ive always wanted rto be able to watch tv wothout needing to move my rabbit ears now i can thanks to digital but thankfully i have comcast they told me certian states are still analog and thats why my tv stopped working for an hour cause comcast was switching the channels to digital and this was like in december of 2009
in north carolina, sometimes when they have those"public access" channels, you can still get those channels(sometimes) on an analog tv, so analog isnt completeley dead!!
I remember when the telephone system went all digital. It used to have a certian depth and charm about it. Certian cities had distinct rings, busys and carrier sounds. It lost all of it's personality the day they brought in the digital.
The same with OTA analog TV. Ghosts, snow, rolling and jumping when someone ran a blender... It did serve us well all those years!
... so sad .. i used to love falling asleep to the sign off's and found them to be patriotic ... i can't help but give analog tv some human qualities to it ... it wasn't perfect and was fuzzy just like like my head would be waking up in the middle of the night with a hangover ... bye analog tv! ...
It might be now difficult to rip off shows from digital TV, since they might now have the digital watermarking codes that prevent the copying of movies, shows, and whatnot.
Big Gov't + Business = I'm heading to the wilderness with a bag and a rifle, and call it quits for today's society.
(@syanarasucka) The snow will be gone if you have cable, satellite, or watch over-the-air TV with an analog to digital converter box or with a digital TV. Otherwise, all you will see is snow on all channels once they shut off their analog signals.
Priceless moment on your PBS affiliate WMFE originally shutting off but then brought back on for about 25 sec. before it fuzzed for good. Kind of like a "NOT YET!" or a "Hey, I wasn't ready!" moment there. From observing WVEN's feed, I guess all Univision O&O's will just cut off with no tributes or disclaimers when their analogs become extinguished. WYCC-20-PBS in Chicago just cut theirs off last week at 6am - just like WVEN. Thanks a million for taping this historic moment. A 5 star video!
Dude! Digital TV is great if you have the right antenna for indoor use. If you are using a coat hanger for an antenna then yes, it is bad. Try an MECS flat panel antenna. You not only will get great pictures after June, you will get several sub channels from each station. Just take a look at my video. Of course each antenna has a hidden mind control device in it. Watch my video and join us.
it's the stupid set the cable company swore at because it took RF interference from other sets. Notice that they all have to be 20-30 year old sets to avoid the blue screen muting when they leave the air...nothing after the 90s witl do that.
it makes me think of a new movie concept, one where everyone has thrown away their analogue tvs and aliens attack, they take out the digital transmission somehow and all the people that have digital tvs die because they dont get the message about the aliens, but all the people with analogue tvs live because they find the alines kryptonite...
Dude...all you would have to do is run a jammer. Analog fails gracefully (snow) while digital dies instantly when no zeros or ones can be discerned in a usable pattern. You would expext this to be the piracy of the coming age but DTV doesn't figure to allow capture as far as I know, only destruction of the DTV signal.
That's awesome, that you had 3 different TV's set up for this! And the top left one actually played the national anthem one last time? Wish I could have been there. I'm in San Diego, where 4 channels shut off their analog, but I only had 1 antenna TV so I only got to watch one of them go off.
whats the show at the bottom at 0:01? I recognize the font of the credits, but i forgot what it is

The DTV transition shouldn't be mandatory. I like DTV, my household is ready, but there should be freedom of choice to view analog.

@E1ectrotherapy There are many conspiracy theories regarding RFID, people will be rioting in the streets before RFID is mandatory.
