I agree with Danbo342. The Blackbird IS one of the most greatest plane in the world, and it will stay in the same group as the x-15 and other revolutionary planes.
@superdude339. The sr-71 cruised in full afterburner at mach 3.2 so you might wanna amend what you said, it shows you have no idea what you're talking about
HA Bissell and Dulles are traitors of the worst kind. Dulles fired by JFK for carrying out the failed BOP invasion against orders. Both involved in JFKs murder! Disgusting. Both worked for Cardinal Spellman and the Jesuits.
They called it aliem technology! That's were our American engieers learned to build it from, Aliens. And not the ones from Mexico!
Leaked fuel on the tarmac, the first ones took two carts with twin oldmobile v8 engines to spin the turbines up to speed to start, then took another hour before they had the power to move the plane. They carried no weapons only a few million dollar cameras and to this day top speed is still classified as top secret. Around the world in 30 minutes.....
@Superdude339 you forgot one more the P-51 Mustang with the Merlin 12cyl engine. Or the F-15 that was able to fly with only one wing after a training exercise. Look it up you will see it that the F-1f with the Israeli Air Force was flown by a pilot who did not even realise he had lost a wing . The Eurofighter has nothing on the F-22. Tried to post the link but just type it in pretty amazing...
@Superdude339 First you say "there only a handful of aircraft that are the best", then you say "The list is endless", fuck, you are stupid dude..........
I like this plane, but it could only achieve super sonic speeds for a few seconds Concorde was the really the first plane to travel super sonic speeds for a hole flight.
@Superdude339 Mach 3.0 was its normal "cruise" speed. It had to maintain these speeds when on surveillance ops so it would avoid being shot down by a missile.
@Superdude339 The SR-71 did not achieve supersonic flight "for a few seconds", rather it CRUISED in full afterburner and spent the majority of flight time in supersonic flight. Check your facts superdude.
@Superdude339 Superdude, you failed. If it would have achieved the supersonic speed for few seconds only, all above average missiles/cannons would have shot it down many times. so it would be no use to build an expensive plane and then send it on a suicide mission.
I was stationed on Okinawa during 1970-71 and watched the Habu land several times, usually on Sunday afternoons. It would make a pass over the run way at Kadena Air Base, fly back around, land and go into an underground hanger. Little did I realize what I was really watching. I am sad that the Habu is no longer in service to the United States. It's a marvel of aviation for today let alone 50 years ago when it was first thought of and developed. God bless the USA!!
they had this technology in 65, there is no telling what they have now. crap my truck has onstar, pretty much what this plane has. they say they have nothing, which we all know is crap, even the president, in his all knowing glory (laugh) dosent know.
U.S likes to retire it's highly advanced technology, this jet would've still been perfectly been active, but no, they had to retire it and they stiill havent made a jet too replace it. Same thing as the space shuttle, we could have still been using it, but they decided to retire it...
@cvunit The SR-71 was made obsolete by spy sattllites as it's mission was for spying during the cold war. Think about it: What can the SR-71 do that a sattelite can't do non-stop for years, unmanned. Still, it's a hell of a plane that set records unmatched to this day. Who wouldn't want to fly in it just once?
@astrofrk Well for one it can provide real time information rather than just a snapshot, and it can easily and quickly relocate. I do agree that satellites are useful but i don't think it made them obsolete considering the last flight was in 1999.
I knew about the blackbirds years ago, I remember building a 1:144 scale model of it. I could imagine a fighter this plane if it survived to this day would have laser weaponry instead of normal AA because it travels as fast as those AA missles!!
so this was 52 years ago? Ok, now i am CERTAIN they reverse engineered a UFO and that they can likely do 10000 miles an hour in some top secret anti gravity stuff today. SERIOUSLY!!! 1959????? imagine the stuff they have hidden in area 51!
The user's manual is believed to have been written by thousands of unnamed specialists, each of them wrote only one word so the whole text would remain secret.

Always was wondered how USA got kick in technologic after WW2 and taking Nazis scientist. 3 reich was like 20 years before others in science. Love this plane anyway, its leaking on the ground and was refuealing in air when leaks was gone. Quite unique machine.
@ekovzy You are absolutely correct. At least twenty years ahead of their time. The V2 rocket program, nuclear fission, genetics, vacuum suits for space travel, the first operational jet aircraft. Google 'Operation Paperclip.'

@87sprintqf Nothing, planes like these have been replaced by satellites... no point in spending billions developing something that will always come second best to the unmanned box in the sky
@hbiggs96 that is not right my friend, the U2 Spy Plane is a plane used in the cold war, and it has been used since then for reconnaissance, no satellite has replaced it, because the plane has the ability to direct flights to objectives at short notice, which satellites cannot do.
If there is a replace for this plane is the UAV GlobalHawk.
Man, I remember when this had less than 20,000 views, that was before black ops came out. I hade cod fans that only know about great old machines like this from video games -_-
@mattcrack44 Personally, I like the music. I only had difficulty hearing the voice over once or twice. Then again, I'm listening to this using fairly high-quality ($200+) in-ear earphones. I think the music sets the proper mood for this awesome machine.
@draleighd Everywhere you can. Typically aircraft hold fuel in the wings as well as parts of the fuselage. At cruise speed of Mach 3.2 the engines are at peak efficiency where the air is so hot that little fuel can be added in the combustion chamber without melting the turbine blades behind it. That being said the range of the plane is only 3600 mi giving about 1.5hrs of operation before needing to be refueled. God I Love this plane.
coltsfan4lyfe The one @ Wright Pat is the only one I knew where it is off the top of my head. Where in Bloomington is that one? I'm only about an hour from there. I saw one from a distance years ago in South Dakota
@ThePhantomII All of them still in existence are at various museums around the country except for 1. That one is in England. I saw the one at Hill AFB north of Salt Lake City and I just about creamed my jeans when I seen it. Now I guess it's time to see the two closest to me, Dayton OH and Bloomington IL, plus whoever is in question here...just watch the 2nd Transformers movie, Jetfire is an SR71.
I see there are a lot of haters on here. This plane is very much real. Kelly Johnson would be my great great uncle and a genious. My father who is also a very knowledgable man knows just about everything there is to know about this plane and a great deal about every plane ever designed by kelly. Since I was a little girl I have been told many stories about kelly and his work. Believe what you want but the documentation on this plane is very much real and accurate.
I've noticed there are no cockpit videos of the SR-71 in flight. This is a drag, as it would be damned cool to see how fast it appears to be going at speed and altitude. At top speed, these things flew almost 40 miles a minute; I'd like to see how that looks from the cockpit...
bloody-hell planes like the b-2 spirit and sr-71 blackbird were made in the 1960's and were announced in the late 1970's (i think) and think how they kept those planes secret from us for such a long time... makes me think what they are building right now.
@digimanga No. Like the narrator stated in the video, the SR-71 was announced publicly in 1964. The B-2 Spirit was first flown in 1989 and announced in 1997. Where are you getting your information? They are building lots of unmanned aircraft at this time. Small, fast, and deadly, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of what they have to offer...
@h5y ..Forgive me , but I can'nt seem to find the Arrow in any of the record books???what exactly is the Arrow's claim to aviation fame?? Thanks for your help...
@Evilfisher yes its something in black ops, and the thing that bothers me is that kids who play black ops think they know things about military equipment just by playing a video game. Its stupid.
Didn't call it a spyplane for nothing hahaha, I don't think they're retired either because we can't rely that much on satellites. They have to be flying in the middle east.
Smart people designed this, not computers.

bloody-hell planes like the b-2 spirit and sr-71 blackbird were made in the 1960's and were announced in the late 1970's (i think) and think how they kept those planes secret from us for such a long time... makes me think what they are building right now.
digimanga 9 months ago
@digimanga No. Like the narrator stated in the video, the SR-71 was announced publicly in 1964. The B-2 Spirit was first flown in 1989 and announced in 1997. Where are you getting your information? They are building lots of unmanned aircraft at this time. Small, fast, and deadly, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of what they have to offer...

@beeroosterm sry, my memory of these planes are a bit sketchy.. but ur rightscary new planes coming out that havent been announced

@sexybeast619619619 No, your father never flew this plane. How do I know? SR-71 pilots don't raise children with account names of "sexybeast619"

Evilfisher 9 months ago
@Evilfisher yes its something in black ops, and the thing that bothers me is that kids who play black ops think they know things about military equipment just by playing a video game. Its stupid.

I knew of this aircraft, but I forgot the name of it.. So I cant thumb up.

@yOkheed it's a game called "Call of Duty Black Ops" if you really don't know about it. The game allows you to use a sr-71.

@La504wolf
Didn't call it a spyplane for nothing hahaha, I don't think they're retired either because we can't rely that much on satellites. They have to be flying in the middle east.
