  • So this is who is in charge of Glassell? No wonder its so fucked up.

  • Even then it's a fine line. Local news films meetings all the time and displays them to the public without consequence. You retain the same rights as a citizen. Even more so if you are a resident of that community. I say we all go down and attend the next meeting, all with camcorders in hand.

  • If I were to go videotape on Hollywood Blvd per say, I think I would have a hard time getting release forms signed from the few thousand people that potentially may be in any of the frames. It is not illegal to film an open, public meeting such as this. You are only breaking the law if they end up in a movie, or production that is open to the public.

  • Umm....yeah, see we have a "freedom of the press" in America. This pertains to all of it's citizens, and not just news affiliates. The only way that you would need release forms from the officials is if you are making a production that would generate an income for yourself or your company.

  • A most disheartening aspect of the neighborhood council system is that there is no consequences for "neighborhood council(NC) officials behaving badly" from any government entity- they will not do anything about even the most flagrant abuses of their position- The whole NC experiment may need to be scrapped.

  • Claiming the City Attorney said this or that... isn't a defense in court. The council should invite a city attorney to attend the meeting or better get the city attorney opinion in writing.

  • Isn't this a PUBLIC meeting? If something is public, it's public. Not only should you be able to tape it, it should be publicly archived and distributed. They should be taping it themselves, and posting it on the net, themselves.

  • What an arrogant public official!

  • Several members of this particular board (and their agents) are well-experienced in obstructionist tactics, having hounded the previous board to adhere to the LETTER of the bylaws. They were dogged in bogging down the meetings - a tactic that succeeded in pursuading several former committed boardmembers not to run. Now the shoe may be on the other foot.

  • Whatever the orientations of the current board, it would be nice to have them acknowledge that videotaping meetings only serves the board's interest in making their work available to the widest audience...Unless, of course, they harbor no such interest. The videographer is hewing to the spirit of the brown act - actually making public meeting public. He/she does a service for our Glassell Park community!

  • Funny how they don't seem to know anything about the Brown Act. What have they got to hide? Sure acting guilty...but of what?

  • Same thing happened to me on Nov. 2, 2006 at Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council. Board President Brian Heckmann ordered me to stop videotaping a meeting after stakeholder Mary Moon complained. This goes far beyond Glassell Park and is part of a corrupt system. -- Ken Camp, Los Angeles

  • What is the name of the videographer?

  • this bradely guy has a lot of projects in glassel park. He is another developer using a neighborhood council as a way to support the pro development agenda.

  • Being a resident in the most dangerous part of this truly godforsaken part of town, I can tell you that these people certainly should have more on their proverbial plates then whether or not the meeting can be videotaped. I am outraged by their behavior, and though I don't own a camcorder, I think it would be worth buying one just for these meetings. Thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention.

  • Glassell Park is wrong. The Ralph M. Brown Act applies to all legislative bodies in California and allows the recording of meetings.

  • What the heck are they hiding in Glassell Park ? Remember just a couple of years ago the Neighborhood Councils were trying to get the local cable tv providers to foot the bill to have camera coverage at all NC meetings and broadcast on channel 35 !!

  • They better watch their step in ol GP or I'll show up with a production crew, sound people, cameras and kleig lights !!

  • F-ing facsists. Fight the effeminate-voiced power!

  • See ya there Tuesday armed with video cameras!

  • Glassell Park - next "Executive Board" meeting:

    June 5, 2007, 7 p.m.

    Next "General Community Stakeholder" meeting

    June 19, 2007, 7 p.m.

    (both "Brown Act" meetings)

Arrive with cameras -- you'll be in good company. This clip is getting major views today over at Mayor Sam's Sister City (Google it - YouTube won't allow me to post the URL).

  • Anyone wanna group together and head down there and each one of us videotape and photograph the entire thing.

  • I'd join in but for previous plans. Great idea though!

  • videotaping a meeting is a great way to inform the public about the activities in our neighborhood. The neighborhood Council in Glassell Park has nothing to hide (or do they?). I used to tape councel meetings and nobody objected.

You did a great job by staying calm and focused. And you were right - the Brown Act is on your side. Who is the District Attorney who so wrongly advised

Mr.Bradley about the videotaping. There should be an official investigation.

  • Yes get that man. Ignorance is the worst and most dangerous thing in public office!

  • I cannot tell you how disturbing this video was to watch! I just bought a home in the area and I can't imagine these people having ANYTHING to do with my neighborhood. Dayana Molina and this Bradley person (who is the worst!) and Jennifer Rojo need to be somewhere OTHER than having control over this meeting. What the hell are they so scared of? Well, obviously they're afraid of looking like the idiots they are--which is perfectly shown on this video.

  • Just FYI, the female who equals BRADLEY in harrassing the stakeholder is Paula Bagasao not Dayana Molina.

  • Thanks. But Dayana was the woman speaking most of the time in the beginning, and was just as bad.

  • Oops! I just watched the begining again. You are right. The placards are confusing. Thanks.

  • This video was actually very scary. It looks like communism to me. Why were these people so afraid of the video tape? What do they have to hide? An open meeting is just that, open. Do not let these people bully you. Keep standing up for yourself and don't back down. Because your also standing up for your community. There is something wrong when people are so afraid of you. That means your doing something right and they are doing something wrong. What do they want to cover up? I wonder.

  • Ummm, communists, yeah, except that these boards are often dominated by developers. By definition, they are capitalists.

  • Don't back down with these fascists. I used to be their minutes taker before Bradley took over. He is a fascist. These are public meetings and, according to the Brown Act, you are allowed to record it in any fashion you wish. These pigs cannot hide behind their threats to go to the City Attorney. Be brave and continue videotaping them. They cannot stop you. If this continues I will also go down there with my video camera. -- Ken Camp, Los Angeles
