  • Where in the world have I been? I have NEVER heard of this method before. I've been natural for EIGHT years and have never done this or heard of it before. Oh, I can't wait to wash my hair. Thanks so much. I'm too excited! Can you tell

  • how genius is this?! lol nice job

  • That's very pretty !

  • I am so trying this!

  • Thanks for sharing this technique with us -- the results are lovely! Do you find that your braidout lasts longer with the Cornrow Method or the Single Braid Method?

(Noticed your Bob Marley poster in the back -- *awesome*)

  • Long hair , came out good

  • Long hair

  • Great technique. Your hair is the perfect length for it too, loose waves, lots of body, minimal shrinkage. Good Job and thanks for posting! ;0)

  • Can this be done on short hair? If so, How?

  • Nice done, I love it thanks

  • you're texlaxed and your hair air dried very straight like that?

  • Very good video. I remember when my hair was that long D:

  • I love this method. Thanks. I had my first good braid out because of this.

  • Your hair looks so soft!

  • Fucking Cute. Marry Me, Please?

  • I LOVE IT... IMMA TRY IT THANKS SIS :)

  • thx 4 explaining that ur HAIR is one part of the braid & the scarf was the other two parts.. that was a BIG help!!!!

  • this is sooo cool i never thought to do this

  • Sweet!!!

  • It looks pretty. The scarf in the braid is original. I want to try it now.. Lol

  • SO pretty !! it looks like weave that people want from the store!! lol pretty hair!

  • I see the LHCF shirt. What is your SN? I am NPR Addict.

  • soooo pretty!!!

  • this is soooo pretty.

  • nice.

  • Why not just braid your hair? What do the satin strips do?

  • hahahaha LOVES IT!!!! Never seen this method before

  • I looove it!! i'm going to have to try this myself :)

  • gorgeous!

  • Totally awesome!

  • wow ur hair is soo longg

  • Wow! This is a great technique. Your hair came out beautifully!

  • That was the best braid out that I have ever seen...EVER!!!!

  • I am very impressed with your simple easy routines and techniques. I was just about to go to a "big chop" and lop off about 6-8" of relaxed hair a lil reluctantly. I am going to texlax, then plait these lovely waves in just as you have shown us here. Thank you.

  • Why did I not know about this? I am so about to do it!!

  • What products do you use for your hair. Your hair is soo Beautiful and Long. !

  • just wanted you to know that i posted your video on my blog!

    juceefroot.onsugar.com/Tired-Scraggly-Looking-Ends-your-Braidout-12263106

  • absolutely gorgeous!

  • omg pretty

  • Your hair came out really pretty. I don't get why the use of the scarf though could someone explain.

  • where do you get your satin scarves?

  • GUUUUURRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Since my hair journey began, I have always tried braid outs, twist outs, bantu knots, etc. on my natural hair. But never like the stringy results, they actually made my hair look thinner, no matter how little product used. But last night I half heartedly attempted your method here before bed cause I planned on washing/conditioning, but the results were unbelieveable, gorgeous, ringlets!!!! Thank you, thank you for sharing!!!!

  • wow it looks great! i would have never thought of this

  • I absolutely love how your hair turned out! I never seem to get all 3 pieces of hair to make it down evenly to the ends & so it turns out all weird, but this method is genius! And so very simple. One question-what technique did you use to "tie up" the ends? The video was ff'd on that part. Thanks!

  • I did your air dry routine and the satin braid out last night. Loved the results!

  • Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!

  • ok i have a prob..hot you can help;)

i have just recently bought some Silk Remedy at sallys.

when i used it, the next day i undbraided and it seemd to not be ass moisterized

as yours when u take down your braids.

    its dry like.

and then when i put the product on the braid after i take down .

the waves pretty much fall out while im applying and im getting veerrry frustrated! lol

    pls helpppp;)

  • Gosh! tha just looks so gorgeous!;)

i love your videoss girl i really do

  • Sooooooooooooooooooo beautiful! Is your hair relaxed? I want to try this on my hair but I am Au Naturale. And I'm concerned that my roots won't be as flat as yours are.

  • Comment removed

  • ho do i transition from a perm.??

. if iknew this was out there i would never gt a perm.=(

  • your hair is really pretty love your tutorial

  • How often do you get the question: "is that a weave?". My God-daughter has mid-back almost waist length hair. She has students come in put their fingers in her scalp b/c they do not believe her when she tells them it's her hair.

Love your braid out results. Great tip, would have never thought to do this....thanks for sharing.

  • thankxs this vid is so amazing could i use moose

  • I finally got it.(dah) thanks for a great tutorial.

  • @theinnercreative thank u. Yes, you can dot his on short hair. The cornrow method works best. I have more braidout videos you should watch them.

  • Very innovative! It came out so pretty!

  • i appreciate ur videos... y don't u braid the satin scarf in with peices of ur hair but instead make a seperate piece 4 ur hair?

    -thank you

  • @penewaly because this makes more sense and is easy

  • absolutely beautiful....is your hair natural or is it relaxed?

  • @naughtytosweet My hair is texlaxed

  • I tried to do this and I suck....

  • @catstar14 Sorry it didn't work out this time. You can try again, practice helps...

  • Oh, your came out soooo good!

  • @MonkMonk74 thank you...

  • will it be able to come out right if the satin scarves are not as thick??

  • @SingingGoddess16 Yes, it will give smaller curls and a different look. I have other videos where I use strips of scarves vs the entire scarf. Watch them to see the finished look

  • wonderful idea i'm going to def keep you posted

  • @kenjas3 aww...thanks :)

  • I LOVE THIS!!! Can't wait to try it.

  • @azucarmoreno28921 Yep, give it a try and thank u!

  • ugh i can't wait till all my hair grows back so i can try this....this is amazing!!!!

  • @JustDatLil1 thanks. Definitely, you have to give a try :)

  • Hey, I thank you so much for this tip! I tried this method last night and my braid out was fabulous!!!!!

  • @MsDivaMentalitY awesome!

  • Very cool. Love the way you demonstrated your braidout. Will definitely try it. Thanks a lot.

  • @mamkhemnte thank u. hope ur braidout comes out great

  • I LIKE

  • I went to sally's and got the square satin scarf by proclaim. I got a purple one, so I can see how the scarf is wrapping around my hair. I cut one scarf into nine 3 inch pieces and I'm doing single braids. I've got 8 in my hair now and I look a little crazy but I hope it looks good in the morning. I'm so tired of my braid outs looking raggedy. Btw, I'm transitioning so I'm 9 months post relaxer. Will definitely update you!

  • @MakeupOnABudget Oh wow, how did it turn out?

  • @ZanAndRob The single braid-out turned out nice. I also did the cornrow method, that came out ok, but I need to get my technique down. I just learned about a month ago, so they don't come out that great. Thanks so much!

  • I am SOOOOOOO doing this tomorrow when I wash my hair!

I used to do this to my christi barbie doll when i was younger =) never thought to try it on my hair though ahahaha

    theenks =D

  • @indyeh Oh really, how did your hair turn out?

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • @littunah thank u

  • gorgeous braid out!

  • @MeekaJael thanks

  • looks great

  • @zhanespecial thanX

  • I tried this last night. It was AWESOME! I can't thank you enough for sharing this. I've been trying to permanently and completely remove heat from my regimen and I think this will make that happen!

  • @missanthropyx1 That's great. I am happy to share and I am glad your hair turned out Awesome! :)

  • Great technic, our vids are the best ever and you are lovely. I love how healthy and thick your hair looks. Although i'm french, i don't master french braids AT ALL so i'll stick to this technic lol. Thanks for your vids, love them.

  • @PirouetteCacahouete lol. French braids are not as easy for everyone, so I completely understand. This way is perfect for anyone who wants to try the satin method but cannot cornrow / french braid.

and thank you for watching my vids :)

  • love it! i wish my hair was as thick as urs tho.

  • @kuntrygurl786 lol, I don't think my hair is thick, but thank You!

  • Hi, do you blow dry first?

  • @Jolissa73 No I airdried before the braidout

  • Thanks so much for sharing I'm enjoying all the info you have on your site as well as watching your vids! This method has helped me so much I've been on my journey almost a year now my hair is healthly and thick but I was starting to become bored with bunning. This method is simple but you can do so many diff. things with it! Have you ever done a twist out with this method?

  • @ltoomey82 Thanx. I've never tried a twistout with this method. But with the satin scarf the possibilities are almost endless. I love experimenting with the satin scarf method so I will definitely include the twistout in my experiment one day ;)

  • Your braid out came out sooo nice. Why the satin scarf? Does it smooth the hair more. Sorry if you have already answered this question:)

  • @mekaziona Yes, I explain why I use the scarf on my website. It is the first link posted in the Video information on this video. The post is entitled "How to do a Braidout"

  • This is amazing! I will definitely try this! Great idea!

  • that's neat!!

  • @Notathingtodo No prob. I am glad you found the info.

  • I'm finally trying this tonight, on natural hair. It was so much more difficult than I expected to get the satin scarves into my hair - about 45 minutes to do 4 single braids. Hopefully it turns out well, or else I will be in a bun.

  • @MrandMrsT Wow, that took quite a long time. I hoped it would be a quick and easy hairstyle. I hope you get faster the more practice you get. How did it turn out by the way?

  • @ZanAndRob Yes, I am not that great at braiding with the strips of scarves. It turned out pretty awful. I need to try it again on my flat ironed hair. I ended up just putting my hair in a puff.

  • @MrandMrsT Oh, so sorry about the way it turned out. But if you've seen my good braidout vs bad braidout video or even visited my channel you know that my braidouts did not start off great either. So there is still hope for you, you just have to practice. With practice it will get a lot better.

  • I want to try this, where did you get the silk scarves?

  • @mimimason The scarves are satin, check the video info for details.

  • interesting technique

  • I can't wait for my TWA to grow out to try this method! Your hair is so pretty!

  • @natrlchallenge Thanx. Your TWA will grow out and you will get there in no time :)

    ♥ Zan♥

  • I like your waves...really cute :-)

  • @SlimLyn08 Thank You!

  • I love the way your hair came out , i never seen this method with the scarf done before , i was amazed at the outcome

  • @3jdixon Thank you. The best ideas are always a little different... :)

  • i love love love this method im a new subbie and i wish i had found u a long time ago i got to get the real scarf though cause i cut up a durag lol

  • @nikkic5182 LOL, thanks. Use what you got until you get the real thing. No shame in that :)

  • YOU ARE THE TRUTH!!! I tried this last night (had a lot of trouble at first trying to get the scarf to stay but I got it in there some kind of way) and I've never had a better braid out my ends don't look all chewed and thinned out I love this method. Thank You sooo much for sharing this technique

  • @blaqueonyx Hey, I am glad you like this method. Happy to help a sister out :)

You will get better at it as time goes on. Happy Braidouts!

    *Zan*

  • love it

  • @kthename08 Thanx !

  • @kthename08 your welcome!

  • Very nicely done! I love this technique. Im still trying to figure out how to get the scarf in there LOL. Its easy watching you do it but hands on i get a little lost but im still working at it girl! Loving the results!

  • @missthis897 Girl, for the single braids, I don't put the scarf "in" my hair, I put it under the section of hair I am holding. Watch at min 2:07 and unwards to see what I am saying.

    Anyway, thank you darling :)

  • this is how I did mine (but 5 braids)! I can't wait to try it again

  • @candiimamii326 Good Luck!

  • you truely are the braidout master!!! love all your vids.

  • @baby2o6 Thank you! Love sharing my braidout techniques with you guys.

  • Another excellent video! I can't wait to try this. I'm going to pick up a few more satin scarves at Walmart this weekend. Could you explain what you did with the scarf when you reached the end of your braid? I can't tell if you tucked the scarf in or tied it somehow. Also, I'm about 2-3 inches from APL so do you think the cornrow method is better than single braids for doing a braidout on shorter hair??? I really appreciate your time to doing these videos! It helps so much!

  • @TotallyTyra Thanks girl!

Watch my "How to Cornrow / French braid with a Satin Scarf for a Braidout " video around 5:23 you will see how I secure the ends of the braid.

For short hair the cornrow might be better but APL or almost APL is NOT short, so I suggest you try the single braids. If you don't like it, go with the cornrows.

  • Gorgeous as always!!! I love the satin strip braidout, I've been using this technique since your first tutorial....I do 4 plaits because my hair is so thick!

  • @ninapruitt Thanks! and your hair is gorgeously thick. For the fine hair girls like me, I can get away with just 2 braids :)

Post a pic of your satin strip braidout somewhere girl so I can see it.

  • came out so great

  • @sweetbee06 Thank you ;)

  • OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGG where on earth did you get ur tee! I want one! I want ANY of Nikko's cousins AND step cousins (lurkers) to stop me and say hey!!!!!!!!!!! Love It

  • @Dummiip Oh You too funny. I just posted the link for the shirt in the video info.

Or you can go to zanandrob . com / Shirts

    without the spaces ofcourse.

  • Love the shirt:)

  • @naturalpride Thank You!

  • wow this is really pretty, did you have to use 3 different scraves for this or did you just cute one into 3 parts?

  • @Nitra813 I used 3 whole satin scarves. One for each section. I didn't use strips this time.

  • @ZanAndRob where did you find the scarves? Your hair looks great!

  • @moniquewhit Check the video info. I posted a link with all the products I use. But I bought mine at Walmart/ Sally Beauty
