ah good old star 80 he is an amazing talent brings back a lot of memories
but as one of his old grunts of a lineman we always had to make the space for him to star and what happend to legs and the other cheerleaders where is there video?
yeah righto you need to unleash some more vison of the Centurions when they clicked, It was an awesome sight. I still remember the plays....silver 10......gap right
eyy bro i put another vid up of wen i went to the down under bowl in 08 so if ya get time have a suss. im puttin up two more. one of another dude in the Outback team and another of the SA grandfinal. i think ull like em mate.
good clips couldnt tell wut happend in half of them i admite there was or is talent over there i would tell more of my opinion but i cant tell wuts going on some are to pixlated but good vid
Lincoln wasn't that good, he never wanted to get dirty or mess his hair ;) plus, the only thing he ever called was 'BLUE 80! BLUE 80!' ..drove me insane ;) Its a pity you broke your arm.....from memory it was twice by the last time I played.
Nice to see you added to clip after the last time I saw you play it - I'm in it now ;)
hehe Lyndon is a very beautiful man lol Having to go to sleep each night with visions of a blue jersey with #80 emblazoned on it certainly fixated the poor chap lol And yes, it was a pity i broke that damn arm....twice :( I'm very happy and thankful you scored a spot in Star80 Rox Dave ;)
Im not going to question your ability mate even in 2008 you could burn a DB or 2! Coaching..now there is something that while not quite the same can be done by distance;) in todays net savy world! Ive been playing since 94, it would be interesting to see how many others from the last 14 yrs are still playing now or involved in the game in some way. I smell and GQ BBQ event lol!
Great video from back in the day mate. I was a Charger. I've been trying to remember the old jerseys. I've got the bulldogs silver and black scarred in my mind forever.....
subscribe to my videos to see some of the modern action, GO THE BEARS!
Im putting up last years highlight vids today..they are pretty cool. Being old school, do you think the league was tougher back then compared to now? I think so, but i'm biased. Young pups like Mooney might say different though...
To be honest i haven't seen a huge amount of games recently and it's hard from watching youtube footage to really get a feel for the intensity etc. I've had this discussion with a few guys that were and are still involved in the league and the concensus seems to be that the overall quality was definitely better 10+ years ago.
I personally thought that the 94 season was the last really good quality season in the Qld comp. By 96/ 97 the quality was waning. I remember as a 31 year old beat up tired receiver in my last season in 97 when i was training once a week, not lifting and trying to juggle 3 kids scoring 80 yard touchdowns and thinking "i shouldn't be able to do this".
mate, from what i've seen from your video, and the charger games v the centurians which i've seen you were a machine...pace to burn...Did the centurians have many imports? Thats a big difference with todays footy, very few americans.
We got our first import in '93..an offensive lineman - a really nice guy but frankly wasn't significantly better than our home-grown guys on the field and didn't really add that much to our coaching program. Our next and last import was in '94...a D lineman who was not a really nice guy and contributed very little when playing and even less at training...i wanted him gone after his first game lol
Pete (my bro) copped a fair bit of negativity for importing lineman but his philosophy was that it was the line where the league needed improvement and experienced input. I pretty much agreed with the philosophy but unfortunately the guys we got just didn't really turn out that helpful :(
By being old school Dbb means he hasnt stepped on the field since 98! lol I think the quality of local players across the comp has improved alot whether or not it is any more intense is question you would have to answer yourself by having a run. But seriously having the influence at training and on game day by the imported players certainly made a diffence!
I agree Chris..it's pretty hard to gauge the quality unless i'm out there getting in and mixing it with you guys. I wish i could. Physically i'm probably capable of playing at least every second game out on the flanks and i can still burn a lot of guys half my age...but geographically it's just not an option i'm afraid. The reality is i'd probably play one game...realise my body is a broken down old 'machine'... and stick to coaching lol
Hi Justin;) yeah thats was the game, I knew it was a rib injury..ouch! Good 'ol Charger boys, was a shame to see them fold, there is still about 10 Chargers still playing in the comp now with 5 at the Bears alone!
I still remember a game Centurians V Chargers at S'coast in 96. I was at DT and heard you say to Pete at centre."Sneak" Next I heard a massive crack and saw the WLB standing over you..game over. Thankfully, you had already racked up enough yards in that game! I dont remember the score just that we won on the way to Chargers only Sunbowl win!
If by game over you actually mean that the game ended prematurely, then that would have been the game after i broke my ribs against the Cougars - kinda sucked being our only choice for QB that season lol
I do need to come back and play, but the 4 1/2 hour drive to practice kinda makes it a bit tricky lol. And you're right, i still got it...just a little diminished by age ;)
Some of those runs were reggie bush style haha. how many years was that video including and id like 2 know wat years they were in. also near the end about 9 mins in there was a massive crowd watching, was that in australia?
Video spans the years 1988 - 1996. It's a 'best of' of a 90 minute DVD. The big crowd of 30,000+ was at Lang Park, Brisbane in 1990...an exhibition game prior to a Broncos/ Bulldogs Rugby League game. That was massive :)
Hey man cool vid whats the name of the song tho?
