Actually, it was a mob run company that installed the fireproofing in the towers. There were a number of problems with the fireproofing, from shoddy work to the fact that the columns and trusses were rusty, preventing adequate adhesion.

The president of the compant that installed the fireproofing was wacked by John Gotti for disrespect. his body was left in the parking garage of the towers.

Speaking as a veteran fire fighter, I know that I would get my brothers together, point out that if we sit on the evidence, we still have to worry about getting whacked anyway, so it would be better to go public enmasse.
