they mainly originated to whoop the spanish. while in a dance theyre actually training to kill by working your hands and eye coordination. so, when they pick up a sword or rattan to kill the spanish the transition on learning fundamental is there but, not comabt ready.. makes it easier transistion to learn the actual combat kali system.

Amazing to see how far the SPANISH PALOTEOS dances traveled. Chamorros from GUAM & NORTHERN MARIANAS have a similar dance called, BAILAN PALITOS. A dance of Spanish (PALOTEOS) origin, yet share similarities with certain Mexican folkdances (DANZA DE LOS MACHETES) as well as the Filipino SAKUTING. This SAKUTING performance bears striking similarities to the CHAMORRO BAILAN PALITOS. Another commonality shared between us CHAMORROS and FILIPINOS, the FORGOTTEN HISPANICS of ASIA and the PACIFIC.
