My Dear boyfriend Russell died yesterday. He fought a long painful battle with cancer. Driving away from his house this song came on the radio, NPR. I had never heard in before. It felt like a gift from God to hear it at the peak of my sorrow. The sun was breaking through the rain clouds. Emmylou captures how many of us feel about the suffering and pain the person we love has endured, and that they are finally leaving that behind. Goodnight my Sweetheart.
Lost my beautiful, intelligent, loving 22 year old daughter to brain cancer six years ago, and while we played Garth Brook's version of The Dance at her memorial service, this tune is even more moving. Thanks, Emmy Lou, for a song that helps keep my daughter's memory alive.
@redcommando1 WTF ? she's in here 60's asshole let's see you when you're 60 maybe you will want to pick up a shot gun and kill yourself because you will have wrinkles all all over ...
...no, there really isn't. This made me think of when we lost our mom --the song she deserved but no one could find it to sing it. Emmy Lou Harris could've tho.
Wow, does it really get any better than this?? A wonderful song and tribute to a wonderful, gifted person whose songs and voice will be sadly ,sadly missed.
First saw Emmylou in concert when she was pregnant many years ago. Went with my mom last year to see her in concert and this time we had the pleasure of meeting her. She not only sounds better than she ever did, but she is more beautiful now.
