  • The differences are colors(more blue in the A, so the decals that are included with the kit are correct) The A version has a different shuttle bay, the bay that comes with the kit is correct for the refit, Minor hull changes, which are addressed with the kit instructions and spare parts. Basically, If you're going to go full scale, you will have to buy either decals,(or paint) to model the refit, or the aftermarket shuttlebay to model the A version.

PS: Go with the refit, it dies a proper death

  • dumb ? What is the major diff. between the Refit and the 1701A or are they both the same, I just got started on this kit, thanks for posting these. Jeff

  • Just bought the 1/350 PL NX-01 kit...saving up for the light kit and studying your tips..thanks.

  • hello mike, iam just starting the lighting for the kit, what did u use to light the red lights above the shuttle bay i have the lighting kit from trek modeler, not sure how to postion the lighs around the shuttle bay also i have been doing models for many yeaars, your enterprise is outstanding my best mike...

  • did you use the figures from the Paragraphics, or PNt. set?

  • Very interesting.

  • Could you please be kind enough to send me the where you got the gold card thingy PNT? and Paragraphics kits? thank you, You are my Jedi master, in as far as your video is guiding me in making mine. Please help thank you, I can't find them on search engines.

  • @starfleetvulcan The PNT kit is no longer avaliable, but they pop up on ebay from timt to time. Do a google search on the Paragraphix kit(make sure you spell it right) They are on ebay a lot, but also avaliable through starshipmodelerDOTcom store. If you can't find the PNT kit, dont worry, the Paragraphix is the better of the 2 and the arboreatum walls from the PNT kit can be easily scratchbuilt. 3D figures can be found in 1/350 scale from just about any modeling site as a lot of ships are 1/350

  • Wow, very nice. I haven't built a model since I was about 15 but always did want to try a super detailed 1701-A.... my favorite incarnation of the Enterprise. Same ship as TOS except born again sleek! Hey have we flown together on Realflight g5.5? My handle there is Stringfellow.... Seems like I recognize your voice.

  • top video dude, I have the model planning to start on it soon

  • well done! that is amazing detail.

  • You are very talented. Great Job on everything! Inspires me to get back into modeling!

  • Amazing detain work. That is AWESOME work!

  • I am completely blown away. Especially on the arboretum.

  • Hi

    spelling error paragrafix.

  • Hi

Yo did an awsome job on this kit. Hope mine looks as good when im done. I have the parafax phot-etch kit but where can i get the P&T phot-etch kit. At this time can't find it anywhere. Keep up the great work in kitbuilding.

  • Outstanding! I pulled the trigger on the Big E last week (early Xmas present to myself, lol!). I'm returning to modeling after a 20+ year hiatus...already got my legs back with the 1/1000 PL refit Enterprise. Seeing your videos makes me want to collect lighting systems and whatnot, since I'm not even considering breaking the seal on the box until spring. Well done sir.

  • @Hpynos2010 Thanks, I just got the 1/350 NX-01 and waiting for the light supplies to arrive. I will probably start on it in 3-4 weeks.

  • @helipilot27 Where can you get lighting kits for the 1/350 nx-01? (polar lights kit)

  • Geez, put the camera on a tripod or something so you don't feel the need to "fast pan" all over the place all the time. I got motion sick from trying to watch and had to quit. .... Looks like it'll be a cool model though.

  • @Dutch2142 Really? You got motion sick from watching a youtube video? You are a delicate little flower aren't you?

  • @helipilot27 WOW the AMT kit didn’t come like this 25 years ago! I’m speechless at how far the model kits have advanced!

I don’t fancy doing this again it took weeks to make the models a lot of trail and error with the engines as they tend to lean over and once the glue was set, it, you get the idea!

    WOW great attention to detail!

  • @helipilot27 The first or I think second AMT kit 25 years ago I modified with fibre optics and flashing lights that was fibre optics and a few grain and rice bulbs I even cut out the rec section and fitted some simple clear plastic and used match sticks for window frames. I must have had some 10 or so wires coming out the bottom section of the Enterprise. I used some 40 meters of fibre optics.

I don’t fancy do it again twice was fun enough. I’ll just watch you guys having fun now. LOL

  • Awesome - shall have to look around to see a finished-product video!

  • Hi!

I didn't understand what you used for the gras, because this is a big problem for me to find the right thin stuff. Could you please tell me what exactly you used for the gras?

    Stunning work on this! :)

  • @ShipHunter It's just model railroad scenery grass(fine). It comes in a variety of colors for any season. I chose bright colors for a late spring day.

Remember your working in 1/350 scale, so get the finest grass avaliable.

  • @helipilot27

Thank you very much :) I now ordered Woodland Fine Turf in a middle-green tone.

Never modeled in this scale, normally I do 1:35 scale modelling, so this will be an interesting project.

  • Well done! Now I am definitely going to have to purchase one. Question is, where the hell am I going to put it?

  • Fantastic work. Inspires me to get this kit for myself. Never done anything with internal lighting though...

  • This is brilliant work. I have the old Ertl model that I have been adding and cutting to make more accurate. but your work is brilliant I am very impressed with your botanical garden

  • That's beautiful; I wish I had you patience.

  • Amazing work

  • That is SO realistic! Props for that! Keep up the good work!

  • OMG this is mint

  • WOW your botanical section is just amazing!!! Probably won't see a lot of it when the kit is buttoned up, but still! Awesome work. I used the same type trees. And the Arboretum was my first build too, I show it on my blog.

  • The PE is great, eh?

  • @ModelManTom Yes its pretty nice, it's easy to bend(both kits scored bend points) and those girders really make a difference in the shuttle bay.

  • I just got my first ever, for another model, in the mail from Paragrafix yesterday and it is gorgeous. I hate the idea of using it, it's so beautiful!
