hey can you show me in the beginning part in the video there are the cars which pulls the plane back can you show me the download link? i got X plane and they donthave it there
@TheMarkus182 If I'm not mistaken, they are no longer available at this time :-( Someone may pick up the project again soon when XP v.10 is released. However, if I'm mistaken and it is available, someone out there reading this will lead you in the right direction. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help. But hang in there...
@alikescorch62 Everything you see is from X-Plane v.9. Many of the elements you see come with XP but some of them you will have to download from the XP site, some are third party add ons, etc. Most of what you're looking at is freeware! Not until recently are people creating very complicated, extremely well designed aircraft and they charging a reasonable fee. BUT, everything you see in the film to the best of my recollection is freeware. more information at "x-plane.com"
@newyork68100 The best I can do is to tell you to go to the X-Plane.org site and do a search there. That's where I originally got it. I assume it's still there but I don't believe it's been updated so it will depend on which version XP you're running. I hope that helps... :-) If I come across anything else, I'll be back in touch. Good luck.
@newyork68100 NewYork68110 is right on the money!!! I just verified in my virtual hanger. I had it under "Vintage Commercial Prop Planes."
This past summer, at the Sun N' Fun AIr Show in Lakeland, Florida, I got to climb aboard the real deal. Luckily it was not one of the 40 planes damaged when the tornado went through the Air Show the day after I was there.
speedx50 is absolutely correct! If you check it out frame by frame, you will see the birds on the runway and as the plane approaches, you will see them take flight. Some get out of the way in time and some obviously don't. And the sim will randomly take out various instruments, engines, etc. So you never know what a bird strike may do or not do. And I have to say on occasion, it does scare the crap out of you when it comes out of nowhere. Thanks, speedx50! and thanks for the comment.

@Argonaut64Studios Finally stopped laughing :-). I'm not certain which helicopter you're referring to specifically, but it doesn't matter, a funny line is a funny line. But I am always amazed after all the hard work I put into a project, people manage to find one single (in their opinion) negative thing and point that out and not mention anything positive. That's life! All the audio in X-Plane is actually live audio so I guess you have a very realistic "copter" cough. Thanks for the comment.
I think this video is absolutely amazing, the effort you put into it exceeds much of some FSX film devs
It's just that I do seem to see a few nags with Xplane which could be easily fixed to make it even better, so sadly thats why Xplane (In my opinion) is overshadowed by the FS series, even though some elements of realism exceed FSX and some do not. Keep up the good work! :)
@Anmil8 You can do so many things that it would be too many to list here. Engine(s), flaps, gears, oil pressure, hydraulics, etc., etc. can all be set to fail at certain speeds, altitudes, pressing the space bar, etc. Yes, you can create havoc for the pilot!!!
@jomarceloco Its not a game, its a simulation that employs actual flight dynamics models in planes. In a sense, planes have to aerodynamic in order to fly. Its an interesting concept. Sadly its not that good. I own MSFS9 and FSX and both are still better than x-plane 9. The only thing inviting about x-plane is that it has a MAC version. Beyond that, there are no airports, no air traffic, poorly modeled ATC messages, virtually no virtual cockpits on the stock aircraft among other shortcomings.
@okturus I'll take exception to many of Jomarceloco's comments but we all have our opinion. X-Plane runs "full size, full motion" simulators at training facilities due to it's "blade element theory" in how it recreates aerodynamics. I'll leave the tech talk there. If you want a "good looking game," you may be happier with MSFX, if you want to learn and experience a more realistic sim and normally "don't fly your plane from the "outside" (which we don't in the real world) you may prefer XP.
@okturus Yeah, I tried the demo, and while the flight dynamics has potensial to be very realistic, they don't work good unless the visual model is extremely detailed. And that is not the case with the majority of planes in x-plane.:(
@jomarceloco If you're looking for a "game," this may not be for you. It's a pretty complex flight simulator but it is fun and you can learn a lot. Download the free trial and you can then decide whether you want to make the purchase.
@JHAAMYEESS Thanks! Sadly, the release has been delayed but Austin and the gang tell me it's so they can perfect it. It will truly be raising the sim world to the next level...
@kittubush If your expectation of a "realistic flight sim" is moving blades, FSX is your sim/game. I'm beyond defending XP as a FAA approved, flight training academy accepted sim controlling full motion flight simulators. FYI: XP has several planes, more coming everyday with blades and props that move, wings that bend, etc. All the "eye candy" kids like. However, in the real world of flight training, none of that means anything. Since when do you fly a plane from the outside in flight training?
@zaroff2277 These are all 3rd party add ons. Sadly, some of them are no longer being created. Keep in mind this video is about 3 years old. However, new add ons / plug ins are being created everyday. Go to the X-Plane . org site and you'll find many, many resources. And many are free though there are also many payware options. Have fun searching...
@flyingtrace Sorry I took so long to get back to you... I've actually been doing some work in "real planes!" If a plane has been designed with a 3D cockpit, it will usually allow you to move around in the 3D space. I'm on a Mac and to go into 3D mode, I hit the buttone combo of "command+o" once in 3D mode, the "page up" and "page down" button moves me back and forth. The arrows allow me to move right, left, up and down. I hope that helps, let me know...
@Lupineproductions Hey! Thanks so much for your help.. But over the month I switched to FS9 because X-plane wasent working. :( But thanks so much for trying to help me out :)
personally, i enjoy the fun (playability) of the rough modeling on xplane than the sacrafice of having smoother modeling like fsx. i dont know but my computer just is way friendlier to x plane. with the others i seem to get bugs all the time that cause flight intteruptions.
@dahondaguy I don't really like trash talking anyone or anything. I've said and will continue to say, there is room in the world for more than 1 sim. They both offer different features and needs to different people. I have my reasons for preferring XP. One of which is that I've been on the cutting edge of Apple and Mac for many, many years! I'm no spring chicken, I'm 52 years old. When I started in this "world" of graphics, editing, etc., PC's were still green letters on black backgrounds :-)
@ehemeyer25 Nothing, absolutely nothing video wise was edited in the video part! I state that in the credits. Everything you see is in X-Plane. I sweetened the audio because XP won't output audio so it all had to be created in post. I think what you're probably referring to is my use of, hopefully, clever lenses. There are many ways to alter the look of the visuals in XP when playing back the video. Go into the "rendering" settings and use a lower number to flatten the perspective. Explore!!!
I also dislike intensely the low poly count of these models, the flyable feature models ahev the same poly count as FSX' Ai models!! A well designed, well thought out sim but lacks that high quality 'glossy' finish that FSX has nearly perfected, it's unfortunate but I can not understand how people are missing this??
@wingnutzster No argument here, none whatsoever! Couldn't agree more! If eye candy is what one is after, FSX is your sim. But if flight dynamics, flight characteristics, blade element theory, etc., etc. is what concerns you as a serious aviator or aviation student, I'm truly sorry, there is no comparison, none whatsoever. NASA! Cirrus! Burt Ruttan! Scaled Composites! PFC in Sacramento, etc., etc! They all use FX to design, test and fly their planes. They don't care about matte or shiny doors.
I like Xplane's all round design and look, I like the features and usability, but it has to be said, and I can't understand how anyone could dispute this: FSX for all it's faults has a far better finish, the graphics are acutely better and more polished, (requiring more resources admittedly) - just have a look at FSX screen grabs v Xplane. At 1:40 look at the eurocopter detail - a big grey area where the open door should b. A more 'dull' or matte finish and inferior flight dynamics imo.

@chrisdorward It is one plane and it's been a while since I made this video. If you go to X-Plane.org and do a search for Blue Angels formation, you may come across it. I don't know if the person who designed it has updated it for the latest version and it also depends on which version you're running. Good luck!!!
@Aname78 Well then light up a cigarette and you'd better call me! Or just leave a twenty dollar bill on the nightstand! Either way, glad you liked it, uh, the video that is....
@lslmo2 You can buy it on line at several places. Just do a search for X-Plane and you'll be directed to the site. You can also try x-plane.org. And keep in mind, it's not a game per-se. It's an actual flight simulator used for training purposes. If you're looking to shoot down things and blow up things, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking to learn how to operate aircraft and navigation systems, etc., this is for you. Have fun!
@Maxables Oh, yeah! They tend to hang around the runways and you never know when they'll pop up. And they will shut down the engines. If you slow the video down or pause it just before the strike, you can see them on the runway. Enjoy!
@fbhjr68 As I said above: If you pause just before the bird strike and go frame by frame, you'll see the buggers flying just off the runway and WHAM!!!
@11weeee Did I sound more than "chilled?" I realize now that I have the word no with an exclamation point, the dork that I am. Did not mean it as a YELL or SHOUT. Just wrote it out wrong! If you look at my other replies, you'll see I'm not a shouter. So accept my apologies. And feel free to ask any questions, I PROMISE I WON'T YELL ANYMORE!!! :-)
@chris3992 The plane in question is the "Beech 18" and it is payware. You can find it at a website called "myvirtualhanger" There may be a free version of it at "x-plane" dot org. but this payware version is excellent. Thanks for the compliment on the vid!
@Tomdomification A little late getting back to you, Tom, sorry. Yeah, I couldn't agree more but boy, the arguments I get from people. Though I agree that if we could combine some of FSX with XP, we'd have the best sim, in my opinion, with respect to physics, aerodynamics, flight characteristics, etc., there is no comparison. And XP is getting better in the graphics department all the time. Enjoy...
@Mrmartinnico What does "way better" mean? Those of us who take flight sims seriously and actually fly "real planes" in the "real world" don't make blanket statements. Read my posts and you'll see that I give credit where credit is due, for both sims. Then again, I'm 52 years old and have a lot experience under my belt. Which is why I'm surprised why someone 32 years old would simply say "way better" with no explanation. It depends on if you're looking for a game or a proper flight simulator.
@helios375 If you mean a 3D cockpit by virtual cockpit, then hit "command" + the letter "o". That's on a MAC.
I would imagine on a PC, it would be the equivelant of the "command" button and the "letter."
Then you can move around the 3D cockpit by moving your mouse around. Zoom in and out with the plus or minus button, go up, down, right and left using the arrows and move back and forth by using the page up and down button. Good luck.
@biz3kid Unless someone else chimes in, at this time, I don't think the push back vehicle is available. The people who designed it couldn't keep the website going. Hopefully it will be back. You can check for it at x-plane.org. Sorry! I was sad to see it go as well. Keep in mind this film was made two years ago.
@jakestubbs0103 XP is on the complicated side, it's as close to flying a plane as you'll get. Your keyboard will work but it's not as realistic. You can always download the free demo and try it. You can buy it and use your keyboard and if you enjoy it, invest in a yoke or joystick and slowly build up your accessories. There are options in XP that will make it easier: You can start the sim with the planes already running, you can allow the sim to be much more tolerant of mistakes.
I love this application/game/whatever you call it. It's just that I think with current graphics cards, we can have MUCH better graphics than this. Look at the trees for instance.
@jeffhuys I'm not a programmer, but: Much of the "power" of the sim is focusing on creating the most realistic flight experience you can imagine. Stop and think about what's taking place in "real time" with all the "objects" and the computer having to "process" all the information. Now add the task of calculating each and every tree and leaf in 3D? Remember, this isn't a game, it's a sim. Things will get better but I don't know if the cards are there yet. Programmers, chime in if you wish...
@smarty5692 Are we talking about FSX? Let's not slam our flight sim brother, I'm always preaching that we XPlaners seem to rarely do that, don't make a liar out of me :-)
@smarty5692 Now there's a first! I don't think I've ever heard that :-) Usually everyone is complaining about how bad X-Plane looks. Though I myself have not used FS since it was DOS (a very long time ago) and sadly it's not available for Macs, I don't know how it flies but I can see it looks great. But it seems reborn agree, to each his or her own and room enough in the world for two sims! :-)
@kbvlogs11 You can download the demo on the X-Plane website, and try it out. You've gotta have a fairly powerful PC though. I recommend at least a dual core, 2GB RAM, and at least an NVidia 8800 or 9600 video card. It is $30 to buy, and the full install from the 6 dual layer DVDs is about 70GB, so you'll need a HD larger than that. I run it on a quad core (Q8400), 4GB RAM, and XFX 9600GT video card.
@12860682321 It's a piece of stock music and frankly, I can't seem to recall and can't find the file. It was a piece of music we owned from a music library. It's very disco!
If I'm not mistaken, It's a DeHavilland Beaver. I know DeHavilland makes a plane called the Otter also. Someone else may jump in and clear it up further but I'm pretty sure it's the Beaver. A fantastic plane. A workhorse.
@mrjoro1997 definetely a dhc-3 piston powered otter, pretty much a larger version of the dhc-2(or "beaver"). Some otters are now being turned over into turbo otters that have a turboprop engine. They both(dhc-3, dhc-2, turbo otter) are a very common sight up here in alaska, especially if you live on a seaplane base lake like me!
@rcsupercubbuilder So how do they fly in real life? Are they like flying a bus? I love the sound of those engines! A tough ol' workhorse I would imagine. I just flew a Cirrus 22 the other day, I have a feeling it's just a little different :-)
Thanks to one and all for all the help answering that question, much appreciated!!!
@Lupineproductions I wouldnt know how they would fly like because ive never flown in one but the engines sound great! especially at 2 am! I wouldnt exactly compare them to a bus... They are big though compared to the normal supercub or 185 up here. I heard from my dads pilot friends that they are true stol aircraft if you put the right pilot in the seat. They do carry quite a bit though.... I have only seen 3 take off from my neighberhood but seen tons of them at Lake hood. Pm me for more info
@thebeastpilot That certainly was not my intent. But I'll take the compliment. You may not want to see the next film :-) There's room enough in the world for two sims.
Im really confused could some1 help me . i've already brought fsx then i found out abbout x plane should i buy x plane or not. and another question , do all of these planes come with it.
hello sir, i just got a computer with a 2.33ghz quad core processor, and 6 gigs of ddr2 ram, and an nvidia 9500gt with 1 gig ddr2 vram, and x-plane runs slow, because it only uses 1 core.. why? thanks!
@supersaintsfan31 There are various reasons this could be. If you have every single feature turned on, this will no doubt take a hit on frame rate. Of if you have the distance setting too high, this will also effect frame rate. The best way to adjust is to go to the render options and turn features on one at a time and see how it affects speed and frame rate. The more realistic you want the sim to appear, the more number crunching it needs to do. Good luck, let me know how it goes...
@Lupineproductions alright ill try that, its just that it seems to run just as fast as my old 1.99 ghz dual core 2 gig ddr ram comp ran it, with the same settings.
:-) It is a bird strike! XP does have random bird strikes. If you pause the video just before the strikes, you will actually see them just off the runway. It will cause engine malfunction, failure, etc. It's random and you never know. AND, it does actually scare the crap out of you sometimes. Having come close in the real world once, I can say from experience, just like the real world! It's to say the least, startling! Thanks for your comment.
True. However, XP is a superior flight sim when it comes to flight dynamics & characteristics, blade element theory, airfoils, etc. NASA, the FAA, Cirrus & Honda Jets, and the list goes on seem to agree. If XP had the money FSX had behind it, oh wait, Microsoft bailed on FSX, sad but true. In a perfect world, a combination of the two would be the perfect sim. But you didn't comment on the quality of the vid? Editing, pacing, music, etc. Nonetheless, all comments are appreciated. Enjoy!
@Lupineproductions I still disagree with you. I was flying that flight sim at a friends house, it was all too fake feeling for me. And I didn't comment on the quality of the vid because it was "too good" It makes people think that you get camera shake in the "game" which is not true. And I don't understand what you are talknig about Microsoft "bailing" on FSX...
Yeah but I've noticed that a few of the Xplane videos look great graphically, and then some of them look downright horrible. I don't understand the descrepancy. Is it all about 3rd party payware? Is it all about buying a good environment or plane model from a 3rd party?
@robocong7420 Lots of reasons and you've touched on some of them. The render settings of the computer will dictate that as well. Some folks may nat have a powerful computer so they may have features of the sim turned down or off to keep frame rates up. They may not have their Quick Time Settings set properly. It just may be their inability to pick the proper angles or locations. Hard to tell. But there are some less than attractive videos out there. I've thought about creative a how to video...
Hey man I just ordered Xplane 9 a few minutes ago. Don't be surprised if I come back asking how to get some good looking planes and environments. I wish they would just freaking sell the game complete with fantastic looking planes and environment!
@robocong7420 Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I'll do my best to see if I can help you out and get questions answered. Welcome aboard.
Hey thanks. First question: I got xplane loaded and I found a fighter plane and loaded it. But i can't seem to figure out how to make its guns shoot. I have the trigger button of my controller programmed to "fire guns", yet when i pull the trigger, nada. Do I need to first arm the guns or something? Please advise.
@robocong7420 Several things to consider here. The first is: Yes, you do have to "arm" the guns as you would in a real plane. Remember, XP is not so much a game as it is a sim. That having been said, it depends on the particular plane and the designer. Some planes have guns in the plane but the person who designed the plane didn't bother to actually have guns in the plane. So remember to get planes from reputable designers. Hope that helps...
@iivaris Yes, thunderstorms are part of XP though not the default setting. You have to go to the "weather" setting and set the weather to "severe" and "precipitation," etc., etc., etc. You will see a map showing the weather in the area. Red cells are usually thunderstorms. If you don't see any in your area, just hit the "re-set" button and it will re-set the weather pattern. Or, just take off and fly into the red!!! Hope that's sufficient to get your started
@michealsuen I think if he were in a hover it would be seen, otherwise the downwash is probably a little behind the aircraft...if the view were from the front U should be able to C it.....
I'm not actually sure if this is a slam or a compliment so clarify and then I can respond accordingly - or - know up front that I'm way beyond having to defend substance over eye candy. I usually just say there's room in the world for more than one flight sim. If you like MSFSX and think it's better, why do you all feel such a passion to defend it. "He doth protest too much." We X-Planers are pretty comfortable right where we are. Along with NASA, CIrrus and the FAA. To each his own. Good luck.
@Lupineproductions - There's no comparison. X-Plane is superior to FSX. Like you said, NASA, the FAA, many aircraft manufacturers, and many airline companies agree with us on that.
Thanks very much for the comment. I'll be creating a new video for Laminar Research, the makers of X-Plane in the next few months. I have a lot of work to do to try and top this one. Once more, thanks!
Very nice. But what do the aeroplanes SOUND like? Sound is just as important as vision and you have included too much background music for me to be able to judge the simulation sound quality. Let the simulation do the talking please.
I don't think it can get much better than this, I'm surprised it hasn't got the number of views I'd expect so far; it guess it's the same as in music: real quality is only recognized by a small group of people ;)
Much appreciated! There is an earlier version of this that has over 20,000 hits. This is my second posting of it with the revised audio. Nonetheless, thanks for the comment.
that explaines it then! (should have figured such myself though)
I forgot to mention one thing: like no other video I have seen this one shows the versatility of X-Plane and it makes me feel proud I own a copy... however strange that may seem, but that's how I feel :)
No reason to feel strange. We XP owners have been fighting this battle for a long time and we have great pride. It's the David & Goliath story. We all know what we know and it's funny how we are more accepting of FSX than they are of us. The old expression "Doth protest too much" seems to apply. There is a reason NASA, Cirrus, Burt Ruttan at Scaled Composites and many others use XP to test their aircraft. FAA approval mean anything? Eye candy = FSX, flight realism = XP. But were catching up!
Hi, great vid and sound fx. Would you please let me know if the plane that shows up at 3:47 mark is the lockheed Electra II with the Varig colors? Thank you.
I love the realism in this sim. Even flying into a planes slipsteam is properly done. Hats off to you Laminar Research

@Anmil8 You can do so many things that it would be too many to list here. Engine(s), flaps, gears, oil pressure, hydraulics, etc., etc. can all be set to fail at certain speeds, altitudes, pressing the space bar, etc. Yes, you can create havoc for the pilot!!!

jomarceloco 10 months ago
@jomarceloco Its not a game, its a simulation that employs actual flight dynamics models in planes. In a sense, planes have to aerodynamic in order to fly. Its an interesting concept. Sadly its not that good. I own MSFS9 and FSX and both are still better than x-plane 9. The only thing inviting about x-plane is that it has a MAC version. Beyond that, there are no airports, no air traffic, poorly modeled ATC messages, virtually no virtual cockpits on the stock aircraft among other shortcomings.
okturus 9 months ago
@okturus I'll take exception to many of Jomarceloco's comments but we all have our opinion. X-Plane runs "full size, full motion" simulators at training facilities due to it's "blade element theory" in how it recreates aerodynamics. I'll leave the tech talk there. If you want a "good looking game," you may be happier with MSFX, if you want to learn and experience a more realistic sim and normally "don't fly your plane from the "outside" (which we don't in the real world) you may prefer XP.
Lupineproductions 9 months ago
@okturus Yeah, I tried the demo, and while the flight dynamics has potensial to be very realistic, they don't work good unless the visual model is extremely detailed. And that is not the case with the majority of planes in x-plane.:(
kristenburnout1 8 months ago
@jomarceloco If you're looking for a "game," this may not be for you. It's a pretty complex flight simulator but it is fun and you can learn a lot. Download the free trial and you can then decide whether you want to make the purchase.

In xplane the engine blades in airliners doesn't move. Fsx is much better.
kittubush 11 months ago
@kittubush If your expectation of a "realistic flight sim" is moving blades, FSX is your sim/game. I'm beyond defending XP as a FAA approved, flight training academy accepted sim controlling full motion flight simulators. FYI: XP has several planes, more coming everyday with blades and props that move, wings that bend, etc. All the "eye candy" kids like. However, in the real world of flight training, none of that means anything. Since when do you fly a plane from the outside in flight training?
Lupineproductions 11 months ago
how do you do all the airport things in xplane 9? the aircraft being pulled out, the loading of the plane etc.

Hello, great video! I was wondering how you moved forward around the 3d cockpit at 1:13 if you could please reply that would be wonderful.
flyingtrace 1 year ago
@flyingtrace Sorry I took so long to get back to you... I've actually been doing some work in "real planes!" If a plane has been designed with a 3D cockpit, it will usually allow you to move around in the 3D space. I'm on a Mac and to go into 3D mode, I hit the buttone combo of "command+o" once in 3D mode, the "page up" and "page down" button moves me back and forth. The arrows allow me to move right, left, up and down. I hope that helps, let me know...

When I started in this "world" of graphics, editing, etc., PC's were still green letters on black backgrounds :-)

ehemeyer25 1 year ago
@ehemeyer25 Nothing, absolutely nothing video wise was edited in the video part! I state that in the credits. Everything you see is in X-Plane. I sweetened the audio because XP won't output audio so it all had to be created in post. I think what you're probably referring to is my use of, hopefully, clever lenses. There are many ways to alter the look of the visuals in XP when playing back the video. Go into the "rendering" settings and use a lower number to flatten the perspective. Explore!!!

Lupineproductions 11 months ago
I also dislike intensely the low poly count of these models, the flyable feature models ahev the same poly count as FSX' Ai models!! A well designed, well thought out sim but lacks that high quality 'glossy' finish that FSX has nearly perfected, it's unfortunate but I can not understand how people are missing this??
wingnutzster 1 year ago
@wingnutzster No argument here, none whatsoever! Couldn't agree more! If eye candy is what one is after, FSX is your sim. But if flight dynamics, flight characteristics, blade element theory, etc., etc. is what concerns you as a serious aviator or aviation student, I'm truly sorry, there is no comparison, none whatsoever. NASA! Cirrus! Burt Ruttan! Scaled Composites! PFC in Sacramento, etc., etc! They all use FX to design, test and fly their planes. They don't care about matte or shiny doors.
Lupineproductions 11 months ago
I like Xplane's all round design and look, I like the features and usability, but it has to be said, and I can't understand how anyone could dispute this: FSX for all it's faults has a far better finish, the graphics are acutely better and more polished, (requiring more resources admittedly) - just have a look at FSX screen grabs v Xplane. At 1:40 look at the eurocopter detail - a big grey area where the open door should b. A more 'dull' or matte finish and inferior flight dynamics imo.

Tomdomification 1 year ago
@Tomdomification A little late getting back to you, Tom, sorry. Yeah, I couldn't agree more but boy, the arguments I get from people. Though I agree that if we could combine some of FSX with XP, we'd have the best sim, in my opinion, with respect to physics, aerodynamics, flight characteristics, etc., there is no comparison. And XP is getting better in the graphics department all the time. Enjoy...

@Lupineproductions wrong, FSX IS WAY BETTER
Mrmartinnico 11 months ago
@Mrmartinnico What does "way better" mean? Those of us who take flight sims seriously and actually fly "real planes" in the "real world" don't make blanket statements. Read my posts and you'll see that I give credit where credit is due, for both sims. Then again, I'm 52 years old and have a lot experience under my belt. Which is why I'm surprised why someone 32 years old would simply say "way better" with no explanation. It depends on if you're looking for a game or a proper flight simulator.

does anyone know how to get the virtual cockpit in xplane?
helios375 1 year ago
@helios375 If you mean a 3D cockpit by virtual cockpit, then hit "command" + the letter "o". That's on a MAC.
I would imagine on a PC, it would be the equivelant of the "command" button and the "letter."
Then you can move around the 3D cockpit by moving your mouse around. Zoom in and out with the plus or minus button, go up, down, right and left using the arrows and move back and forth by using the page up and down button. Good luck.

Is X-Plane hard to learn for the beginner? I only have a keyboard...
jakestubbs0103 1 year ago
@jakestubbs0103 XP is on the complicated side, it's as close to flying a plane as you'll get. Your keyboard will work but it's not as realistic. You can always download the free demo and try it. You can buy it and use your keyboard and if you enjoy it, invest in a yoke or joystick and slowly build up your accessories. There are options in XP that will make it easier: You can start the sim with the planes already running, you can allow the sim to be much more tolerant of mistakes.
Lupineproductions 1 year ago
I love this application/game/whatever you call it. It's just that I think with current graphics cards, we can have MUCH better graphics than this. Look at the trees for instance.
jeffhuys 1 year ago
@jeffhuys I'm not a programmer, but: Much of the "power" of the sim is focusing on creating the most realistic flight experience you can imagine. Stop and think about what's taking place in "real time" with all the "objects" and the computer having to "process" all the information. Now add the task of calculating each and every tree and leaf in 3D? Remember, this isn't a game, it's a sim. Things will get better but I don't know if the cards are there yet. Programmers, chime in if you wish...

I run it on a quad core (Q8400), 4GB RAM, and XFX 9600GT video card.

hello sir, i just got a computer with a 2.33ghz quad core processor, and 6 gigs of ddr2 ram, and an nvidia 9500gt with 1 gig ddr2 vram, and x-plane runs slow, because it only uses 1 core.. why? thanks!
supersaintsfan31 1 year ago
@supersaintsfan31 There are various reasons this could be. If you have every single feature turned on, this will no doubt take a hit on frame rate. Of if you have the distance setting too high, this will also effect frame rate. The best way to adjust is to go to the render options and turn features on one at a time and see how it affects speed and frame rate. The more realistic you want the sim to appear, the more number crunching it needs to do. Good luck, let me know how it goes...

:-) It is a bird strike! XP does have random bird strikes. If you pause the video just before the strikes, you will actually see them just off the runway. It will cause engine malfunction, failure, etc. It's random and you never know. AND, it does actually scare the crap out of you sometimes. 10blood 1 year ago
Enjoy!
Lupineproductions 1 year ago
@Lupineproductions I still disagree with you. I was flying that flight sim at a friends house, it was all too fake feeling for me. And I didn't comment on the quality of the vid because it was "too good" It makes people think that you get camera shake in the "game" which is not true. And I don't understand what you are talknig about Microsoft "bailing" on FSX...

Yeah but I've noticed that a few of the Xplane videos look great graphically, and then some of them look downright horrible. I don't understand the descrepancy. Is it all about 3rd party payware? Is it all about buying a good environment or plane model from a 3rd party?
robocong7420 1 year ago
@robocong7420 Lots of reasons and you've touched on some of them. The render settings of the computer will dictate that as well. Some folks may nat have a powerful computer so they may have features of the sim turned down or off to keep frame rates up. They may not have their Quick Time Settings set properly. It just may be their inability to pick the proper angles or locations. Hard to tell. But there are some less than attractive videos out there. I've thought about creative a how to video...

I have the trigger button of my controller programmed to "fire guns", yet when i pull the trigger, nada. Do I need to first arm the guns or something? Please advise.
robocong7420 1 year ago

"He doth protest too much." I forgot to mention one thing: like no other video I have seen this one shows the versatility of X-Plane and it makes me feel proud I own a copy... however strange that may seem, but that's how I feel :)

Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words. To the best of my recollection, it is an Electra.
