"...soon" . Over two years later and no update. Cool. Can it be that tough? The fact that Canon integrated such a major--unnecessary--issue makes me second-guess their products.

The fact that that haven't yet addressed such a glaring problem makes me second-guess their customer commitment.

If you are thinking of getting a 7D for video and you need sound, remember that you will NEED a third party audio recorder. As if we want to pay 500 more dollars and carry around yet another device.

I have th efollowing:

1. Canon EOS 7D

2. H4N

3. Apple FCP with plural eyes.

Can you please let me know the exact Audio equipment used. Sennheiser has several models on Amazon. Which model exactly you suggest for a multi talent shoot where each actor is seperated by a distance of 5 meters. I want to have 4 channels on my H4N. Which wireless mic set solves my issue if I were to shoot a drama kind of shot.

I have found if you put a decent mic in to the Zoom HN4 then take the line out of the Zoom in to the 5dmk11 mic input, the sound recorded is exactly the same on both machines , I have put the two audio files side by side in logic pro. The main problem is monitoring while recording , the line out output from the zoom is also the headphone out put , thanks Zoom DOH !! anyway thanks your videos , really useful in the cloudy dslr days

You said that the 7d wouldnt have the same trouble with the drifting as the 5d does. I am using the 7d and the zoom h4n and for some reason when i shoot in 23.98 the audio will drift out of sync 5-7 minutes down the line. any info on how i can fix this easily?

Hey man i just got my 7d and when i record video with it it it makes this really loud sizzling sound and when i zoom in or out it makes a louder stuttering sound.... Is this normal??.. im using the Kit lens that came with it the 28-135 mm

yea it's normal. That lens isn't meant for zooming while you're recording. You should set your zoom level before you start recording.

Ok, but I'm wanting to go on an extended trip that will take me from urban areas to hill stations. Is double sound/ H4N audio recording really practical for that sort of setting???

There is an audio device that you can use if you don't like the H4N (which I owned & returned as it was poorly made & transferring files was a pain).

If its still available, try the Beachtek DXA-5D for DSLR Video. You'll need a converter for the XLR cable.

You are awesome, I have d90 and saw this tutorial, and never know what do buy, but did a research after your video, and people saying it zoom is superB product. Thats what I will get for my d90. How to record the video on the concert to make that sound perfect? Can you tell us please. All the time audio comes outloaded and sounding with a lot of bass and noise. Thank you.
