This game's mechanics are definitely different than Rome and it does take getting used to .Rome is definitely much easier to maneuver your units I think, which may or may not be more realistic but whatever. Personally I prefer Empire and Napoleon to both.
It just seems like this game lacks as many tactical options as others in the series.
PoM did all the right things to be a strategic commander, he lost because his knights had no dicipline and went for the enemy breaking up his battle line which sealed his fate to be cut up.

i like to call them battalions. but they are more like the size of a company. battalions sound cooler though. i go to a military school and i can tell you that each one of these "squadrons" look alot like a company. a company consists of 3 platoons generally. each platoon has 4 squads and each squad about 5 people, give or take.

That's because I never played Medieval II. I stopped playing after 50 games. I was BRAND new to it. Of course I'm gonna lose at a game where I'm new.
Oh yes, those teutons are definitely cool enough looking to get me interested as well. In fact, I don't think I've seen any cooler looking mounted or dismounted knights of the medieval period. Overall though, I love the bronze age too much.

The difference is that units aren't as responsive in Medieval II. Also, units don't rout immediately (even after you've surrounded them) in Medieval II. Controls are very sluggish in Medieval II. And it's a lot harder to see your units in Medieval II due to the camera (at least on my PC).

Instead of throwing your money away, why don't you play with the camera settings? I use my Med 2 camera the same way I use RTW. You have to sit down, and learn these things, man.
I with you bro, I've seen Alexander Nevsky too, and I like the German Knights,.. If you ever get the time, go visit the Teutonic Fortress at Marienburg, and the one at Marienwerder, in northern poland (the prussia that once was) Its worth it 100%., you'll love them even more
Hm... Against an opponent as Novgorod, why didn't you pick more spearman units? Heavy Infantry is tough, but getting charged is bad what ever way you put it. And the Teutons have heavily armored spearmen as well.

1.he has cav archers or boyars,you should have arranged your heavy cav into single lines ,and charged at them.as soon you got close ,run back
2.you should have placed archers on the left and right flanks,protectedby in,second use flaming arrows when the novogord cav charge
3.use half of your inf to charge at the inf .do not charge at the boyars ,but use the sword brethen to fight the boyars

i like to call them battalions. but they are more like the size of a company. battalions sound cooler though. i go to a military school and i can tell you that each one of these "squadrons" look alot like a company. a company consists of 3 platoons generally. each platoon has 4 squads and each squad about 5 people, give or take.

Lol Teutonic order. They were mercilessly crushed by Alexander Nevsky and drowned. They attacked and killed thousands of Baltic pagans who stood to protect the last European religion in the region unlike Semitic Christianity which brought Europe the dark ages (killed science, technology, people,progress until the Renaissance)and the corrupt order of the Catholic church and more wars for the future German people under Martin Luther. Belarusians crushed them at Gorodno as well. (Modern Grodno).

If you actually looked anywhere for any info about the Teutonics, you would see that Nevsky DID to damage to them, but the last straw was the Grunwald battle. Do some research, kthxbye.

lol second time i see you lose a battle in one day, same faction also, perhaps the teutonic knights are too hot-headed to be under the command of a general who's only recently started playing medieval... Anyway I love ur vids, and your interest in the teutonic knights came kinda in the same way as my interest for them.. When Nevski kicked their asses I was like come on their just Russian peasants and stuff but It's like one of the quotes in Rome, don't hope for victory by relying just on numbers

It's impossible to cheat history =D Oh, and Alexander Nevsky is more of a historical movie, not propaganda, we've watched on our music classes coz of its soundtrack ;). But if you want REAL propaganda, watch Battleship Potyemkin(not sure how it's supposed to be written in english, sry, but i'm sure you've heard of it).;)

Oh yes, those teutons are definitely cool enough looking to get me interested as well. In fact, I don't think I've seen any cooler looking mounted or dismounted knights of the medieval period. Overall though, I love the bronze age too much.

MII, won't even run on my computer, at a decent playing speed.
It runs more slowly as "Europa Barbarorum", which I'm sure you probably tried at least once.
Of course, I still need to buy the game (the one I tried was my brothers)

The difference is that units aren't as responsive in Medieval II. Also, units don't rout immediately (even after you've surrounded them) in Medieval II. Controls are very sluggish in Medieval II. And it's a lot harder to see your units in Medieval II due to the camera (at least on my PC).
There are many more subtle differences.

Instead of throwing your money away, why don't you play with the camera settings? I use my Med 2 camera the same way I use RTW. You have to sit down, and learn these things, man.

I with you bro, I've seen Alexander Nevsky too, and I like the German Knights,.. If you ever get the time, go visit the Teutonic Fortress at Marienburg, and the one at Marienwerder, in northern poland (the prussia that once was) Its worth it 100%., you'll love them even more

its worth it man.. its the largest Fortress in Europe.. (still)...
It was destroyed 50% in World war II during heavy fighting with the Soviets..
but it was reconstructed mostly..
The other great castle at Marienwerder was looted by the Russians but not destroyed..
You should see all of these, plus the famous Trakai in Lithuania!
you'll love it. Its worth the trip man, plus you might meet a sexy teutonic baltic babe

Hm... Against an opponent as Novgorod, why didn't you pick more spearman units? Heavy Infantry is tough, but getting charged is bad what ever way you put it. And the Teutons have heavily armored spearmen as well.
