Everyone trying to be all noble about the band or blaming judges gets annoying. Band members have gotten lazier at Houston. The difference between my Sophomore year (2006; we beat Munford twice) and Senior year (2008; we came in 3rd at bandmasters) was fairly significant and quite disheartening. Everything seemed to become less intense and it seemed that people stopped caring after my Junior year. People need to learn to work hard, which is hard to teach to the majority of Germantownians.

Don't go into the band room and see all the trophies on the wall and talk about the achievements of bands 4,5 ,6, or ten years ago. The only thing you can say about that is I'm in a band that has done some pretty impressive things before i was here. question is what legacy are you going to leave the oh we lost because of the judges or the we were so damn good that we were the clear winners. I'm done with my rant now after 3 post's worth

I was in the band that won it for the first time and we worked very very hard that year. Don't lose respect for what those past have earned and respect it by realizing you have to work just as hard to receive the same winnings or even harder because now people are coming for you. Finally, to discredit Munfords hard work by saying that they have the judges is ludicrous. They work very hard. Don't live and talk about what others have done. sounds like to me you are getting a little cocky. Ive seen Houston shows since 1998. Ive been to more Vanderbilt competitions were Houston hasn't finished in the top five and those shows were amazing, yes we (yes Im a Houston graduate and you can probably figure out who i am) Houston has one it now several years in a row but dont lose respect for those before you who saw it as a big achievement by saying "oh its ours" and assuming you will win it for showing up.

Let's face it guy's....we wouldn't win again even if we did perfect...the highest we can get is second...Munford has the favor of the judges ....bandmastors to them is wat vanderbilt is to us....I just wish Munford would come meet us In Vanderbilt. They know they would loose....that's OUR house.

We don't place all our emphasis on pleasing the judges. We just take pride in doing fun shows more than others.

A generic show just wouldn't be our style.

well i am from Hustonband and I am vary happy with are show this year.you guys don't know how hard we worked on it. The only rezone we didn't get 2nd or 3rd is because one of the judges didnt like the show. so we hade all 2s and one vary bad score from one jug witch put us in 4 are over all was a 86.and something.but next year we will get 2nd,but 1st would be nice. ^_^ and yes we do have a lot props but that is what we do.

Part of it's probably the stadium. The concrete reflects all the sound right back to you, the place is a freakin sound trap. Echoes usually throw people off.

echoe can also make your music have more effect at certain parts though so it all balances out.

Collierville has always had a good show from what I can remember. They recently lost their director, so I think that situation speaks for itself.

yeah. they're directing is now with us at arlington high and has been for almost three years and counting. we all love him so much. he is a great director
