T-Pains auto tube doesn't automatically tune his voice in the right key because he can actually sing, what he technically uses now is just an effect With the same sound as "auto-tune" ....I fuckin hate t pain tho lmao

t-pain hardly used autotune on his first album and then he followed up w/ a no autotune "Back At It" mixtape where he rapped. those are my favorite things he's done. so yes, he can make good music w/out autotune. HITS? that's a different animal. t-pain is a great SOULFUL RnB singer, but he isn't very "pop-y" or radio friendly in his natural voice. i think he needs autotune to make hits, but i think he should go back to not using it on non singles like early in his career

I rather T-Pain grow out of the auto tune but he has made his name with it so I tolerate him and only him using it. Jay was right, too many people were trying to do it just because T-Pain got famous. Now that the auto tune craze has died down, the true king of auto tune, T-Pain, is the only one that should use it.

death of autotune did not end t pain. by that time jay z was irrelevant coming out of retirement for the 100th time like brett favre and he dropped that record to capitalize on t pain's autotune movement. i personally did not like t pain's later work because instead of trying to sing with autotune like in "im sprung" he was screaming and shouting on tracks.

@JUMPOFF To answer the title. He doesn't use auto-tune, he uses the "T-pain effect" which doesn't have the same sound as Auto tune. Check out his interview on The Breakfast Club, he explains it.
