This show seems like its not choosing who is the best dancers...but which countries "native" or "orginated" dance is better or more appeasing...and thats wrong, cause some people like the argentine group and the american tap dancer should hav ebeen given higher scores.

I have a lot of respect for KabaNJaba and most of the crews on there but this would take ABDC or WBDC I should say to a whole new level. This show though isn't representing and only 9 countries to start with WTF!!

Actually in China Kung Fu is considered a dance form....which is probably why they are on that show- because they are representing their country's cultural dance. Most people only see dancing in one way, ignoring that other cultures see it in another.

A lot of dance is interpretation anyways. So some will have more movement and others no so much. NBC should have been more specific as to what types of groups could complete as this isn't fair to the competitors. Hell they should have just let the damn audience vote as would have even been less bios.

I didn't think it was that good either. Flatley is not a good host, the judges, especially the South African judge, were biased and gave low scores so that their country had a chance of winning, and the dancing was mediocre at best.
the shaolin monks are pretty cool. sure it may not be "dance", but its still cool to watch. although i am a bit upset with Ireland. they took the routine directly from lord of the dance (marie duffy is the choreographer of course) when there is soooooo much those dancers could do (theyre all "worlds" level dancers for christs sake!) and still be in unison!... i hope they come out with something thats a bit less lord of the dance/riverdance, and more "championship level irish dance".

I agree with number 3. All they were doing was kicking and screaming. You don't know what the monk did before he became a monk but then again, I still agree. The U.S. has various dance styles yes, but there are some set dance styles or classical dance styles that every dance should be familiar with so you can't count those in.

First of all, I do respect their style of dancing HOWEVER, as the judge pointed out it is too much similarity to Martial art to distinguish from dancing. ALSO, there are forms of Chinese Martial Arts that have more dance form in case you didn't know, which you OBVIOUSLY didn't. And I don't need a history lesson from a naive person who can't make the distinction of dance from martial arts. What you miss is flow, movement, story-telling, nothing of which was in the "dance".

I also agree with you ForksWA98331 to a point but dance is left to interpretation. You look at America's Best Dance Crew which was a bit deceiving. Some crews were more stage performers then dancers. Yet how do you categorize this since dance is technically about movemrent. The monks certainly fall into that in that respect. They need to be more specific when casting these shows otherwise it is going to be misinterpreted. I guess we will have to see how it unfolds.
What is also interesting is that American Idol producers Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller and behind this which I should have guessed. Although it is going to be judged esclussivly by the panel of judges. Lythgoe quoted that I would have thought the American public may vote for America and it would be unfair. Although from the looks of it thus far. I think the American public is more fair then what the judges seem to be at the moment lol. I wonder how this is going to translate with da public?
I didn't think it was that good, some of the dancing I wouldn't have considered it dancing. Austalia and Ireland were the only decent ones. I was especially dissapointed in Robert because he is so amazing and he didn't showcase ANY of his talents. And Anya and Pasha were much better on SYTYCD. They looked like they were holding back.
Well it looks pretty good but how are they going tot judge this? I mean they are difference disciplines, ethnic dances, interpretation etc. How can you compare that with the Irish dancers vs Zulu? This just seem a bit unfair. I feel the American dance performance was fantastic and yet they only got 7 WTF! Each one deserves to be judged fairly and it already is looking bios. Yes, she was. She gave America's duet a seven, although after second glance, I can see her reason. Even when she somewhat liked the dance, she sorta sighed and gave a higher score as if she thought otherwise. She was tough.

The Shaolin performers are part of the group known as "Wheel of Life". They perform kung fu sunts all over the world. They will be doing the same kung fu stunts for the dance shows. Heck, most of their routine are on youtube. Search "Shaolin wheel of life".
I give them the props for their abilities, but sorry, kung fu is not dancing.

BTW, have you even read the shows info? There aren't just group performances from each country. Each country has 2 soloists, duo's, and a big group for the competition. their GROUP performers may not satisfy some BUT dont take them out just yet. their soloists and Duo's may blow you away(if your not biased against other styles of dance)

I didn't say that tap dance was hip hop, I meant the American guy that you claimed to be weird was probably hip hop the way that you explained it. And I thought the African dance was cool, and I was telling my mom the same thing to. And you know what? You're very right. I was ignorant not to know that martial arts was a type of dance. However, don't expect everybody to know that info. I just wished that they could've at least explained it to the audience before the monks went on.

i loved the show up until usa's couple got poor scores and russia's couple got 9's...what was that all about??? usa was amazing! russia sucked! it reminded me of a calvin klein fragrance commercial!!! honestly, ireland is my top choice, i just think the judging was crappy

martial arts is a broad category and many make a form of dance out of it. Just because it is not the normal dance you typically see in the western media, it doesn't mean it isn't a dance.
Dance is an art form that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music, used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting.
So how is salsa any different from those monks when it comes down to the actual definition of dance

I agree with number 3. All they were doing was kicking and screaming. You don't know what the monk did before he became a monk but then again, I still agree. The U.S. has various dance styles yes, but there are some set dance styles or classical dance styles that every dance should be familiar with so you can't count those in.

First of all, I do respect their style of dancing HOWEVER, as the judge pointed out it is too much similarity to Martial art to distinguish from dancing. ALSO, there are forms of Chinese Martial Arts that have more dance form in case you didn't know, which you OBVIOUSLY didn't. And I don't need a history lesson from a naive person who can't make the distinction of dance from martial arts. What you miss is flow, movement, story-telling, nothing of which was in the "dance".

And actually, I did study martial arts. I have a red belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Of course they have other forms with more dancing, but that doesn't make this any less or more of a dance form. Both are considered dancing.

The female tap dancer did some moves that take years to learn. Some of the things she did Im just learning and ive been tapping for 10 years. Some people cant to wings let alone Single Wings. Tap was here way before breakdancing. It's tradition here in the us. Go visist a studio that teaches tap. You couldnt keep up. Its an art form idiot.

I also agree with you ForksWA98331 to a point but dance is left to interpretation. You look at America's Best Dance Crew which was a bit deceiving. Some crews were more stage performers then dancers. Yet how do you categorize this since dance is technically about movemrent. The monks certainly fall into that in that respect. They need to be more specific when casting these shows otherwise it is going to be misinterpreted. I guess we will have to see how it unfolds.

What is also interesting is that American Idol producers Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller and behind this which I should have guessed. Although it is going to be judged esclussivly by the panel of judges. Lythgoe quoted that I would have thought the American public may vote for America and it would be unfair. Although from the looks of it thus far. I think the American public is more fair then what the judges seem to be at the moment lol. I wonder how this is going to translate with da public?

I didn't think it was that good, some of the dancing I wouldn't have considered it dancing. Austalia and Ireland were the only decent ones. I was especially dissapointed in Robert because he is so amazing and he didn't showcase ANY of his talents. And Anya and Pasha were much better on SYTYCD. They looked like they were holding back.

Well it looks pretty good but how are they going tot judge this? I mean they are difference disciplines, ethnic dances, interpretation etc. How can you compare that with the Irish dancers vs Zulu? This just seem a bit unfair. I feel the American dance performance was fantastic and yet they only got 7 WTF! Each one deserves to be judged fairly and it already is looking bios. Not to mention only 9 countries which is a bit weak. What about Korea, Japan, Philippines & only China is representing?

Yes, she was. She gave America's duet a seven, although after second glance, I can see her reason. Even when she somewhat liked the dance, she sorta sighed and gave a higher score as if she thought otherwise. She was tough.

The Shaolin performers are part of the group known as "Wheel of Life". They perform kung fu sunts all over the world. They will be doing the same kung fu stunts for the dance shows. Heck, most of their routine are on youtube. Search "Shaolin wheel of life".
I give them the props for their abilities, but sorry, kung fu is not dancing.

BTW, have you even read the shows info? There aren't just group performances from each country. Each country has 2 soloists, duo's, and a big group for the competition. their GROUP performers may not satisfy some BUT dont take them out just yet. their soloists and Duo's may blow you away(if your not biased against other styles of dance)

Hip Hop, Jazz, Tango, Tap, etc etc.. Are all dances. Little Ninjas doing flips and jumping on spears, prancing around like moneys, isn't dancing.
