your own decisions!
