Yes, the movie bears little relation to the story and the story is a lot creepier, but it's still a damn good movie nevertheless IMHO.

yeah, I feel the same way about the film adaptation of "The Shadow over Innsmoth", "Dagon". It's hard to capture the essence of Mr. Lovecraft's writing in film. His first person perspective isn't really suited for the big screen like the word worlds of Tolkien or Lewis. Still, these movies are highly entertaining and well worth watching... And long live the fucking Wizard, man.

This movie SUCKED!! Read the short story, this movie shows NOTHING of the sick evil that really that was the Dunwich Horror. There was no blonde chick in the story? Wilbur was like 9 feet tall like a diseased mix between satyr/demon/dinosaur and his half brother was more then a "Car Wash Spinner"

finally ended up checking this flick out during the weekend and i really liked it a lot. great atmosphere and really enjoyable dialogue. only bad part is that it dragged a bit during the end and the "special effects" were lacking.

got a few more lovecraft and poe inspired films to check out soon enough aswell.

I love Electric Wizard and I love HP Lovecraft. Having said that, this movie is fucking awful. It barely follows the actual Dunwich Horror story, there was no Sandra Dee, no love story, and there didn't need to be. Lovecraft was a genius at crafting fear-making, pants-pissing horror literature that didn't need some virginal blond idiot getting killed by her demonic bf. Seriously...go read the story, listen to EW, smoke lots of weed, repeat.
