  • How about letting us know which adaptor to use to download mini-dv to lenovo?? My camera is the canon xh-ai.

  • is there any disadvantage of using this? if i use a usb to vga adapter as my main monitor, will there be any problems? or should i go with HDMI to vga adapter? because my laptop's vga port is spoiled

  • b specific ..

  • Vista is not vista compatible...

  • I would have got one of these, but I needed a new Graphics Card for gaming, editing etc.

  • @russhurley He is famous, and I'm from England and he wouldn't be laughed off the street. People like you give England a bad name.

  • SCREW YT ADS

  • dude just go right away to your point... your wasting the time of t he audiences......

  • universal!

  • i run 1 monitor at 1600x900

  • I run 3 monitors two running at 1400x900 and the bigger one at 1400x1050

  • ? really 240p? wow that sucks

  • @Maine684 He didn't have a really good camera back in 2007.

  • @DeltaPhi79 Oh, my baad

  • @Maine684 this is from 2007

  • My impression is that he has always had a conversational style. For him I think it works. And its almost like he welcomes the viewers, etc into his office with the conversation. And he does come across as a nice, helpful individual. I don't see anything wrong with that. People need to get over this instant fix, sound bite generation. Conversation, taking your time, and listening to what other people have to say for a while is good. But then I am from the south so who knows. Why be rude?

  • suck.

  • A LITTLE larger than 1600 x 1200? 2560 x 1600 is a lot bigger.... :D

  • your beter off just getting a video card its cheaper.

  • My VGA adapter got somehow broken from my Motherboard.

So if i used this, would this work so i could use my moditer again?

  • get 2 16 usb port hubs, that 32 monitors what could you do with that

  • i've seen one of these before. they're worth it if you desperately need another monitor but it chews through your cpu usage whenever its in use. without a modern multicore processor these aren't usually worth it. ironically, most modern computers come with at least 2 display ports, so for whichever computer you would use it on, it might not be powerful enough

  • ebay sell theses usb things for 25quid quite a difference in price and also a a converter is only 1 quid rip off over there man mugs

  • there is a VGA version fo this O_O

  • How can i connect a PS2 to my monitor? is an ACER x193w.

    thank you

  • maybe you will give me some answers i have a sony ps3 and i would like to connect it to my acer 19'' monitor but i cant beacuse it dosent have a dvi port at the back but my hardrive has a dvi port at the back of it i was wondering if it will still work ?

  • you can buy a hdmi to dvi convertor

  • what is a hdmi to a dvi converter look like beacuse iv never came across that lol ?

and can u tell me how much it would cost ?

  • @zahidmasih7 I use a hdmi cord that has a dvi plug on one end a hdmi plug on the other so I can use my computer on my tv so I have a much bigger monitor. I got a 6ft one for $40 I think.

  • go to radio shack and buy a dvi to vga adapter

  • Mine is 20" and i have 1680x1050...

Doesn't your monitor support at least 1920x1080?

  • Comment removed

  • Going to buy one of these.

  • how much dose vga screen resolution? PLEASE ANY ONE REPLAY TO ME

  • ur question dosnt make any sense there buddy

  • pay attention

  • VGA has no resolution limit...

If you use DVI or HDMI you simply get sharper display.

I don't notice any difference though...

  • conielo.....get a life

  • I got a different version of one of these for £30/$50 from china that works fine

  • It was lagging bad for me on a 17'' monitor at 1280x1024

  • whats its specs?

  • Rambling. Get to the point. plan what you have to say and consider what audiences want to know. this is not worth nearly 9 minutes. You need to complete this in 3. blah blah blah. Too much inconsequential chit chat.

  • That depends on what the audience actually wants... I watch his videos just to have something happening in the background to which I only need to give half my attention (I hate silence)...

I like that he talks more than he needs to, it makes it more "personal" and I find it interesting. If you don't like his style then go watch other people who get straight to the point (which is what I do when I actually want to get something more than just background noise out of a video).

  • @ibennett22 That's really all his show is, and all it is suppose to be. Rambling. I normally hate it when someone says "if you don't like it, don't watch" when someone leaves a negative comment, but I think it actually suits here perfectly.

If you don't like the style and what it is, just don't watch. Don't try to get him to completely change his style to an informative 2 minutes with no rambling.

  • @ibennett22 i was thinking the same i go down and see your coment lol

  • @ibennett22 It's a live stream.

  • Chris Pirillo is just an arse sucking numpty who knows squat about hardware and software. All he hows it get sent free stuff to "review" and get an even bigger brown nose points! This item is expensive crap! Course he would not say this cause of his brown nose, but it is! His site is crap too! What Chris knows about hardware and software you could write on a postage stamp! I wish he would stop BROWN NOSING and say this product is expensive shit which it is!

  • I never even thought of a USB to VGA or DVI converter, prob could have saved me some money. I'm 6 LCD's off 2 FX5200 dual head cards and one FX5500 duel head card. Let me tell you it was not easy to get my drivers to work nicely together LOL. Nice Video!

  • i have this adapter an its not bad at low resolution but can be very lagy and dont plan on running any game on it

  • what would you say is a low resolution?

  • can I get a s-video adapter?

  • Im getting one of those and nice video

  • my 20 inch imac has 1680 by 1050

  • he gets paid to sell crap the companies push on him to push on his wee followers its like the blind leading the blind am before someone comes back with yeah but its a good bit of kit do your research if you believe a 2nd vid card would cost you 140 dollars you need your head looking at

  • well sir that depends on what kind of or what video card your getting. if it's a 200 GTX or something of the sort then it is gonna go up to 100 maybe even more.

now for a old card such as a Radeon 7200 or a Geforce FX 5200 or later it's pry gonna cost at least 60$ or more

  • 1280 by 800

  • Chris Pirillo is the man

  • wow thats a great idea. you can never have too much screen space

  • bah... my dads resolution is 800 x 600...

    he's crazy..

  • why are Chris's videos always out-of-sync??

I know it's not me, my computer, or my internet, because any other video will run fine.

  • mainly because they have to be compressed for live streaming

  • ComputerTV manages to do it without any issues, and they have live streaming in HD, and it's fine on youtube too. 0.o

  • yes when he compresses them from hd the audio my unsync happens to me often

  • Can you just get the vga to usb wire with out having that little box thing that he is holding? I have seen one but it looks really simple, just a vga end some wire and a usb on the other, nothing to install. Or is that not the same thing? Im new help! LoL

  • i think with out that box the refresh rate is horrible, there is some algorithm within the box that fixes that....i could be wrong though.

  • what you want me to give you a cookie or something. My god people my question was answered weeks ago, I don't need people to tell me what kind of com. I have when you can't even see my com. good day!

  • will a monnitor with 1680 x 1050 work

  • Hey I have an acer 6920G and it didn't come with HDMI out, it did come with VGA out, The laptop screen res. is 1366 x 768 and my tv is 1366 x 768, can I use a vga to component cable to hook it up to my tv without it messing anything up? They both have the same res. so it should work right? I don't want to spend couple hundred for that converter.

  • Strange. My 6920G has an HDMI port... Does your TV have a VGA port on it?

  • no my tv doesn't have vga, I was goint to go from my laptop vga to my tv component (rgb). I have probly the cheepest 6920 and it doesn't have the hdmi. And I asked some people on Chris's live page and they said It can be done sence the res is the same on both laptop and tv. now I'm looking for a cable, my local radioshack just ran out of them.

  • You can actually do this with the ARKIVEW USB-DH88 or USB-1612 which seems to be a better make

  • you looke like a bleached goast, you nerds should get some sunlight.

  • your a geek but your cool :)

  • nice O:

  • Usb 3.0 is on the way but still pie in the sky as far as I know but when it finally does come external video cards will be a good deal more usefull.

  • Thanks Chris. Always a good video!

  • hi chris, tge usb thing is good for laptop and with thoses who cant afford a video card :)

  • what if instead of a monitor i hooked it up to a tv via a hdmi to rca through a usb adapter from my computer? will i get bot video and audio?

  • ok anyone know any sites that ship to the UK and sell items like this?

specifically USB 2.0 to VGA would be great.

  • codicthelios i say buy it try it if y don't like it return it but if it doesn't work then y are f.k.d you should buy a new laptop

  • is there specific software or capabilities i need on my computer to know if this will work?

  • you're a bunghole.

  • I LOVE MY USB CARD IN MY MAC BOOK well not all of the time

  • Bueller???

  • that's a really cool device. I'd definitely buy one, but I don't have any money currently lol

  • It's like a low budget Twit Live.

  • don lancaster and his nutty friends sell a vga adapter for embedded hardware that operates from a serial port.

  • 1024x768 75hz :)

  • I believe this moron was the downfall of ZDTV or techtv.

  • yea i agree irq ports (shudder)

  • My old PC has an external SCSI !

  • buying 2 cheap graphics cards can get you up to 4 monitors . . . lol each card approximately $40-50 this thing is way overpriced

  • 2x 1920x1200 here

  • what about laptops ....? cant put a card in there...

  • 1440x900

  • hu cares show of

  • Thanks for the help with this Chris, I have recommended this at work. Cool stuff.

  • I run 1680 X 1050 and on my 2nd monitor 1440 X 900.

  • 1024 - 768 and 1280 - 768

  • i have 2 monitors so its 1440-900 then 1024-768

  • chris didn't happen to mention on board video cards that cant be removed or added to by another video card

  • 7:09- i love vista, and have no problems with it.

  • if they could make a device like that which could support higher resolutions and being able to handle games, i would easily pick one up. a usb video card would be a godsend for people stuck on agp or even pci only motherboards.

  • USB is good

  • I wouldn't mind having one.

  • does it work on the mac??

  • must do, since its USB and its only a monitor! good question though

  • This looks neat and all, but is it really capable of sending enough data to drive a monitor over USB? Standard DVI can carry almost 4 gigabits per second - almost eight times more data than USB 2.0. So how's this work? Compression? Partial updates?

  • hmm interesting, I'm getting a new Sammy or a LG soon and if I don't upgrade to an 8800GT, I'll grab this.

I'm not so sure tho since USB has so much amount of bandwidth :\

  • I want to connect two devices to one monitor.

I am looking to connect both my iMac and a DVD player to the DVI input (and all Apple Cinema displays have only 1 input).

    Is it possible?

  • Mac? Yes/no?

  • PCMCIA, contrary to popular believe, stands for:

People Can't Memorize Computer Industry Abbreviations

:) I will say that I didn't come up with that one myself.

  • I wouldn't spend more than $40 for an adapter like that. At $150, you might as well by a mid-to-low-end graphics card.

  • Yeah, because it's so simple to add a second video card to a notebook computer. ;)

  • Very cool I will have to get one. I ran out of extra ports last week just got a new LG lcd.

    Thanks Chris great video.

  • yes very cool Chris very simple way to do it without a nightmare setup

  • I use a mini dvi to dvi adapter to connect my samsung 22 inch external monitor to my black macbook and I love dual monitors :)

  • I use a VGA-enabled CRT monitor running at 1600x1200 resolution. It's big (and fat), but it's worth the workspace!

I don't have any other VGA/DVI ports left, so this device would be very useful if I were to buy another monitor.

  • you know whats sad? im on the family computer, and the resolution is at 800x600 :( because my family hates it being big, but on my computer (the one that doesnt have internet) is set really high, lol

  • Get an 8600gt for 100$. And to be honest if you can't put a card in a slot, sell your computer because you are not qualified to use one.

  • So people on laptop's should upgrade to a laptop that supports multiple video cards?

  • well u cant plug a 8600 gt into a laptop

  • I forgot to add /sarcasm.

  • USB is awesome, mainly because it works as soon as you plug it in and it's a standard for many devices. Although, Firewire is more preferred for higher end devices for me.

  • USB is awesome. Soon we'll be able to backup our memories on USB. =)

  • I think that USBs may have been one of the best things to happen in computing history.

  • cool (first vieuw)

  • well done u got first comment/view but whats the point of stating the obvious?

  • I aggree with you
