@zedcent3 We are working on two new videos at the moment, but work and family commitments mean we don't get much time to shoot right now so they are taking longer than usual. Hopefully they will be available in the next few weeks. Thanks for asking.
@J0eMusty Yeah we did think about that, but we shoot on a Royal country estate, so I think the 'men in black' would come swooping down on us if we started blowing things up! :o)
@iJaydan I would like to, but we would have to buy one just to try and smash it up, which would be a shame. There are many medieval replica items I would love to test, but cost always holds us back. Rest assured though that if we can get hold of a decent one then we shall give it a real good thrashing! :o) Thanks for the suggestion.
@nqkoisii More speed yes, but carbon arrows are much lighter so they will have less mass and will deliver less kinetic energy, which means they will probably do less damage. They are also more likely to shatter on impact.
@nqkoisii Oh I see. Well, in that case they will not perform as well as they did off the longbow as the compound bow will have less power. They will either fall short, or if they reach the TV they will not do as much damage.
@bigbowbrum Actually, if you get a 100 pounds recurve or compound, the damage would be the same (higher in the case of the compound, as it stores more energy). It depends on the strength of the bow, not on its shape. Carbon vs wood is a whole other story, and i never tried to shoot a carbon arrow with such a powerful bow, so I wouldn't know.
@darktoranaga I took the question to be shooting a heavy war arrow off a standard compound bow, which I would imagine has a draw weight of less than 100lbs.
@thewistleboy Hi. We bought our needle bodkins from Magen of Fairbow. You can find their site on the net. In England there are many re-enatment fairs with plenty of blacksmiths and archery suppliers selling these kinds of heads, but the only supplier I know of in the USA is 3Rivers Archery. Perhaps do a search for their website and see if they can help too. Best wishes.
@legoles0012 We thought about it, but we shoot on a Royal estate and the security guards may not have appreciated it! The last thing we want is the men in black to come chasing us in their Range Rovers! ha ha.
Yes, im going to attempt a self bow and ive got minor concepts but im definatly in the dark. Thank you so much for your help the guide would be awsome!
Hi Nick, I know you and your group get your bows from DIY so im not quite sure if you can answer my question but ive been making arrows for quite some time and im a furnature maker aswell, and ive been really wanting to take a crack at trying to make a English longbow, would you recomend the traditional Bower's bibles? thanks,
@Agincourtwarbow I have heard that there is some very good material in those books, so yes, I would definitely give them a go. Some of our bows come from Steve at DIY, but we also get them from John Marshall and Pip Bickerstaffe. Are you going to have a go at a laminated or self bow? If it is self I can direct you to a very good guide written by a friend of mine.
We would love to, but we shoot on a royal estate with high security so it wouldn't be a good idea to start blowing stuff up. We would have the men in black after us! ha ha.
So modern flatscreen TVs can stop a war arrow, but they still konk out just after the warranty period expires hahaha.
Who/where did your source the arrowheads from? Are they hardened steel or just a mild steel? Do you guys forge them yourselves or do you know a historically minded blacksmith?
@Mububban23 We get most of our arrowheads from Hector Cole, who is one of the foremost historical blacksmiths in the country. They are all handforged and replica 14th century, made of steel. However I don't know the exact type of steel.
can you try the longbow on one of them anoying people that come to your house and try to sell you crap i allways wanted to do that but i just have to tell them to go away but if they say wait i just say fuck off to em
Hey brum, there's a series around here called , "Will it blend?" whereby some guy puts different things into a blender to see what happens. You should start one using the longbow.
Better of wearing glass armour to a fight than that chainmail junk. Of course in Skyrim, there is such a thing o.0.

The thick glass is what stopped the first few arrows... It was hard enough to bend the bodkins but when it broke the arrows went further.

the french should have used tvs instead of plate armour at azincourt
