Great video! Nutivas coconut oil is NOT raw, (at least they had the integrity to admit it). I would recommend Artisana Raw coconut oil, or make your own. Look it up to see what i mean if you wish.
I also love avocados for my good raw fats (i eat 1/2 day). I also put ground flax seeds in my smoothies (used to use the oil years ago) but this way it is easily abosrbed by body. I like Natures path, use a tablespoon or two in smoothie and no taste! If flax seeds are not ground not easily absorbed.
@qwertasdcfghjklmo24z You're so sweet! And topically on my skin/face I only use organic olive oil with 10 drops of essential Lavender oil per a 1 oz bottle. If you tend towards breakouts, then use coconut oil instead.
@qwertasdcfghjklmo24z as long as it's organic or grass-fed, I'm with you! I can't get that, so I use Grapeseed oil instead (also good for high heat cooking)
how about flax seed oil? cant I take fish oil and flax seed oil together? or one is beter than the other? please help I have UC and bought barleans cold pressed oil and I take like caples like you do just pop them into my mouth what do you think... how much of what oil should I take....thanks
@eri9390 You sure can, people with UC usually need 1 tsp cod liver oil and 2 tbsp. flax or Udo's oil per day. But begin slowly and build up to your tolerance.
@chills91 I'm deceptive-looking - people always think I'm skinnier than I am - I'm 5'7" and 130 - 135 lbs. I don't think I need to gain weight. Also, don't forget that muscle weighs 4 times as much as fat, so 130 lbs of muscle looks a lot thinner than 130 lbs of fat.
what kind of bread did you use? Gluten is very bad for you and is also the main reason why many people have headaches. I am sure that is another reason why people get hangovers when they drink because gluten is in most alcoholic beverages.
i just tried to order some raw butter from organic pastures...they said they do not ship out of state (CA) I live in Texas...any suggestions of where to order from in my state? Thanks so much Jini!
@arspring99 Yes, I'm not sure which percentage of fat is ideal - but I suspect it has a lot to do with lifestyle/physical activity, climate, etc. for e.g. physically rigorous, outdoor life in a cold climate = more fats needed. Regarding saturated fat, see westonaprice [dot] org to see why it is not evil but actually beneficial and needed.
I suffer from IBS (that's what my GP has diagnosed me with.) I'm 23 and have only been on medication/diagnosed for it for about 3 years now. I'm trying to start my journey of changing my eating habits.
I just wanted to comment and thank you for this video showing very simple ways to get GOOD fats, that will actually help (though I heard IBS sufferers should be careful with fats.)
Anyway, thanks again and please make more like this (I am such a picky eater. Dx)
You should check out Heather Van Vorous' cookbook for IBS - she also has a cooking DVD. Her stuff is at: helpforibs d*ot com (YouTube won't let you give out URLs properly)
Many people with gut problems shouldn't be eating wheat. For a treat, I have butter on rice flour bread, but I don't make a habit of eating simple carbohydrates like that.
@saintanne1 Yes, very true. But the majority of people do eat bread, so I was trying to show an easy way to work butter in to the diet. Personally I prefer a veggie fried rice or quinoa dish (soaked first of course) with soy sauce and tons of butter melted in. Or oatmeal (again, pre-soaked for digestion) with butter melted on top.
In active disease states, your body can lose the ability to digest fats properly, so you have to consume according to your body's tolerance. In my book "Listen To Your Gut" I have specific diets that gradually bring your digestive/absorptive abilities up to normal (combined with supplements) - THEN you can eat LOTS of good, healthy fats.
I ha ulcerative colitis and they told me no fats or very low fats cant I eat this? thanks for your videos God bless you for helping people with this type illnesses
Jini's book Listen To Your Gut really saved my life. I still deal with gut problems but am steadily improving since two years ago when I couldn't eat anything at all without intestinal agony. I could only afford 2 doctor visits and was told to take fiber and given some pills that made me sicker and given a bill for $1500. I found Jini's book online and spent virtually my last dollar on it, the information in that book helped me improve rapidly out of a serious health crisis. Thank you Jini!

Hi, you are really thin. Do you ever think about gaining weight with your protein muffins?

@jinithompson You've got a point there! I love your videos. I sent one of them to my sister who has IBS. I hope she tries some of your recipes.

Butter has a HIGH amount of saturated fat. Not propaganda. Try olive oil.
By the way, only 30% of your calories should come from fat.
Sincerely, a health teacher

@arspring99 It does have a high amount of saturated fat, and that's exactly what you want!

@arspring99 transfats are dangerous, not saturated. It's mostly empty carbs like sugar and refined grains that make people fat
