  • Love the pedal Andy uses in this song... awesome solo!!!

  • Search "dead end job live" in you tube... bad bassist my ass... First american tour... at The Rat... probably, as I head, no more than 100 hundred attendees.

  • Somebody heard dead end job live at the rat? Wadda bassist

youtu.be/.41ZNiIDE8yc Dot after "be" you must delete it.. Listen to this!.

  • FUCK YA BONO IS THE SHIT, FUCK THE POLICE

  • Well I love both of them so there LOL. Seen both bands many times there's not much between them both brilliant in their own way. I saw THE POLICE and U2 at Gateshead in July 1982 and Bono also joined The Police onstage for Invisible Sun, but a lot of people probably didn't know who he was then!!

  • DAMMIT that was cool

  • Sting and Bono are excellent writers that can really bare their teeth on political matters. This song is a perfect fit for both. It's funny how the haters here have poor grammar and punctuation.

  • U2 was ecstatic when The Police break up here!

  • @messageinabottle79 U2 buttfucks EVERYTHING done by the police in the 80s....unforgettable fire and joshua tree were untouchable...the police sucks monkey balls and pales in comparision with their 80s albums imo

  • 2 Big C**** on 1 stage....

  • Bono's voice in the eighties was just perfect.

  • @BeauTokyo Bono hate is better when it is informed. I can't remember the last time he's lip-synched something

  • Wow......Bono's not lip syncing this.....well.....it was a long time ago.....and the words are easy.....

  • @BeauTokyo He never is...

  • Bollocks

  • @bernadezi sting just irks me, with his "soul cages" segway and all. his voice just sucks to me. bono is a better singer though imo.

  • @adebicki Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. There are songs I dislike from both these artists but also a great many that will never be forgotten. It is my belief they have 2 of the most distinctive and most easily recognised voices in rock and roll history. Just my opinion and thanks for keeping your reply decent.

  • Is the original banned on YouTube? I just heard about it for the first time (maybe I heard about it long ago, but I don't remember). The Police were one of my favs from the 80s (U2 as well).

  • Yeah!!! Summers rocks!!! In my case i think all the police members are leyends alive! Stieng is a great composer, copeland has that particular the police sound drum i love and i thaink particulary ws summers who installed in the band that reggea style....

  • The only thing I get from this vid is that the police is fantastic and that there are 13 idiots in this world which dont like this vid

  • I LOVE the Police, but for some reason their live performances always seem to lack power... The sound was always "thin!" If you listen to other 3 piece bands like Rush during the same time period, the bass guitar sound was much heavier/thicker. I know Geddy Lee style was much more busy, just listen to the sound (not the number of notes) of his bass in songs like Freewill or Red Barchetta from Exit Stage Left. I still love them, but the live performances just don't match the studio versions.

  • @mtalley1 No one is ever going to mistake Sting for one of the great bass players of all-time.

  • @Stolehome66 No, maybe not the best bassist of all time, but he might be mistaken for a mediocre bassist. He has a great talent for a groove - you see it mostly in some of the album tracks. As for the bigger hits he is a master of the "less is more" principle, Messy over-technical bassists take note!

  • @peetludlow he's up there for sure.

  • @Stolehome66 he's an excellent bassist. Not many people could keep rhythm as well as Sting whilst singing simultaneously. Especially in songs like De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da and Walking on the Moon where the bass is prevelant. He did a very good job.

  • Bloody Nora - all we need here is Mark fucking Knopfler!

  • wank

  • the only fact is that Bono has suffered from bad singing technique, but he is not a bad singer, far from it...he was straining his vocals chords back in those days and after surgery in the late 90s, his vocals suffered but on the recent 360 tour he singing the best he has done since the ZOO Tour, his technique is much better and some might say the way he sings is much better these days, although he has lost some of the character and power, but there is also age, smoke/drink etc to account for

  • Where is the original video for this song? No on youtube?

  • I can understand that U2 are big but it is a fact that stuart copeland is a better drummer than larry mullen the same goes for andy summers and the edge and sting and adam clayton. The only thing that makes U2 is Bono.

  • @StereophonicZappa Summers better than Edge?? I've NEVER heard anyone say that

  • Comment removed

  • @TomFromJersey Just listen... specially last Police tour.

  • I absolutely love Bono - but he looks like a gay pilgrim on that stage.

  • @harrissasha That look does it for me lol!

  • they both have inflated egos, but Sting is a million times better than Bono.

  • @bababoum no way! Sting hasnt done anything decent since 10 sumners tales, tell me im wrong?

  • Comment removed

  • @Robcatist Sting's contribution to music has been far greater. It's not about who's had more recent success. Sting with The Police intergrated a perfect blend of new-wave, reggae and punk. And it worked. It was an innovative sound, like a whole new genre.

Bono's done some good stuff too. Nothing as original as The Police though.

  • @bababoum whilst sting is a better musician tactically, he comes know where near bono who is only second to lennon

  • @SuperBingo96 Superb ive got someone onside!

  • @bababoum I almost agree with u,but listen to track 4 on synchronicity........and for that reason its going to have to be Bono and the boys for me! Sting only wanted to sing songs he'd written thats the main reason they split.

  • @Robcatist I know, Sting was extremely egotistical by the time Synchronicity came out and the band memebers (particularly Sting and Copeland) kept having big bust-ups. Buit I don't think that's a reason not to like their music! I don't like Sting as a person, although he's mellowed somewhat he's still arrogant. But I absolutely love the music he and The Police produced.

on that Synchronicity album, Sting wrote Every Breath You Take, King of Pain and Wrapped Around Your Finger. Let him write!

  • @bababoum I know what your saying, i have the Police live in Atlanta Synchronicity tour dvd and they were fantastic live, and at there peak. They are better musicians than u2 its just down to personal taste really.

  • What an amazing 5 minutres of history.

  • Boyohboy!

Sting is a grand singer, no doubt, and I have been a fan of police for decades.

But to see Bono step up there and add a whole other dimension to the song blows my mind completely!

Sounds pompous, but I consider this to be one of those moments in the history of modern music...

  • perfect combination!

  • Great moment in history for fellow Police fans. they had bitterly parted ways ~2 years prior to this gig, and Sting had released Dream of the Blue turtles a few months prior. It was up in the air whether Sting, Andy, Stewart would re-unite for this gig... till' the curtains opened, and the crowd went nuts. I was a freshman in highschool when this aired on the radio. I recorded the U2 set as well as the Police performance.

Thanks for sharing this rare footage

  • rush 2010 time machine

  • U2 e Police...incrível, muito doido, the best...

  • legendary stuff right here

  • Wow...two of the best bands ever...

  • NO I had brunch with Bono he said Sting was the best sound/singer he ever met......

  • That was awesome I remember when the Police came out with Synchronicity and U2 with Boy and War , Definite torch passing going on here, Could you imagine being there in the crowd, musical history, not quite Jimmy Hendrix at Woodstock but

    a great moment

  • Police : massive talent underrated

    Bono : massive ego overinflated

  • @foamulator spot on, although the same could be said for Sting's ego!

  • i just called the number on the screen and no one answered...

  • Gret song, but bono just has to get in on everything... complete egomaniac.

  • Teachers hand over to students...The Police were more technical musically, versatle and you could dance to them,,,U2 will always be in their shadow.

  • u2 and police so great !

  • They dont sound good together.

  • wow it cant get any better than this!

  • the police were broken up for two years up to this point, right after the synchronicity tour ended in 1984. this was a one-off, short-lived reunion for amnesty international in 1986.

  • I think I saw this concert on TV

  • Very clear that Bono outclassed Sting in two of the 'Wooohoo's' in particular!

  • @themightystripes nope, Bono is really out of tune, and sung wrong lirycs.

  • @divinoyogurt lmao you know nothing about singing if you really think that you fucking moron!!!!

  • @bugmusk6 Yeah I really don't understand a thing 'bout singing... I'm just a producer & audio engineer... please be serious!

  • @divinoyogurt is right Bono slaughters this song

  • @divinoyogurt Then you are the worst producer and audio engineer in the history of music, I also produce and engineer. Such a shame that Bono has been held back by his bad singing you can really tell that it has hurt his career. lmao

  • @bugmusk6 Listen to me, child : Bono was TOTALLY OUT OF TUNE (just listen...), and, yes, he SUNG WRONG LIRYCS (this is a FACT).

Any other cosnideration is only usless shit. Be serious and open your ears... and, please, if your ears are so fucked up, please pleasae please stop producing and engineering.

  • @divinoyogurt lmao ....ok just keep this in mind, Bono will be remembered forever but you won't be remembered for anything!!!!

  • never liked those live backup singer chicks

  • I miss the 80' - 90' s U2 ... Even if I love the last tour and their last albums, for me there is a Big 4 for U2 : War, The Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby ... Maybe Zooropa if we talk about Big 5 ^^

  • Bono, babe, the lyrics start "And they're only gonna change this place by killing everybody in the human race . . . "

  • @epsteinsmutha1 You're so right, man!

  • 1 billion or even trillion or even zillion cheers for both the police and u2.

  • bono looks like a netherland colonos... XD

  • Great post. i suspect they did it a higher key to accommodate bono

  • @H4rryF why would they put it in a higher key for bono, although they r both tenors, sting sings much higher than bono

  • holy shit! bono isn't wearing gay sunglasses

  • @tub99899 i agree there but still a fan

  • Comment removed

  • need not fight over who's the bet between sting & bono. they are AWESOME & considered as LEGENDS & GENIUSES!!! To just see them perform together is nothing but AMAZING! It's a rare treat that we all have to appreciate. ;)

  • why bono quickly left the stage.. ??

  • We've been saying "Bono killed Invisible Sun" for 24 years. The idiot didn't know the complete song, which is apparent since he counted to "ten" instead of "six" as is correct for the song. Andy Summers couldn't have been too happy with Bonehead either, given the look of death at 2:42. In short, Bono should be shot.

  • @penney4u2002 oh sorry bono didnt know songs that he didnt write. i guess he was busy helping his band be awsome. dont hate on bono he is the man and U2 is awsome.

  • It must be nice to be totally infallible like you. Actually, since you're perfect, then you cease to exist. So why am I replying to nobody?

    Hmmmm...

  • @penney4u2002 , whoopdeedooders!!!

  • I love the Police and Bono is so awesome

  • bono look like boy george

  • u use crack?

  • wtf?! lol

  • u2 are anything but boring. Have you listened to anything from them over the last 2 decades? Huge range of material and great songs.

  • Epic.

  • best song ever <3

  • What a duo. Neverthless, I though Sting could give the microphone a bit more to Bono, my perception was he almost was not in there. I'm into Police but I'm not always in the same wavelength with Gordon.

  • @Asiroth07

The idea was that the Police were quitting and handing over the reins to U2, which is basically what happened. It was a kinda symbolic thing for Sting to start the song and then let Bono in the help finish it.

  • good

  • wow saw them w/the Fixx in1984 .what a great show with incredible material.A band that always meant something.their knowledge culturally and musically was always a testament to their searching minds.Sting and copeland and summer always did creative work with others. What a powerful band.

  • This would be Bono's pre-trendy-eyewear 'goofy-ass-hat' period.

  • bono should come out with a solo album..."bono plays the police"

  • FOOOODA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i agree with glennopd.... and Mr Sting wasnt to happy bout giving up the baton,,, god bless em all

  • what couple!!!!

  • mt bom!

  • The Police were the biggest band in the world at this time. They disbanded after the Conspiracy of Hope tour. You might notice that Sting hands his base to Adam Clayton at the end of this song. Andy Summers handed his guitar to Edge and Stuart Copeland handed over his drums to Larry Mullen in a symbolic gesture of handing over the torch to U2. The following March U2 released The Joshua Tree and the rest, as they say.....

  • is history

  • that was beautiful my friend.

  • @glennopd And, actually, they had already broken up. They reunited for this show. In fact, I still have the broadcast on VHS somewhere and as they were taking the stage, Mark Goodman very quickly said, "We're watching the reuniting of The Police!!" And quickly cut over to the performance. Great show. U2's was phenomenal too. They did a great cover of "Maggie's Farm."

  • @RunyonFan - good knowledge! you should check out U2's perfromance of Maggie's Farm at Self Aid in dublin ...mad!

  • @glennopd too bad U2 never passed the torch, they just ran with it until it burnt out

  • @masternate61 good thing thom yorke found it in the ditch and re-lit it.

  • @masternate61 - you're not wrong...I still long for the old days...visited the Joshua Tree this year in Death Valley...seeing it there lying on the ground past its prime but still strangely majestic, it struck me as a kind of metaphore for the band now.

  • @glennopd I didnt realise the police were still together in 86, good video. I agree with what you say.

  • @glennopd I never noticed that...thanks for pointing it out

  • this is the type of song bono was born to sing!

  • nice stuff !! 5/5

  • Stew with his CFOX shirt !

  • bono was so damn cute

  • I love them!

  • Amazing solo. He wasn't used to play such a piece of rock!

  • Performing as one of the leading singers of Conspiracy of Hope :P

  • german:POLICE ist einer der besten BANDS der WELT wer schlecht darüber schreibt: ihr müsst es nicht hören dann lasst es .

    gruss peter danke:azsunsfan

  • U R A DOPE! this is 2 of the best artists we have ever known and this song is incredible...Y don't U write a song! loser!

  • i'm so glad Bono grew into his nose.

  • Yeah but even with a big nose he was still mad sexy .

  • This was on the Conspirancy of Hope tour for amnesty international

  • I love how people can't just stop fighting like dumbasses, not even in a Police video, geez, you guys likes fighting get each other's email address!

  • Exactly! It's Police and U2 playing a song together...Bono and Sting, two of the greatest singers ever, singing an awesome song together. People should just enjoy the freaking song and the video. If they want to debate politics, then they can go to a political forum.

  • "Like Button"

  • why does sting look so cool and Bono looks like boy george????

  • I love it so much. And I love the Bono's hat xD.

  • i hate bonos hat, damn!!

  • Would have liked to see Nirvana cover this one

  • este video es buen sting son buenos

  • Actually they should've had Adam Sandler come out in that long black wig with the shades and silver suit and sing this on the recent tour, LOL!

  • such a heavy thing to hear Bono do this! too bad it didn't happen earlier on when they were still actively touring

  • sting and bono ..... fuaaaaa los putos bossilussos!

  • the vocals are a little lacking here, but overall nice job.

  • How many women they did in the backstage after the duet?

  • fourteen

  • this is awesome! a true gem!

  • wow this before the joshua tree

  • It´s a Police song...

  • i know its a police song but i meant bono was singing here before he and u2 made joshua tree

  • I love the Irish accent :)

  • Yo, porkusmag, youre just some jealous loser whose life means nothing. at least Bono the greatest and sting the greatest are in synchronicity. AND duo-ing it for a good cause back in the day. If you have such little meaning to anyone (obviously ) dont bother commenting.

  • Bono is a punk who tries to play a Pink Floyd role with his poor band. It´s too big for him. Last good album was Joshua Tree. Rest, crap. And his ideas, well, I prefer Dubya´s ones...

  • Well, tks... I think his not big enough to play Roger Waters.

  • Achting Baby crap? One crap? You prefer Dubya's ideas? Dubya didn't have any ideas they were all Cheney's and his dad's corporate buddies. But, putting that aside, which country would you have bombed next then?

  • you love to attack the united states and you have the right to because of US!!!! like it or not we have to be the janitors of the world meaning we have to clean up the shit other countries create. from germany, croatia, iraq, afganastan.

  • you have created a load of shit too

  • Why not? Freedom of speech, oh, right... there´s no freedom of speech in USA. My guess is, I never saw Bono -neither Sting- did a show against the atrocities made by the US in Irak, Afghanistan and some other countries.... NO!!! You can´t mess with that big market. Let´s point the finger on the dictatorships in Latin America better ... put by who? The US.

  • There is freedom of speech in America. People have spoke out against the actons of the US- just like you were doing- and none of them have been, or should have been prosecuted. Its a first amendment right and no one can take it

  • What I meant was, except for Roger Waters (talking about the big ones), I never saw a tour against the tortures of the US and the disasters of Iraq, etc. I´m just a regular guy.

  • If youre waiting for that, dont hold your breath.

  • Well... that´s why my first post: "I never saw Bono -neither Sting- did a show against the atrocities made by the US in Irak...."
