say you had two groups: one group who ate burnt steak, and another group who ate burnt steak while drinking green tea. the group who drank the green tea would probably develop fewer cancers. It might even mitigate the statistical increase of the burnt steak to begin with. that is the affect we are seeing when we analyze marijuana smoke vs tobacco smoke. Even if THC/CBD are healthy, the other constituents of "smoke" (burnt plant matter) are NOT healthy.
@Gfrant this comment is making the point the video intended to point out. and no where does it claim that smoking any burning plant matter can't cause harm. but studies point out exactly what your analogy does...if a person smokes pot or pot and ciggs, there do seem to be lower chances of certain cancers over those who just smokes ciggs. the 'pot' is your green tea....pot does not increase most cancers it does seem to decrease...
This is not to say that Marijuana doesn't have potentially beneficial properties. If you want to harness them, make an extract or cook with it. Perhaps even vape. Find a way to use it therapeutically without generating carcinogens. Marijuana doesn't cause cancer--combustion byproducts of plant matter does. Green tea might be healthy as a tea, but if you were to smoke it, you would generate carcinogens.
Smoking anything causes a variety of health problems, if you dry out a fucking apple and smoke it regularly you can in fact develop CANCER. Im not hating, just be aware, and dont go around saying smoking anything is good.
Hear's the truth, if you go into the hospital and you are a smoker. They give you a pamphlet that tells you all these facts about cigerette smoke. Here's the problem, it says 10 minutes after your last cigerette your lungs start repairing themselves. one night I smoke almost 8 joints my lungs were effected I found it didn't stay that way for even ten minutes.
but the products created by the combustion of the elements of the plant may cause irritation of the respiratory tract epithelium which is a cause of metaplasia that can develop dysplasia, and then malignant neoplasia. It doesn't happen always but there's a big chance that marijuana smokers can develop cancer in a long term. Sorry, my English sux
A recent study found that the ingredient Styrene, which is found in Cigarettes, Marijuana and foam food packaging has been shown to cause cancer in Humans and Animals alike.
@tjtuck27 There was 1 study. You are correct. However, I would like to see them do comparison studies, simply because if marijuana is grown naturally and not treated as some many tobacco crops are, I wonder if the same results would be true. It is only one study but they did not release the source of the products they studied. The tobacco and marijuana could have been stored in plastic containers at some point. There were not 'controls' mentioned. I wish they would publish that info!
@NC420Reform Yeah, I'm not saying that it's really an important factor, considering that 87% of the people tested, tested positive for Styrene, so most people are exposed to the chemical anyway, and it is more common to cause cancer in animals then in humans.
I looked up "marijuana causes cancer" and got this. If you think about it, I just looked up a bunch of bullshit and got the exact oppisite in the results. LOL
yup...kind of crazy all the propaganda out there. that is why i add the links to where i got the medical information so people can research the facts and figure out they have been sold a bill of goods. it is crazy out there....
don't you wonder if anyone has noticed the rise in cancer seems to go hand in hand with making Marijuana Illegal? i would love to see someone study that!
Since it is made from compressed hemp, I would assume it is similar or the same. but I have not seen of...or heard of studies on it. so don't quote me.
Yes, the research does show it. In fact there is no higher incidence of lung cancer among pot smokers than non smokers. A surprising finding to the researchers. It is the anti-carcinigens (sp?) in marijuana that may well prevent the cancer from forming. More research needs to be done but it has already shown great promise in numerous medical studies relating to cancer treatment. Choice: chemo based on mustard gas...or pot...which would you prefer?
This is the real deal... I wish people would stop brushing it off, simply because of the politics of the issue, and the corporate greed that keeps it from being excepted.
agreed! i'll check the link soon. i like keeping up with the research but just had some surgery and on slow motion without the hemp due to my states laws.

@merolhed but they have done studies that show it can kill cancer cells too. I am not familiar with dysplasia and will do some research.
