I have a love hate relationship with condoms personally, but it's an odd history with my partner being allergic to latex (we use poly but prefer sheepskin on special occasions). With me I've done my research with withdrawal and try to have a urination before sex (it lowers "live ammo" risk) and have good control with my body. Both me and my partner have experimented with condoms, and actually I got so desensitized from it I got limp from latex/poly. But condoms ARE important, no doubts.
A quick tip: If you put some kind of water based lubricant on the inside of the condom as well as the outside of the condom it will make the condom feel almost like it is not there and increases the pleasure of sex!
If you are monogamous with your partner and reasonably trust them and you have both been tested and she is on the pill I see no reason to wear condoms. We don't wear a condom, however, we're in a stable relationship (married) and expecting our first child.

I have a love hate relationship with condoms personally, but it's an odd history with my partner being allergic to latex (we use poly but prefer sheepskin on special occasions). With me I've done my research with withdrawal and try to have a urination before sex (it lowers "live ammo" risk) and have good control with my body. Both me and my partner have experimented with condoms, and actually I got so desensitized from it I got limp from latex/poly. But condoms ARE important, no doubts.

A quick tip: If you put some kind of water based lubricant on the inside of the condom as well as the outside of the condom it will make the condom feel almost like it is not there and increases the pleasure of sex!

If you are monogamous with your partner and reasonably trust them and you have both been tested and she is on the pill I see no reason to wear condoms. And in my case since I am vasectomy safe there really is no reason too do so. However if the above does not apply it only makes sense to play it safe.

I question your assumption that recreation sex is the only choice open to rational people. Sexual 'success' could be more complex than simply considering physcial factors. I think the fact that many people do not use any contraception is because they are looking for a deeper persepctive on sex, but don't know where to find it from Western culture. At any rate, they close their eyes and hope for the best. Using condoms is better than that!

I would love to add something: Many people say NO to condoms because they "kill the moment" since you need to stop the foreplay to put it. So, my advice is, make it part of the foreplay. Girls (or guys :P), learn how to put a condom with your mouth for example. It is a new great way to be safe and to actually keep the heat up. But if you're an old dog and don't want to learn new tricks, just make it part of the routine in sex. Same as you take a bath everyday, or rush your teeth before sleeping.

Look it's simple, if there is a chance that you can get pregnant, if there is the remotest chance that you can catch an STD... use a condom. Does it feel better to be bare, in my experience yes. Is it worth an unwanted pregnancy, catching a disease, or dying? ABSOLUTELY NOT. NOW... if you WANT to get pregnant or you WANT to catch a disease... enjoy all the bare unprotected sex you can get... But take this further you(D&J) should be urging the use of dental dams too!!!

I'm sorry guys, but I also forgot to mention that there's a psychological factor involved as well when it comes to wearing one. Not just in the putting one on, but also just the overall wearing one. Knowing you're missing out on heat, moisture, and tactile sensitivity is kind of...well less hot. =) But heavens bless those little rubber insurances.

I'm all for condoms in non-committed relationship sex, and when both partners have not been checked for STDs, but honestly, if she hasn't missed a day on the BCP, I'd prefer without. It's not a HUGE "must have it without" kind of thing, it's just I don't think the pills are so unreliable that I NEED to go for both. BCP IS expensive; if she's paying for that, why add to the cost with rubber?

do you recommend any condoms or lubes that are safe and may increase my pleasure levels and would not necessarily require me to change out the condom every 15 to 20 minutes if I am lasting that long...I know this is kind of a rare question, but any suggestions, by the way I cannot use any "regular sized" trojan condoms, they are tight and constrictive and slightly painful, magnums or the oddly shaped ones like the shape of the twisted ones are better for me...but as I said any suggestions?

Yes, you should always wear a condom. My 20 year old sister was on Birth Control pills, but she still managed to get pregnant. She is against abortions too, so having an abortion is not something she would ever consider. This means that she is going to have the child, despite the fact that she can't get her qualifications for a job in later life now.

Condoms YES! Even if I am with a girl I have been with a while I still use them. And I had a vasectomy after my second child. Condoms are great if you REALLY want to last as long as the porn stars. Get the regular condoms and buy some desesnitizing cream to rub on yourself before puting the condom (ribbed even if into it) on and you last longer while she is enjp=oying the whole ride. :) Besides, "giving her head" after norml sex isnt as messy, unless your into such things.
