My boss at the gym is 69 years old and would kill this hack. Sorry gang. Tai Chi is simply not for fighting. Period. It seems like a wonderful way to stretch and relax though.
Why revert to your roots? The roots is the basics. The basics should never be abandoned because we build upon them. Muay Thai, Greco Roman, Judo etc at their core are very simple.tai chi deals with the bodies energy, developing that "listening skill" with the body. This s stuff that stays with you when your ring career and youthful strength ends
@zacktillery I can understand why you say that fighting has evolved, but it hasn't, not really. Fighting is as old as man. It's ancient. MMA isn't 'new" maybe new in the sense that we can witness as situation where we can see all the stages of combat, but are you trying to tell me that people in the fifties or even the roman empire didn't know about the effectiveness of the mount? That they didn't wrestle people to the ground back in the day? They did.
Some of you are just dumb ignorant assholes. Actually many of you probably never trained a day in your life and are MMA fanatics. To be honest the cage don't have shit to do with the streets. You know that place where people carry weapons, there is no rules and there is concrete. Grew up in the streets of Baltimore so trust me I know. This man is just sharing his concepts and knowledge. Some of you ignorant fools are the reason why I say Martial Arts should not had came to the US.

@Ilanactingreel Terrible Martial Arts? I guess it isn't made for assholes like you to get get it. In China many practice martial arts in parks. So why can't we do practice in parks here in America.
I'm saddened my the attitude so many in the MmA community seem to have especially towards other martial artists. Unless you're taking about taking someone to the ground, they hold you in contempt. True martial artists like this man know that is a life style. The art nutures mind and body. I wonder if a lot of these MM A artists will be able to do their art into their forties, fifties, or seventies. I doubt it.
@TheSubwaysurfer Don't try to explain that them. They don't know what real martial arts is about. This man seem to have a wealth of knowledge and I don't even know him. It is those like you and I who know that martial arts is a life journey. Real martial arts has nothing to do with putting on a show for fans.
@TheSubwaysurfer MMA has evolved. Fighting has evolved. Fighting has evolved into MMA. MMA is the end result of fighting. Why would you revert to your roots? MMA is like windows 7, and aikido is like windows 95.
@TheSubwaysurfer Royce Gracie, Lyoto Machida, Georges St Pierre, Cung Le, Randy Couture, Bas Rutten, and so on! Not all MMA fighters are buffed-up meat-heads! A lot of them come from styles like Karate, Kung-Fu, Tae Kwon Do, and many more! They just chose to evolve and become a complete martial artist as they made it in MMA! Learn to be more open-minded and do some research before you make absurd statements towards other styles of combat!
@TheSubwaysurfer Same i agree with you, my perspective on MM A individuals or UFC individuals, to me i mean not all of them but some of them, they go about it the wrong way using different Arts just to beat someone up, but really they don't understand the true meaning of it. Like you said "it's a life style" lol i agree. Also agree on them not doing the Arts in their older ages lolol. I practice different arts myself but im young im only 19 years old, but to me it is a lifestyle.
It's interesting the way people randomly comment on someone they've never met, and "access" his skill level based on a casual look at one video. "Rasta" "Homeless""bum" this is sad. This an is highly skilled in this and other art forms, hus highly articulate, and yes, he can fight.
the guy is very right about all of this stuff..they teach alot of this stuff in women self defence..in my old karate school there was a woman self defence class and one day i stayed and tried the class..its all about escape moves and counters..and btw the class there was brutal as hell..they were showing the gris there how to rip a ear off and how to take a eyeball out of the socket..it was awesome
It's easy to give the illusion of knowledge when ur students have no experience. I'd like to see you do this with someone who actually knows what they're doing.
@jabshe20 All students start with no experience, the same way all instructors begin as students. And I believe doing this with someone who actually knows what they're doing would be called "sparring" not teaching a student. Superiority complexes don't help you in martial arts
Spare me dude. The chick was definitely hot enough. Don't pretend like you're above it. I do her, you'd do her, any straight man would do her, & we're all at least a little bit jealous of tai chi dude.
@4:09 part the horses mane would be better, by just pushing them off you allow them to come back at you, By parting the horses mane they can't return unless they know the reversal.
Notice he looked at her when he said "Swallow it whole." And then when he said "I swallow." She went "yes yes"
Don't chew on it girl!
ugh it's late and I've been sucked into the "watching random videos on You Tube portal of doom" I got to this after I watched a vid a friend sent of a tranny on train macing a kid. Good night I'm going to bed.
If you can reply to the comment i made moments ago that'd be great, because i want to get better at fighting. Not only for beating my brother, but i just feel sometime in the future i'll need it. I'm very interested in fighting styles like Capoeira, and also things like Kung Fu, and i usually try to find things on youtube that i can learn and do to overpower the opponent, and not to harm them, but defend yourself while keeping the other person at bay. Thanks for replying if you do.
This may sound stupid, but aye im young so i have stupid thoughts. But anyways, if you pause the video at 0:50 where he has his arm under her chin. I've been in that occasion with older brother, and what i did is instead of putting my arm under his chin, i put my right wrist under his shoulder and put my hands like i just clapped, then i use the force on my hands to bend him over and then im free to push him away. Something i thought of, but it's prob in some fighting style. Is it somewhat good?
What this accomplishes is training your body to react almost as fast as you can gain the input from your eyes. This particular training (the push hands that is) teaches not how to fight but how to move. Go out and get a friend who has never done martial arts before and tell him to stand still while you push on his shoulders. He'll either fall back or stumble back. A martial artist that has been decently trained will lean back at the shoulders and put one foot back as a brace hence the push hands
Next Martial arts functions almost entirely on muscle memory. This is how when a normal persons reaction time is .3 seconds a martial artist can sense a target, hit it and recoil in .15 seconds (this is from fight science on discovery channel i haven't personally measured it). Part of the process is preprogrammed into your muscles natural response. This is why if you get a martial arts instructor worth half a grain of rice, they'll teach you both forms, and have you kick a bag till you hurt.
Ok having taught martial arts myself i'm going to clarify a few things. First police training, and just about any arms expert will tell you that 22 feet is the magic number for holstered guns. In other words if your gun is holstered a person can cover 22 feet before you can draw and fire. I do not mean draw aim and fire. I mean reach down tilt the gun out of the holster and fire from the hip. This of course shortens or lengthens based on the two people taking part but for reference 22 feet.
alot of people dont understand for anything to be mastered, one must start off slow. You cant fully comprehend anything if your mind doesnt understand what its supposed to do. Your eyes ans nerves must slowly learn to anticipate moves and react accordingly. Eventually speed will develop.
this guy absolutely doesnt loo like an fighter..^^ he looks like a member of the wailers =P...but actually this is good ....its surprising if ja himself comes out with some handy badass kick and punches ^.^
it's funny ever martial art video has a gun responce, yes we all know the discovery of powder destroyed a lot of countries, i'm not all that familiar with the art of push, but in hand to hand combat i would guess the push is design to get a person away from you who trying to grab u then u can defend, this is to get the average joe off u if they try to grab u, then u can punch or kick and hope u drop them in one blow
I have been studing martial arts since the age of 9,that kind of tecniques are very fancy but the phey have a very low percentage of succes.IF IT COMES TO THAT,BEEING SO CLOSE TO YOUR OPPONENT THINGS DON,T GO AS IN THIS VIDEO
to tell you the truth i personally love/hate touching hands with a skilled woman. men are much easier, muscular men even more so. the more muscle you use the better you are to control. i wont get into it though as it is much too lengthy a lesson. oh okay, try carrying a water bed versus a mattress. it has the same properties on many levels. that was damn profound of me.
Obviously. But it would be nice to see these moves field tested in a sparring session, perhaps with someone who has a different style. Just to see how practical they are.
That's why I like brazilian jiu jitsu. It's battle-tested and proven to work, when you train it you realize the point and sparring sessions only stop when the opponent taps out or faints from a choke.
You obviously failed to watch the introduction. These techniques are not meant to be used in a fight, but to teach your mind and body how to feel and anticipate your opponent's movements and balance, which is the same thing as when you try to pass or defend a half-guard on the floor...getting a feel for what is about to happen, and the various alternatives at your disposal.
Sharpe and Roberto who??, what he perceives Capoeira?? Before teaching has much to learn, if you want you can come to Brazil to take a course of 15 years but i will be able to teach someone your crook.
Rofl, you guys are saying tis too slow and crap. Yeah, this is just for practice. I've done tai chi and have actually used it in a real fight. If you speed this crap up, its a whole different story guys. Plus, watch the movie fearless, most of the stuff done in that movie as also tai chi, the stuff that he's doing
ok you using 2 hands for one? and what she supose to do with left hand? sit and wait? and you driving the hand away apon her... and you bit what the oponent not stronger than you? and the foot? sit and wait again?
LOL @ people complaining MA doesn't protect from bullets... you've been playing too many video games if you think everything that breathes carries a gun.
Martial art benefits you physically, mentally and will always increase your survival chance.
There's no rules saying a martial artists can't use guns... I'm sure they have better reflexes, speed, aim and decision making skills than some dope smoking hood rat.
@superm8s hahah indeed I can not stop a bullet with my mirror hand, but for my own practice I prefer hands over weapons simply due to the fact that most likely I will alawys have my hands and feet.. but not so often have a weapon in a time of need. Also I had a chance to discuss some cop kung fu and the gentleman made a good point. He said during altercations he has to constantly worry about someone taking his weapon and using it against him.
@superm8s I carry a gun what is your point? Are you saying my gun is not what it appears? I see what you did there, you might have won this one but I will be back. Also I hate you and I hope you jam your fingers in a door, nothing serious just enough to where you feel pain and can go on about your life after.
@superm8s i smoke dope but im nt a hood rat im a father and family man lol and it does slow down the senses and reactions and what u say is 100% correct lol
@superm8s Don't be so quick to judge ppl who smoke marijuana, i've Been taking capoeira for two and a half years now, u ciuld take you out any day, marijuana doenst limit your ability to do anything but stay awake sometimes
@superm8s You are correct, also the majority of people bluff and end up in a worse position because of creating the situation of act or suffer, for their own situation while a room full of people will often shove the situation of living up to carrying out their threat.
bruce lee?!it is u master?! u r so strong,so good, but not 2 fast 4 the bullet:))))
so if u want 2 know how must response, must live in the strret.law in the street it's : if u touch me, i kill u without pain.we live in a new era my friend and martial arts it's good 4 women ( and 4 body and mind), 2 help her escape from a rape, but not 4 men, because uzzy make the job complete!!!
you even conscious ? obviously the reaction time of a human is inefficient when compared to the speeds of a bullet. it's fucking obvious. my meaning was that you should kill yourself.
would like to see more, you're the man,the martial arts needs more teachers like you,dig this saying- when the scholar hears about the way he practices tirelessly, when the mediocre man hears about the way he practices occasionally, when the fool hears about the way he laughs,if he did not laugh it would not be the way.

MMA doesn't allow fighters to go for the throat or ear. Dirty fighting moves are great for IRL fights.

it's funny ever martial art video has a gun responce, yes we all know the discovery of powder destroyed a lot of countries, i'm not all that familiar with the art of push, but in hand to hand combat i would guess the push is design to get a person away from you who trying to grab u then u can defend, this is to get the average joe off u if they try to grab u, then u can punch or kick and hope u drop them in one blow

I have been studing martial arts since the age of 9,that kind of tecniques are very fancy but the phey have a very low percentage of succes.IF IT COMES TO THAT,BEEING SO CLOSE TO YOUR OPPONENT THINGS DON,T GO AS IN THIS VIDEO
allugard 2 years ago
its not about use. it teaches foresight and appropriate reaction
kenta000007 2 years ago
i for just once would like to see those tecniques being done to a more muschled guy than then one who teaches them and then i "ll see if they work
allugard 2 years ago
to tell you the truth i personally love/hate touching hands with a skilled woman. men are much easier, muscular men even more so. the more muscle you use the better you are to control. i wont get into it though as it is much too lengthy a lesson. oh okay, try carrying a water bed versus a mattress. it has the same properties on many levels. that was damn profound of me.

It's not about size, it's about skill... You don't have to be a body builder to know this. What do you think of masters who are the same size as him?
godzac 2 years ago 5
Obviously. But it would be nice to see these moves field tested in a sparring session, perhaps with someone who has a different style. Just to see how practical they are.
That's why I like brazilian jiu jitsu. It's battle-tested and proven to work, when you train it you realize the point and sparring sessions only stop when the opponent taps out or faints from a choke.
johan404 2 years ago
You obviously failed to watch the introduction. These techniques are not meant to be used in a fight, but to teach your mind and body how to feel and anticipate your opponent's movements and balance, which is the same thing as when you try to pass or defend a half-guard on the floor...getting a feel for what is about to happen, and the various alternatives at your disposal.
BPo75 1 year ago
@godzac That's what I though too. Then I saw MMA battles. You don't see people with his build in MMA battles.

Plus, watch the movie fearless, most of the stuff done in that movie as also tai chi, the stuff that he's doing

great video. I'm learning from a guy. And I recognize the same concepts. though he hasn't organized it so clearly for us.

Very weak this lesson, in slow movements is easy, in the reality the action is different.

LOL @ people complaining MA doesn't protect from bullets... you've been playing too many video games if you think everything that breathes carries a gun.
Martial art benefits you physically, mentally and will always increase your survival chance.
There's no rules saying a martial artists can't use guns... I'm sure they have better reflexes, speed, aim and decision making skills than some dope smoking hood rat.
superm8s 2 years ago 107

@superm8s Don't be so quick to judge ppl who smoke marijuana, i've Been taking capoeira for two and a half years now, u ciuld take you out any day, marijuana doenst limit your ability to do anything but stay awake sometimes
hudson141414 1 year ago
@superm8s You are correct, also the majority of people bluff and end up in a worse position because of creating the situation of act or suffer, for their own situation while a room full of people will often shove the situation of living up to carrying out their threat.

@superm8s got something against dope...?
socialsuicide045 1 year ago
@superm8s Ignoramus "dope smoking hood rat"
Obviously refering to cannabis here, dope is the wrong word. Dope = Dopeamine = heroin
There are Martial artists out there medicating with medicinal herbs, dont throw them in that category.

you even conscious ? obviously the reaction time of a human is inefficient when compared to the speeds of a bullet. it's fucking obvious. my meaning was that you should kill yourself.
