  • Anyone who THINKS Hasek is better than Roy or Brodeur is a fan boy of either Buffalo or Detroit. To bad Hasek caused Ottawa a potential cup in '05? Remember that? Best goalie give me a break. You forget all those playoff OT games esp. the one where the Canadiens were outshot 22-1 in OT and Roy stood on his head, meanwhile the only shot MTL got Claude Lemieux scored. Hasek was good, but if your arguing hes better than Roy or Brodeur theres a reason why your an avrg "joe" and not a hockey analyst.

  • Geez, I remember looking up to Hasek when I was younger when he played for the Wings. What a goalie I tell you what.

  • How many Conn Smythe trophies does Hasek have again? Roy has 3! And Conn Smythe is respectively bigger accomplishment than Hart. Then you need to check up on Brodeur, only Goalie ever to 600wins, most 40+ w seasons, 35, and 30. Most shutouts, most gp, most saves made all time. Brodeur played over 500 more NHL games than Hasek. Thats a lot! Hasek's career sv % is .922 Brodeur's is .919. As of now, #1 Roy, #2 Brodeur, #3 Hasek. Its all personal opinion.

  • @rapinNtapin a what? conn smythe trophy is more prestige then Hart trophy

(hart memorial trophy)? where did you came from? you r a canadian so you should know hart memorial trophy is the oldest and the most prestigious individual avard in hockey .. for the most valuable player for his team in NHL Hasek have 2 of them in seasons 96-97 97-98 .. Roy 0 .. Marty 0 ... i respect your personal opinion i dont try to hate i just correcting you about the trophies

  • @Omgwtfimcow Hart is not worth more than a Conn Smythe. Being the most valuable player to your team while winning the stanley cup is a much more of a feat than doing it in the regular season. Roy is better than Hasek. If you think not then you seriously need to watch what Roy did in '86, '93, '01. Hasek 735gp 389W 223L 1,572ga 20,220sa 2.20gaa .922sv% Brodeur 1171gp 646W 350L 117so 2.22gaa .914sv%. Its personal preference. I'd take Brodeur any 9 times out of 10 over Hasek.

  • @rapinNtapin well if you dont believe me you can found it everywhere : hart trophy is the "oldest and most prestigious individual award in hockey" most of the guys who get this trophy is in hall of fame .. i think only 2 or 3 of them are not .. but the trophy is 90% ticket to hall of fame

  • @Omgwtfimcow Oh so I guess because Jose Theodore won the hart trophy in 2002 hes better than Brodeur and Roy too? (lol) your basing a guy on one trophy to be the best of all-time. Gretzky won it 9 times, Orr 3, but I can assure you Orr was a much better hockey player. Broduer has records pilling higher than Hasek's overall wins. The man played almost 500 more games. 500! At the end of the day Roy 4 cups, Brodeur 3, Hasek 2. And 1 of them Osgood was #1. 2008. Case closed point made.

  • @rapinNtapin you just miss the point .. the point was hart trophy is most PRESTIGIOUS HOCKEY AWARD IN NHL .. so that means is better then conn smythe do you get it now? i never said who has hart trophy is better then player who dont have it .. i never said that lol

  • @Omgwtfimcow Your missing my point. What did Hasek win? a Hart at the end of the season. What did Roy win A STANLEY CUP AND A CONNE SMYTHE AT THE EXACT SAME TIME. Get over it. Saying Hasek is better than Roy is just dumb. Plain and simple.

  • the thing you said is conn smyth trophy is more valuable then hart and guess what its not lol .. stanley cup is a team trophy not a invidual .. and BTW you know when hasek win his last cup? in 2008 so how old he was? he was 42 year old and he still can win a stanley cup with a team .. it doesnt matter if he wins it both at the same time .. only conn is invidual trophy .. you r just pathetic kid who is fucking jealous sellfish .. hasek rulez take it like a man and stop crying about it

  • @rapinNtapin maybe then 80% of peoples here are stupid .. only you canadians are so smart lol .. cuz only canadians complain about Hasek ... and once again if you look in the internet it will improvise your knowledge about trophies .. trophies doesnt stack lol like you trying to say here .. Hart trophy-Conn Smythe trophy is INVIDUAL TROPHIES .... STANLEY CUP IS A DAMN TEAM TROPHY .. you mixing thing's up and trying to stack trophies .. oh boy you r silly ....

  • @rapinNtapin that's showing me you have no knowledge and no idea about hockey and trophies .. and its wasting of my time to explain something to you ask somebody in your neighborhood how it works and what is the most valuable INDIVIDUAL trophy for player in NHL .. end of story have a nice day there jackson

  • @rapinNtapin who the hell cares he played 500 games more then hasek? maybe in NHL .. Hasek is 46 and he is still playing in KHL .. roy ios not playing anymore and how old is he? Marty is 39 i want to see him 7 years later where he is gonna be

  • @Omgwtfimcow Hes 46? LOL and Brodeur 39 and yet Brodeur already played 500 more games in the NHL than Hasek. KHL? Your comparing the NHL to KHL? Just proves you have no clue in what your tryna argue here. Jagr proved the KHL sucks when he left to come back and play for the Flyers. As for Roy your point is still invalid. Roy did much more in his' career than Hasek. He still cant hear you he has those 4 cup rings stuck in his ears. lol

  • North American hockey players are usually a little overrated. That's just it.

  • Anyone remember olympic games 1998 Nagano? In the semifinals Canada made zero goals out of five against Hasek in the shoot out and Hasek shut out Russia in the gold game too... Now that's a goalie.

  • Dominik Hasek #2? What were these guys smoking? I want that sh't too.

Wins and stanley cup don't mean crap because they are won by the TEAM not the GOALIE.

  • @typhon216 2x Hart Trophy 2x Lester B. Pearson Avard 6x Vezina Trophy 3x William M. Jennings Trophy 5x Golden Hockey Stick (czech most prestige Trophy) First European goalie to lead the NHL in GAA ... First goalie since 1974 to have a GAA below 2.00 in season 1993–94 ... 1st place – Highest career save percent (.922) ..

  • @typhon216 Possibly the most impressive single-game performance by any player in NHL history came on April 27, 1994. Hašek made 70 saves in a 4OT shutout. The opposing goalie was Martin Brodeur, then a rookie, who made 49 saves before being beaten by Dave Hannan and the Sabres beat New Jersey 1–0. Hašek's 70 saves set a record, which still stands, for the most saves without allowing a goal.

  • @typhon216 so maybe is not only Stanley cup what he won .... and he is 46 and he still playing in KHL its not that prestige like NHL but you still must be good to play there ... so maybe you should start smoking something stronger or quit it :)

  • @Omgwtfimcow Yeah, I Ment Hasek should be #1 :D No question.

  • how the hell is Roy first? and brodeur 7th! personal stats I believe Hasek or Sawchuk should definately be #1 and 2, but roy common the guy was a huge poor sport and a complete ass hole

  • @Vinnie7683 I think your on drugs

  • Patrick Roy. Best goalie ever, then hasek, then Bernie parent! He's playing in the alumni game and he's 66! Then after him, pelle Lindbergh. I love that nickname "Eddy the Eagle"!

  • Of course Hasek is the best goalie. No one who keeps open eyes can't deny that. Only some people hesitate just because Hasek is not CANADIAN. That's unfair.

  • hasek was known as the dominator. that alone deserves you the #2 spot..but roy was the greatest..which is why he was known as king of the crease.

  • #33 will live on forever in our hearts. And what is with ppl and martin broduer? HE SUCKS! Go Flyers!

  • Roy still best goaltender ever to play in the NHL. My second is dominik hasek

  • One thing I have noticed, and I have so much respect for Hasek, like you can't believe... Hasek supporters seem to credit his style and how he looks in net, not a valid argument unless it's figure skating and you score out of 10, and it doesn't do credit to how you observe goalies either, even the blind could recognize Hasek has the most different looking style so PLEASE point to Hasek's superior numbers on inferior teams, constant Vezina awards, and Hart awards in the goalie position. Respect!

  • @Vinnie7683

One word and better yet it's abbreviated, LOL.

  • Also notice how Roy's stats weren't that good when he was on the Canadians. .

  • @Breakinwords

You mean his Conn Smythe and two Stanley Cups? Or do those not count because the championship does not matter let al one being the MVP of it? Those "weren't that good" stats? Don't even care for your answer seeing how you didn't even know those "stats" you talk about, EG, save percentage, GAA, were great for that era. If you compare it to now, well, no comment your analysis speaks for itself.

  • Hasek is better then Roy HIGHEST save percentage. Roy had very good Defense . And acted like a child and got into a lot of fights.

  • @Breakinwords

Of all the arguments you could put up for Hasek being better, that's what you came up with? Roy DID NOT have very good defense for two of his Stanley Cups in MTL.

  • no footage of the 86 cup? ben voyons donc!

  • 1# Vladislav Tretjak! Look wiki and learn!!!!!

  • @TheTerziRule Can't you read? top 10 NHL goalies...anyway he wouldnt be #1

  • @Latvietis1996 Roy always played on good teams team awards mean shit all if u r on a bad team

  • Come on Patrick Roy is better than Hasek, because Roy have 4 Stanley Cups, 3 Conn Smith trophies(what is NHL record), adn 551 win

  • @Latvietis1996 stanley cup is team Trophy not invidual .. Hasek wins 2x Hart trophy

the oldest and most prestigious individual award in hockey ..... Roy has 0

  • Call me crazy but Sawchuck, Roy, Brodeur, Fuhr, Hasek, Hall, Plante? Something like that?

  • Hasek as an entertainer and as a competitor is the greatest goalie of all time. Winner of 2 Stanley Cups, could've been 3 if the referees weren't paid off by the Dallas Stars in '99.

  • PATRICK ROY IS THE BEST THAT WILL EVER BE!! #33

  • The bruins goalies hold the records for Most consecutive games won..............

17 Gilles Gilbert and most games without a loss 32 Gerry Cheevers!

  • Hasek and sawchuk were the best, Tretyak was up there to but he wasnt NHL

  • HASEK IS THE GREATEST. OF ALL TIME.

  • Hasek was better. He didnt have the win count but his quality of play was much better, and the fact that he's still playing at 46 in the KHL and still kicking ass....I dont see Roy still playing do you?

  • The only player I have seen get a 100 overall in a video game

  • Hasek=#1 goalie of All-Time

  • Hasek was the best goalie ever.

  • i think hasek is best goalie ever,he had different style than other's goalies and he still playing in russia and he is best over there,he never get old he's 46 years old ....thumps up for hiim.....GO HASEK!!!

  • Who would make it into top 10 goalie list out of today's class of goalies? Tim Thomas would definitely be number 1 Henrik Lundquist? Marc Andre Fleury? It's pretty difficult to make a list of today's goalies.

  • Hasek´s best live performances was in Nagano ´98...GREATEST GOALIE OF ALL TIME !!!

  • Pelle Lindbergh hands down greatest goalie ever

  • 1. Hasek/Roy 2. Plante 3. Brodeur

  • 1)Hasek,2) Brodeur,3) Roy

  • Yes i miss parent and hextall. They also renewed the syle of playing a goalie.

  • BERNIE PARENT???

  • I think the video producer did not put the greatest shots of Hasek. I assume the reason for that is to show why Roy deserves the #1 spot

  • not to be biased here but i think roy is the best because i grew up watching him. and hasek is amazing.

  • Hasek is the best goalie of all time period. First of all he has the highest save percentage in NHL History. He won 2 Hart trophies as MVP (Broduer and Roy had 0), and 6 Veznias in 8 years (94,95,97,98,99,2001) not to mention that during this time Roy and Brodeur had 0. Interesting if they are conisdered the best of all time how come they werent considered the best goalie in any of those seasons? Hasek was better than them in all of those seasons according to GM's who votes on the Vezina.

  • @sabrefan14 Even as a Wings fan I happen to love Roy, but I agree with you, Hasek is the greatest goalie. I don't know if Patrick Roy would be better than Terry Sawchuk if either wore the other's equipment, all I can say is take a look at Dominik Hasek. Good fucking lord, that man can play.

  • Tommy Salo should make it on the list

  • I'm a Detroit fan, and as much as I hate him, Roy is ( arguably ) the best goalie ever in the NHL. Some could argue Sawchuck, Brodeur... but I have no real argument with Roy being number one - aside from the fact that he's a jerk. :P Take a look at his numbers vs. Brodeur's sometime, though... ;)

  • Roy isn't that good Hasek should be #1

  • @cheatman99

Lol@Roy isn't that good. Roy is without a doubt one of the greatest goalies of all time. He was in a league of his own in his best years and a true pioneer in goaltending. You can certainly make the argument that he's the greatest goalie ever.

Still, I agree that Hasek is the greatest and Roy is 2nd. But it's very close.

  • wow what planet you guys on

  • theres a reason he why was good. he had pads that were red on the outside and white on the inside this means that players would shoot for his five hole and think theres a hole but really it was his pads that and the red would be the post and they would think the outside is the post. its just illussions in hockey

  • Patrick Roy always played in a very strong team he never played in weak teams unlike Hasek did. Roy also played many seasons with over-sized pads and that's a cruel fact.

  • If roy is that good why did he let through 9 goals on like 20 shots hasek will be the greatest and how the hell did tony O not place

  • @Slushyyy639

I know the Red Wings won 9-1 in the 90's against Montreal & Roy.

After that game Roy demanded to be traded and said that he'd played his last game for Montreal

  • @cheatman99

    it was 11-1.

  • @selinon

still they had a huge blowout

  • 5:56 Ouch

  • esposito should make it on there.. somewhere towards the bottom

  • Sorry, I am from Czech Republic and I must say that Patrock Roy is better than Hasek, Roy is best Hockey Goalie forever.

  • honestly i believe that HASEK deserver 1st place the most of all theese goaltenders....certainly much more than patrick roy. he was a great goalie no question about that.but HASEK was special and the greatest one !

  • Agreed, Roy is the best, hands down. And Ryan Miller? Is that a serious suggestion? Maybe after 18 years we'll see. Until then, shut the fuck up

  • where the yell is ryan miller that guy desroyes and fleury should have been at least an honorable mention

  • @xx24carfan4xx Jesus christ would you shut up you fucking homer. You have to have the lowest IQ of any hockey fan.

  • sorry but hasek is not better than roy you must know nothing about hockey if you think that, hasek rated too high on this list, brodeur should be top 5 at least. hasek is not better than hall, or sawchuk were. luongo number 1, what a joke hahaha

  • loungo should be number #1

  • Luongo, he needs to be in the show!! As number 1!! Also look at 5:57

  • how many stanley cups does luongo have?? conn smyth??

  • Only honorable mention for Billy Smith? Give me a break. He belongs no lower than third. As for the goalies who played more recenlty, put them in the smaller pads where they don't cover as much of the net with the additional bulk, and those goalies aren't nearly as good.

  • hasek worse than broduer, broduer should be 3rd, behind sawchuck and uhh, someone

  • Honestly...how the fuck did they play with out a mask....damn look at that equipment...shit

  • oh right, lemieux hit him, lemieux used 2 be on devils :). Yeahh, Go broduer. Go Devils.

I play hybrid goalie and play like Roy

  • how can they justify Cujo not being on this list? not even as an honorable mention??????

  • 6'20"-6'27" hahahaha

  • I know Ken Dryden's Nephew..... His name is John Dryden Dalbey. We talk everyday at school!

  • wheres furh?? he was a great goalie they dont even rank him 10th

  • ya but they dont number him dum ass

  • i like marty even more for banging his sister in law

  • Comment removed

  • oh please stop, you're going to make me cry. Brodeur doesn't get a salary to be faithful to his wife, he gets paid to be a hockey player so judge him on that and dry your tears about whatever else

  • your an idiot, he'll make the hall of fame 1st year of eligibility. he is one of the greatest goaltenders EVER!!

  • I got to see Hasek's last game in person. (Game 4 of the 2008 Western Conference quarterfinals). It was a really down time for Hasek and it was obvious his NHL career was coming to an end.

  • why is everyone sucking dominak hasek's dick? he was good no doubt but not the best.

  • BULLSHIT he is awesome!!

  • joyfulvulture, Roy isnt as good as Broaduer, Dyden, or Hasek, he just gets cheap hits on people as they fight 1 on 1, and he got owned by Osgood in a fight, and Roys extremly big compared to Ozzy, and Ozzy still beat him

  • Last time i checked you didn't decide the best overall goalie of all time by measuring their fighting skills.

Roy is #1 hands down imo, I might be a little bit biased since he was my inspiration and role model as a goaltender when I was playing the game.

  • Eight times better? The hockey hall of fame chose Roy at place 22 in their "top 100 NHL players of all time"

That would mean Broduer will be ~#3 when he gets there? I don't think so.

  • Roy is number #1 no matter what we can say, i'm not a HUGE fan of Roy, but we gotta give him what he deserves!

Hasek #2 , my favorite goalie, he just own with the Sabres

Tretiak should be #3. He is the best russian goalie, and he is the teacher of the greatest goalie today like Luongo and Kipprusoff

Belfour shouldn't be there i think, but he is still a great goalie in the late eighties

And the Great Forgotten in this list is

Mike Richter of course!!!! He just owns in early ninetys

  • Roy isnt that good, maybe #5. And the old goalies, they only won the veniza because of flat sticks and a low level of competion. #3 Dryden, #2 Broduer #1 Hasek

  • "Roy isnt that good, maybe #5"

says a guy who happens to be a detroit fan. you're nothing more than a biased idiot who lets his childish fanboy emotions cloud his thinking. your opinion is worthless.

  • @joyfulvulture even tho he is a sworn enemy to me since im a red wings fan hes beaten the majority of records and if he was on a better team he prolly woulda had all of them he deserves the first seat

  • Roy is good I mean really good! But he still eats the Dominators dust!

    DOMINIK HASEK IS THE BEST!

  • haha hes so funny with the matrix comment!

  • Cannot beat Roy you idiots!!!

  • I think THE DOMINATOR IS BETTER THEN ROY

    HASEK IS THE GREATEST

  • @tr0247 mike vernon had better stats and that makes him better

  • "A couple years later the matrix came out and copied some of the moves"

    LOL

  • Shanny is great

  • thats bs hasek was way better than roy

  • stfu idiot, you know very well what the result of a poll would be: 90% roy, 10% hasek or something...

i'd bet a 100$ that you're just some bitter red wings cheerleader.

  • And you're probably a bitter avalanche fan. how have you guys been doing since roy left?

  • nope, i couldnt care less about the avs.

  • I think Brodeur is ranked a little low (even thoug his team is very defensive based) He just got the most wins by a goalie ever and hes about to break Terry sawchucks shutout record

  • yeah thats what i said!

  • now way it would be 50% hasek, 50% roy

  • Luongo is awesome, but its just too much of a competitive league today. There are so many great Goalies. In any other era Luongo's work ethnic would have earned him more honors.

  • haha thats right Roy should be number1 Luongo doesnt have as many cups duh......and what records does he have???

  • terry sawchuk should be number one

  • wheres Luongo?

  • why just cause he has the most carreer wins

  • And hes about to break terry sawchucks shutout record, but u can argue that hes not the best because he plays on a very defensive based team

  • where is mike richter

  • No Tetiak and Brodeur should have been a little higher but I do agree with Roy as #1. No list is perfect, but tis one is'nt too far off.

  • gayass espn what a joke puttting belfour in the top 10

  • this isnt a 13 yr doing it its TV thatmeans ther isnt anything to argue hasek isnt better and who evented the butterfly style which hasek uses god damn red wing lovers wont get ther heads out ther asses to relize it

  • Hasek was not a butterfly goalie. He had his own style.

  • hasek is the best ever.

2 reasons roy is not the best:

    1. after hasek and brodeur became starters (in '94), roy was almost always behind BOTH of them in vezina voting.

    2. in roy's 4 cup winning playoffs, he beat a team with more wins than his team only 1 time of 16 series. he also had many playoff flops where his team was upset or blew a series lead.

roy also started the era of giant equipment.

roy is the 2nd best goalie i've ever seen, though.

  • I completely agree, Hasek has more talent his only problem is he went a little to long in his career b4 retiring. Best ever

  • If hasek had more talent he would have more wins then patrick roy. He would also be number one in this video. Only patrick roy has the right to be called number 1

  • wins are a team accomplishment.

chelios recently set the record for wins (881), but that doesn't make him better than lemieux.

belfour has more wins than sawchuk. that doesn't mean he's a better goalie.

when brodeur passes roy in wins, roy will still have been better.

after hasek became a starter, roy won 0 vezinas.

  • u are 100% correct!

  • thats a lie roy had such small pads and went up against harder people. he was the only player to win 3 conn symthes and so what if his team gets upset that does not mean it was roy's fault

  • pads were small until roy started the trend to huge pads and jerseys.

G was a weak position during the first 1/2 of roy's career. vezina finalists:

86: beezer, froese, fuhr. '87: hextall, liut, fuhr. '88: fuhr, barrasso, hrudey. '89: roy, vernon, mclean. '90: roy, puppa, moog. '91: belfour, roy, richter. '92: roy, mclean, essensa.

roy beat puppa, moog, essensa, vernon and mclean to win his 3 vezinas.

  • roy also posted a 1.94 gaa in his first playoff run WITH small pads. imagine how great it would be if he had the pads they wore today. besideds goalies like brodeur and hasek wore big pads their entire career

  • bor ,brodeur, and hasek wore the smallest pads in the NHL!

  • McLean should have won in '89, the Canucks were a terrible team that year

  • 1.Brodeur

    2.Sawcheck

    3.Roy

    4.Osgood

    5.Hasek

  • Learn how to spell Sawchuk and Osgood better than Hasek? You must share that crack with the entire community, PLEASE.

  • 1. Roy 2. Sawchuk 3. Brodeur

  • i agree

  • Roy Vs Hasek In my opinion Hasek is the better goalie. Roy always had a good team in front of him Im not saying hes overrated but I think Hasek is better. Lets take it back to the 98/99 cup run of the Buffalo Sabres Hasek single handedly took them to the cup and almost won it. Thoses years the Sabres had several noname players and Hasek is the reason why they were so good.

  • Patrick Roy had 10 straight playoff overtime wins, won the Stanley Cup and won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1993, if thats not carrying your team then i dont what is

  • know**

  • @dt089 brodeur had a GOOD TEAM

  • just because roy is canadian!

hasel is a better person and even more a much better goalie!

  • lol

  • Patrick Roy was the best goalie that i think montreal had ever had(until they traded him to the avalanch :{ oh well)and hasek isnt as good at Luongo or Martin Broduer and you spelt Hasek wroung...(you typed Hasel or Hasek)But Hasek is ok i guess.Patrick Roy is idk ok but he is not worse than Hasek.JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THERE IS NOTHING AGAINST YOU.just saying stating my opinion
