This just shows how fast some tornadoes move. If you were in a house on the other side of the road and didn't know it was coming, maximum 3 secs to get to safety. Very devastating day. I watched these storms live on radar and soon as I saw those debris balls, I knew it would be a day made for history. My heart goes out to Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Philadelphia, Cullman, and all over places affected.
You got wayyyyyy too close to this tornado from the beginning, great video, but this guy really has some guts to go through downed powerlines and follow right behind this thing.
You sure this wasn't sped up at all? It seems like there's a noticeable speed up at 0:11, not just of the tornado but of everything in the shot. Nonetheless, it was a great video!
@heavenssdin Surprisingly just a few people I know in philly, newton, neshoba and union are racist. But i do agree, some people in the south are just not right
@heavenssdin ummm i live in philadelphia mississippi and dont apperciate your stereotypical comment one bit. This tornado destroyed my grannys house and almost killed her.
Great tornado footage, but NOT an EF-5 (at this point--more like an EF-1 or 2). Notice the tree snapping at .027 sec. If the tornado were an EF-5, that tree would have been airborne, and the house would have been totally obliterated. The author would have also had a tough time controling his vehicle at such close range. Flying debris would have made filming impossible and downright dangerous.
In 1983, I was twice that distance from an EF-4 and my car (a 1976 Olds Cutlass was uncontrollable).
When it hits those tress it has only just touched down, so of course it's not going to be very strong at that point. It didn't reach EF5 intensity until later.
Check out my video Wickedly Beautiful a compilation of videos that grabbed me including the Tuscaloosa tornado, set to some great music. My heart goes out to everyone effected by these disasters.Stay strong and move forward.

@diannetrix comparing disasters? How insensitive! I'm a Katrina survivor and I would NEVER make a comment like this. It's obvious you've never lived through something this terrible. When you're standing in front of the ruins of your home containing everything you've worked all your life for, when your entire town is a mound of rubble and every familiar thing is nothing more than garbage fill, you aren't contemplating people in Japan or anywhere else!!

Epic!!! I saw Andy in town about an hour before this bitch dropped...I knew then it was time to go....THis MF stopped just 1000' from my house on 21 which was just a half mile from where he runs out of road and stops....Hell of a badass this Andy is...This fucker was moving and sounded like holy hell......good vid
okay...honestly....I'm all for storm chasing, but there IS a limit! and right about 0:26 or so is that limit...that is too close to the tornado! The drafts obviously were not gone from that area when he drove through...he could've been killed by a piece of debris...and at 0:39, much closer than before...I'm not meaning to fuss, I just don't want someone to watch this and think they can do the same and get themselves killed...just saying...
THIS IS NOT YOU!!! YOU LIER! I KNOW THE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY RECORDED THE FIRST HALF! I MEAN REALLY WHY WOULD YOU PLAGIARIZE ON A DISASTER? It was recorded on a blackberry curve.
Amazing footage. I used to live in a house less than 1 mile from the park off of highway 19. This extra footage (not seen elsewhere) makes it look like the tornado came from the direction of my old house. People in the car driving away from the tornado probably said look at that crazy mf driving toward the tornado.
I liked this video but IT IS SPED UP! Watch carefully around 10 or 11 seconds after he moves the camera, and the forward motion of everything in the field of vision unnaturally and suddenly increases. Still fabulous video though!
@jdale2267 Have you ever used a video recorder in a car? when you zoom it makes it look like the car is speeding up when you zoom. A natural occurence when you a hand recorder in a car... come on i know youre smarter than that..
Ha ha Philadelphia is one of the most religious towns I've ever been to.... Must of them are hard core bible thumpers.... It ain't God... It's called a cold front... This happens every year in different parts of the nation
@Aceskyler ya know tornadoes can really do that. If god wanted to he cud rip this very EARTH in half COMPLETELY and have everything put back together and back to normal like it never happened in a billionth of a second. So I'm pretty sure a small tornado cud do as it just did in the video.
I'm sorry but it does look a little fake. I don't think a tornado would disperse like that then reanimate itself like that so fast. Thats just my opinion. Its a cool video and if there was a star system i would give you a 4. But come on, and be real. A tornado would not disappear as you drive toward it then reappear on the other side of the street by coincidence.
@Aceskyler Dude this is real. Tornadoes hop and are incredibly fast. Mississippi was ripped up by many tornadoes yesterday. Luckily it hopped my school and hit a few miles from my house. This is no joke.
@Aceskyler Obviously you have no undertanding of tornadoes or have watched many tornado videos. The tornado did not disappear and was on the ground for the complete video. The condensation cloud does not always follow the wind rotation. Tornado = rotating winds, not the cloud. Remember it's better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool then make a stupid post and remove all doubt.
@GOODY61 Ok first of all that last part did not make sense at all. If i was to remain silent then why would I be looked at as a fool. Second any opinion stated is worth hearing, childish remarks should be kept behind ones teeth. Third I never made up my mind about the video being real or fake. Nothing fake about this.. The first of this video is was after a few moments of this thing touching down. It grew from a ef2 to 4 very quickly which is what it was when it came through my county moments later. you unbelievers can come down here and ill be glad to show this things path and homes destroyed. I work in law enforcement and can take you where bodies were thrown .25 miles from their homes. unbelievable the people who want to stir the pot and call this fake.. get a life..

@RichKilla86ers LOL there isn't a god.. It's all a part of nature, the winds blow, and when fronts clash, shit like this can take place. No "spiritual being that died on a lower-case T" can cause this..
This video is not fake, nor "sped up". That's how fast the tornado was moving. The only editing done was to take out the parts where Andy put the camera down or was in the trees. I live in Philadelphia, MS, and this video is nowhere near fake. The video is obviously sped up if you'd watch things other than the tornado (i.e. the windshield wipers, other car, trees falling, etc.). The devastation is very real and so many people have been affected by the storm's destruction. Still, we were very fortunate when compared to other areas hit that were extremely near to us.
How is this fake? Just because it's fast-moving? Yeah, ALOT of tornadoes are fast-moving when first formed. Then they become slower with time and growth. Know your fucking facts.
Scary stuff going on last night. The one that hit Philly last night, we thought it was just one big one , but I think they said it turned out to be a double vortex. :-/ God bless the families who weren't as fortunate as we were.
@jarodds14 i saw this shit go down all across the country yester day its not fake many of my friends had family affected by this huge cell that swept across the south go you retarted
See, Im actually surprised i stumbled on this because i saw a spec of this on the weather channels website....WHY DONT THEY PLAY THE WHOLE VID of the tornado that tore up the transformers?!?!? The second half of it is wayyyy more exciting in my opinion!!!!
@dwebb2027 media don't want those unaffected to feel too much sympathy for those affected otherwise they would promote this vidoe like they did Lindsay lohan's Jail time last year.

See, Im actually surprised i stumbled on this because i saw a spec of this on the weather channels website....WHY DONT THEY PLAY THE WHOLE VID of the tornado that tore up the transformers?!?!? The second half of it is wayyyy more exciting in my opinion!!!!

@dwebb2027 Andy was having trouble uploading video from there after power lines and towers went down, so TWC only got the first :16 sec.

@dwebb2027 media don't want those unaffected to feel too much sympathy for those affected otherwise they would promote this vidoe like they did Lindsay lohan's Jail time last year.
