  • I'm glad I cought this show on PBS. I'm Icelandic and my wife is Cantonese, living in Amerca. We have 2 daughters, 1 in elementary, 1 in middle school. I regret that in the past, we have focused totally on English. Without learning the languages of their heritage, the richness of both cultures will be closed to them. I also feel challenged to take it upon myself to learn more languages. We are citizens of the World, not just America!

  • I wish I could see this film!

  • Please tell me when it will be out so I can buy this and share it with my college students!!

  • Young people in many developed countries know more than one language and are able to travel to other countries during their summer breaks. Too bad the U.S. does not feel speaking more than one language is important for our students.

  • when will you be in Los Angeles? This looks amazing! I'm a Ph.D. candidate in Education at UCLA. There would be a lot of us who would love to check this out!

  • I'm anxious to see this film, but I'm not sure how or when.

When will this be available nation wide?

  • I wish schools would teach other languages as the public school my child goes to does not offer any second languages.

When I heard what Obama said about worrying whether or not I can speak Spanish, I was totally disgusted by that, amongst other things he's said but that's another story! Anyway, I would be happy to see this film, it looks very good. Thanks.

  • I think knowing multiple languages is good however, I thnk those laws were not banning other languages but making an official language for the state... almost every country has an official language, some have two. germans speak german japan speaks japanese... This isn't to say people don't or can't speak other languages but for legal documents and court cases and road signs having a singal language for that stuff saves millions or dollars and lives.

  • is that really necessary? We already have legal documents and signs in English.

  • Looks good Marcia and Ken! I hope to catch you at the SFIFF.
