You forgot the part in the intro where it says, "War has been spilled in the name of everything from..." So whatever war is being fought about here and now has been fought for in the past. This intro is referring to the WAY war is fought. But war itself never changes.

To those who think this is a response to Fallout Its not. In Fallout. The world was almost destroyed through human battles and war. In MGS4, Its not the humans who are necessarily warring. I like mgs 4, but it was a let down, i could say because the fan catering, or the shaky plot, the ridiculous way they used riaden and naomi, but really the reason was it didn't feel like metal gear anymore, it felt like gears of war with a stealth element. All in all it was their story they told it and i enjoyed it, but the feel of the last game, just lost out a bit.
I could have gotten over the shift og gameplay. One formula cannot last forever, but dear me, this is hypocritical coming from a person who despises abrupt or impossible alteration in most great things.
The statement that war never changes doesn't mean we don't use new tactics, new weapons, it means we never change our reasons, and we never change our killing, killing is war, and war never changes.
The whole saying about "War has changed" I think what there refering to is that its not about land or religion as in the old days or a terroist attacks which happens in the more recent days, but now hes talking about how its all controlled how the situation is a bit more complicated then it use to be, its more then just killing the rival side but stopping the whole process. I honestly think its really refering to the previous MGS games not so much the Iraq war.
In think so... since even when wars are always fought for political and economical reasons. This time, war was not about the people, but just part of the IA`s economy of war... They were just puppets... is sad than Zero`s dream became in the end just a jouney of the IAs to get more money for whatever means nescesary.

You also have to think how Kojima planned this series? He planned both AHEAD, and from Japan, and yet nearly the entire series takes place between America and Russia.
The FIRST Metal Gear SOLID took place in 2005, despite being made in 1998. Metal Gear Solid 2 took place in 2007-2009, while still being released in 2001 in Japan. Metal Gear Solid 4 was in the making after MGS3 and takes place in 2014, while being released in 2008.
The MGS universe gets the excuse of being so far flung...
...into the future from the point in time in which the player him or herself picks up the controller of Solid Snake that these kinds of things exist. Its kind of like Watchmen, where in an alternate universe where Vietnam was won and most likely with the lack of certain wars we've fought to this day and Doctor Manhattan's scientific accomplishments, the world of the 1980s is, in a sense, FAR more futuristic than it ought to be.
The first two MGs were 199x and released in 1987-1990.

No game will be able to beat this game. Yeah there will be bad ass games like Call of Duty 4 or Modern Warfare 2, but none of them will ever beat this game. This is truly the number one game in the world as well as the number one series in the world. No doubt about it. MGS forever.

MGS has the best video game story line of all time. And the game play is very enjoyable even if you beat the game for the 10th time. After MGS comes Halo in terms of story line.

Halo 2 and 3 had a some pretty big holes in their plot. Especially the Halo 3.
But I guess the average gamer didn't buy those games for the storyline but for the multiplayer, which is among the best.

War is a series of battles leading towards a conclusion in other words a country or a series of allies winning. Battle is a small amount of time when forces fight againts each other. I like mgs 4, but it was a let down, i could say because the fan catering, or the shaky plot, the ridiculous way they used riaden and naomi, but really the reason was it didn't feel like metal gear anymore, it felt like gears of war with a stealth element. All in all it was their story they told it and i enjoyed it, but the feel of the last game, just lost out a bit.

The whole saying about "War has changed" I think what there refering to is that its not about land or religion as in the old days or a terroist attacks which happens in the more recent days, but now hes talking about how its all controlled how the situation is a bit more complicated then it use to be, its more then just killing the rival side but stopping the whole process. I honestly think its really refering to the previous MGS games not so much the Iraq war.

They were just puppets... is sad than Zero`s dream became in the end just a jouney of the IAs to get more money for whatever means nescesary.

You also have to think how Kojima planned this series? He planned both AHEAD, and from Japan, and yet nearly the entire series takes place between America and Russia.
The FIRST Metal Gear SOLID took place in 2005, despite being made in 1998. Metal Gear Solid 2 took place in 2007-2009, while still being released in 2001 in Japan. Metal Gear Solid 4 was in the making after MGS3 and takes place in 2014, while being released in 2008.
The MGS universe gets the excuse of being so far flung...

The first two MGs were 199x and released in 1987-1990.
